I'm looking forward to no fixed camera. They also said mega evos were so popular they'd be a permanent addition when sun and moon came out so at least there's still that. Plus the new poke bank for switch so I can transfer all the shit I've had since I was a kid. Battle animations look decent for the first time since stadium. I'm cautiously optimistic about this one.

Pokemon has sucked since Gen 3 mate. And yes the water is a problem, as are the extremely low level Pokemon at "endgame".

Gen 3 is the first game to encourage you to level one or two Pokemon to clear the game. Leveling up a whole team is much more difficult with the downgrade of repeated trainer battles, low trainer count, low level wild Pokemon, majority water Pokemon. They stopped being games after a while and just simulators for tourneyfags. The single player bit might as well not exist

Hardware is more than just allowing for better graphics, it can allow games to run better and process faster, allowing for improvements and variations in gameplay.
There's a distinct difference in wanting your game to look beautiful as opposed to being an eyesore. You keep trucking on as an apologist, though, paying for overpriced brand name technology with the innards of a Nvidia Shield.
Also it's worth noting that the lack of even remotely industry standard technology is the very aspect that has driven third-party developers from Nintendo's console market, going as far back as the N64, so "fucking around with the latest hardware" is exactly what everybody is and has been doing.
