the amount of missable content in Fromsoft games is fucking annoying. Take this boss. After I defeated the gaurdian ape, how the hell was I supposed to know to go to the a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT zone, a little offshoot of the poison pool, to know to fight this guy. Plus there's
>the great serpent
>the great carp
how was I supposed to find these

Missable content is cool because it rewards smart and observant players with more gameplay.

the world isnt designed for you in these games, youre just in it.
there are entire levels in the other games you can miss unless you know where to look or are inquisitive. the game rewards exploration and using ya fuckin brain you dumb shit

the witcher 3 might be more your speed user

the absolute state of this board in 2019
>everything must be a linear corridor handed to me on a silver platter

Okay, what 2smart4me hints did I miss that would've clued me on this stuff? Oh wait. There are none. It's just pointlessly obscure.

the poison pool is ravaged and when you ask an injured guy what happened he mentions an ape
I can't imagine how mad you'd get if you heard that there's a ministry ninja at the great serpent shrine when you have no reason to go there
the game rewards players who explore you massive faggot, you probably didn't even play the first dark souls

Just gives games more replayability. There's nothing wrong with having to do multiple play-throughs of a game to find everything. If you enjoy the game, it shouldn't even be a big deal.

Not sure why people feel like they need to be able to do everything in certain games in a single play through.

That's why you're stuck in your life user. There's no walkthrough irl.

Uh if you play like a normal fucking player, you'd just naturally do Guardian Ape and then Headless almost immediately after. The game is clearly meant to be played that way you fucking nigger. Even Kuro lists your goals in that specific order and tells you where to go.

not him but that's not a good argument either
the game should allow you to do things out of order
I can't believe the state we're in that no one played even dark souls 1, let alone demon's souls

because it's a 70 hour game and I don't want to replay it just for 2 missed bosses. I'm not a NEET like most people on this board and I don't have time for that. I'll just stick to internet guides.

But I did the whole depths section before I fought the ape, so I had already explored that zone. After I defeated the ape, there was no reason for me to go back there. Why is the game offering branching paths if it's punishing me for not doing it in the "right" order?

The game outright tells you to do Depths after Sunken Valley. Headless being optional is the secret, not Headless.

You absolutely can do it out of order. The double ape fight is optional

>Didn't miss double ape because I did poison village last
>Beat double ape 1st try somehow
>Hear there was a ghost warrior in the ape cave
>Go back
>Ape is still on the floor
>Da fuq?
>Walk up
>Red execution indicator
I didn't know that I had to execute it twice because I thought it would be the same as the first ape. I felt dumb that I had been missing out on a attack upgrade all that time.

You could notice the lantern being greyed out for teleporting. But I can’t remember if the lantern there spawns if you haven’t fought headless ape or not. Also the old ladies asking for rice tell you every fucking detail on how to do the two snake areas

>because it's a 70 hour game
more like half that
>and I don't want to replay it just for 2 missed bosses
you don't have to if you don't want to
>I'm not a NEET like most people on this board and I don't have time for that
then play some linear shit nigger I don't know, not the game's fault and not my fucking problem
>I'll just stick to internet guides
what a massive faggot, I'm glad you'll never experience the joy of discovering something on your own
>But I did the whole depths section before I fought the ape, so I had already explored that zone. After I defeated the ape, there was no reason for me to go back there. Why is the game offering branching paths if it's punishing me for not doing it in the "right" order?
the game isn't punishing you, in fact if anything you can skip a boss fight for doing it that way. on top of that you didn't miss him and can still go back to fight him. you are given the choice to choose which to do first, if you do ape then poison pool then you have to fight 2apes, if you do it the other way then you can warp past him, if you choose to avoid using fast travel as much as possible then you'll be able to discover these things more often. you really should fucking play dark souls 1 you faggot and maybe you can understand
I'm not going to waste my time arguing with a retard like you though, so here you go, watch this and save me the time youtube.com/watch?v=QhWdBhc3Wjc

How can you talk about missable shit and mention demon's souls? Have fun with world tendency.

if you don't have the mortal blade he just waits for you to sever his immortality

I've played and beat Dark Souls and Demon Souls. And Bloodborne and now Sekiro. I played them all blind as much as possible.

Sorry you retarded From fanboys won't admit that these games aren't perfect and are frustratingly obscure.

They are. I played demon's souls Asia version when it came out and played Dark souls at a convention before it was released. I look up hidden shit nowadays(for the second playthrough) I don't want to replay them a dozen times anymore.

you think sekiro is bad? try to play bloodborne if you want that fuckery. literally can't progress without a guide.

You take the time to explore and you will have missed virtually nothing. But no, instead you wanna rush to the end like some dumb zoom zoom as if it were a race. The underground serpent and carp are easily found if you wouldve simply taken the time to view your surroundings.

nice strawman. I explored every area of the game as much as possible. And I didn't want to rush to the end as soon as possible, I wanted to find everything I could.

>70 hours
dude you are SHIT

You're supposed to finish the game blind first then use a guide to find the secret stuff in ng+

Had you not looked up all that shit you wouldn't even know you missed it then. You got a full game. If you want everything handed to you play another game or get the strategy guide you dumb faggot.

the worst is when some quests are tied to others, if you didnt go to the witch's forest you lost a good chunk of content in dragon's dogma

most people just follow guides, and if they say they don't they're probably lying. some people might enjoy the feeling of following a guide to find all the content that would be too obscure to really find too, like a treasure hunt. i don't know if it's designed that way on purpose.

>dude missable content you're not directed to!
>"you are specifically directed to it"
>dude you should be able to do it out of order!

If this game is 70 hours for you, you are unironically the worst player in the world. Imagine being worse than DSP

You can find the serpent easily if you just do normal exploring - why would you not go in the other direction from the first guardian ape to find what lurks on the other side?

THe carp is completely missable though. Especially if you go for shura ending that prevents you from meeting the other pot man.

>doesnt talk to every npc for random dialog, hints, and plot
>doesnt read journals/notes/in game descriptions for important information
>doesnt explore every zone to mentally map out area and bring full immersion of the vidya world
>doesn't think, follows linear path and just mashes 1 button
Man i feel sorry for alll the games you truly missed out on, you potatoe.

Wtf, 70 hours? This game takes no more than 30 hours to 100%. You're just a fucking retard, god damn.

the merchant that moves to the temple mid-game sells a note that tells you about the ape duo

and the old rice ladies tell you where to find the serpents

Your remind me of a complete autist who tried to knock down DS1's level design because "It didn't make sense"

the ladies asking you to save their father in fishland should at least hint that you're missing something, and also the huge seemingly unreachable portion of land

>I'm not a NEET like most people on this board
>calling people NEETS because youre too stupid to do any outside exploring
>i dont have the time to invest in a game that rewards players for playing more thoroughly.
This is why you will never enjoy anything, or have a gf. You dont invest youre time but still want to be rewarded, you want everything given to you without doing anything. Play a cinematic walking sim if youre going to bitch about being a sperg baby retard who needs everything handed to him. Second, go back to r*ddit; youre a galactic faggot.

How is the carp missable? Don’t you literally have to swim by it to progress through the temple? If you’re talking about the area where you feed it then that’s just a result of not exploring enough. I saw the area all the way on the right that I couldn’t access and wondered how I could get there. Swam through the giant carp area, cane out the other side and saw a grapple point to the roof of the temple and then grappled over to the previously inaccessible area. Anyone who says you need a guide for that is probably brain dead and shouldn’t be playing games anyway

Headless ape is missable?!

the point I was making is that that user said
>Uh if you play like a normal fucking player
>the game is clearly meant to be played that way you fucking nigger
it's a retarded argument but that doesn't mean I'm saying missable content is bad, it is good. it's like that thing where you're on the same side of an argument as someone but they say something retarded. the game isn't "meant to be played that way" it's meant to be able to be played nonlinearly, which it is
and I literally fucking said "not him", I know you are directed to it and that there are hints for it, see optional shit isn't bad holy fuck please read

>because it's a 70 hour game and I don't want to replay it just for 2 missed bosses
u wot m8? I just beat genichijobber on NG+3 and clocked in a whole 60 hours, all this with a job and 2 hours of play per day. Are you literally just walking through the game?

I'll admit I followed a guide for 2 of the endings because holy shit, I would've never just guessed some of those steps.

>play dork souls
>like to piece together happenings and events based on item descriptions and visuals
>play Sekiro
>do so as well, but also realize that probably a shit ton of obscure japanese culture shit is flying right over my head because am not japanese

Yeah but getting access to the father owl fight is kinda BS. I can't think of a single case outside of the Kuro eavesdrop that you had to cling to the wall to hear.

don't think you need to cling to eavesdrop on kuro...

The serpent the first time?
Thing is op each area is a linear levels. The castle is where things would split off to different paths. How I figured it out is seeing how badly I get my ass kicked in each level. Like I got to the upper levels of the castle, I was doing shit damage to the samurai there.
So I went to another route. When ever I feel like I cant move further I stop and go to a different route. I think thats what the developers were trying to get you to do.

>it's like that thing where you're on the same side of an argument as someone but they say something retarded. the game isn't "meant to be played that way" it's meant to be able to be played nonlinearly, which it is
I think you guys are arguing two points here. The thing is each level is linear but you can leave that level to proceed in another linear level. If one is too tough you go to the other one to get more levels.
