It's time to talk about the only FROM game that ever mattered
It's time to talk about the only FROM game that ever mattered
based, it'll never be topped.
Played it at a friends house when watching his cat over the weekend. Shits pretty dope, I'm banking on the PS5 having backwards compatibility though since fuck buying a PS4 this late in the game.
Any chance PS5 hardware will be able to improve performance on older titles?
BB runs solid 30FPS on a PS4pro nowadays,so it's a safe bet unless Sony shits the bed on the emulation.
*blocks your path*
Oh shit, does BB actually improve with the Pro?
*steps over the runny puddle of shit*
you were saying?
digital foundry video says not by much
It does! I hated playing it on my base PS4 but i got a pro with DMC5 and it's made Bloodborne in Performance Mode run like a dream.
DeS: 6/10
DaS: 7/10
>+DLC: 9/10
Das2: 5/10
>+DLC: 6/10
BB: 8/10
>+DLC: 10/10
Dark Souls 3: 8/10
>+DLC: 9.5/10
Sekiro: 9/10
Bloodborne fans are really obnoxious though, although I suppose it would be more appropriate to say a certain sect of Bloodborne fans, usually those who are indistinguishable from Sony zealots, are more abhorrent.
I didn't even finish Sekiro, the setting and storytelling were so fucking boring to me
hm true, at least it is the best Souls game to date and unironically a modern classic, which is almost impossible to find nowadays.
>and then wreck a fool with a bone ashed cannon
YOU PLAGUE-RIDDEN RAT!
Still waiting on that King's Field discussion OP promised
Main game is mediocre
Extra content is trash
Dlc is great
Next.
DeS: flour
DS: pepperoni
DS2: hawaiian pizza
BB: prosciutto
DS3: pepperoni with grape juice
Sekiro: Jiro's overpriced gaijin bait sushi
I found it better than the other games in terms of story. If by the sheer virtue of the fact that it has a story, while they are all "nameless amnesiac vagabond cleans up a crumbling world while all the interesting stuff has already happened". I don't consider background lore and glossary item text hunting "story" though, so my opinion is rather skewed. It's the laziest form of storytelling and world-building, that being the games writer employing a cryptic style through incorporeal, intangible flavour texts on items. It doesn't relate to the gameworld, there's no person nor entity giving voice to these item descriptions. It's necessary to appreciate the underlying themes though, especially in the case of Bloodborne and its great ones/dream elements. But that doesn't make it a satisfying way to implement those story aspects. For me at least.
I started playing BB on the PS4 slim, and the performance was pretty bad, but I didn't notice any fps drops while playing on the pro though.
How does it not relate the game world? If anything when it's done well in Dark Souls and Bloodborne I think how the items reinforce the themes is a more effective, play-oriented way of storytelling (such as with Madman's Knowledge or Humanity)
I'm ashamed to admit that I bought a PS4 for Lady Maria.
Valid reason if you ask me, I love her voice.
The gameworld as the player experiences it. Item descriptions aren't etched on weapons, or inscribed upon the glass of estus flasks. It's just there, and the games are designed so that to really appreciate the story, you must read these and come to some sort of conclusion as to what they, the extraneous details, add to the experience of the gameworld itself, and the experience you, the player, have wandering through it.
The two are fundamentally detached from one another. That's my problem. Perhaps if there some sort of book in game, like something from an elder scrolls game, extracts and excerpts from old-age figures like Artorias, hints to give you an idea of the machinations behind the characters.
It feels like a very unnatural form of storytelling, that's what I don't like. Something which seems shallow at first, and then deep as you consider how the writers were trying to make the world feel organic through historical, and sometimes dubious flavour texts, but then remarkably shallow once more, when your realise how it doesn't fit at all into the game world.
She has like four lines. In the entire game. She's hardly even a character, and I'll never understand the obsession some people, especially in BBg, have with her.
I agree, feudal japan has always been boring to me as a setting.
Lol muh setting fags are always butthurt racist anglos
Woah user, I'm not obsessed with her. I just like the accent.
AKA you weren't good enough.
Are we ever going to get a sequel?
Nah, you're alright. But she has a really dedicated few fans for some reason that I can't even begin to comprehend.
There's just not enough Maria content in-game to remotely justify it.
>It's time to talk about the only FROM game that ever mattered
i.e
>look everyone, Bloodborne was the first souls-like I played! Why aren't any of the other games like my souls experience!?
cope
This.
Through the game BB is good. It's annoying their fans behavior like a paganic crazy zealot for their god : Sony.
Cannot wait to watch them mass suicide when the game ported to another though.
it being ported would only make me happier, i'll get to play at 144 fps with gsync and will likely be able to remove the horrible chromatic aberration
>mfw bloodborne gets a pc port and all the sonyfags lose their fucking minds
Bloodborne on its own isn't an 8/10 experience if you actually beat Chalice dungeons. It's also the shortest as well.
I'm the guy you responded to.
I put Bloodborne as an 8 because I think it's the most extravagant and polished souls game, even including Sekiro. The graphics, music, sound and visual design are top notch, and the gameplay, while still in my opinion decidedly inferior to Sekiro because of the fact that it still retains the slightly floaty feeling combat of prior games, is extremely visceral and satisfying, especially when you pull off a parry or opportune staggering attack.
I do think the quality of the game lessens considerably at Byrgenwerth, both in terms of bosses and game flow. The enemy design following the forbidden forest veers perilously too far into the tedious and frustrating, and the bosses are quite often miserable or just poorly executed experiences. Gehrman, Ebrietas and Logarius do save its face at the end a bit though.
I won't say much for Chalice dungeons, as they are uniformly dull slogs to get through, so much so that I only ever bothered the once.
That's fair enough. I found most areas unmemorable save for the Fishing Hamlet which is basically Shadow over Insmouth. The Nicolas Cage parody boss fight was also a stroke of genius.
Post you're favorite weapon, boss and zone
For me, it's the Saif, Gehrman, and Hemwick.
Even though it feels unfinished in just about every way, it’s still more enjoyable than any other title.
Saw Cleaver, Micolash for laughs / Paarl for aesthetic / Ebrietas for kino, Hypogean Gaol.

>Post your fav Yharnamite lines.
For me,it's "THIS TOWN'S FINISHED!"
You're not alone. I got about 3/4 through the game before I just stopped caring. I'm glad so many people love it but I just got bored enough to stop completely.
DS1: Best early-game, godawful late-game.
DS2: Best post-game/DLC. Shit early, and mid game.
DS3: Best late game, shit early-game, monotonous post-game.
BB: Best DLC and all-round package.
Sekiro: Best narrative (not to be confused with story), best mechanics.
Hell, the level design takes a sharp downward turn after the first fucking level. Name another in the game that has the diversity of areas, verticality, and multiple paths of Central Yharnham. All others are just dead ends, or a main path leading to a couple more dead ends. Cathedral Ward and Cainhurst were massive disappointments.
Stake Driver though I barely use it.

You cant disregard 1. BB would have never come about without it
This. BB is my fav but DeS and Dark Souls are the skeleton to the complete body.
