When you tell a studio to remake a game from scratch so it looks and plays as close to the original as possible, but with improvements, that is a remake. Shadow of the Colossus is a remake. Nobody is calling Black Mesa a "remaster", are they? It's a remake. Have people forgotten how drastically changed Modern Warfare "Remastered" is in places? The nuke scene scenery is completely different. It's not like they took the original game and slapped new textures on it. It's a completely different game created by Raven and crafted to look like the original by Infinity Ward, but with a bunch of liberties taken.

No, the firs tone was a remaster, the developers explicitly said so. They made some new assets for it but most of the game was just ripped from CoD4. It wasn't built from the ground up like you want to think.

I don't know where to talk about this but I got BO4 from Humble the other day and found the multiplayer to be really disappointing and not at all what I expected. There's a bunch of classes now with gimmick abilities and players are wearing outlandish outfits with neon guns.
I just wanted an updated version of MW1/2 but this wasn't it. There's also a lot of very obvious cash grabs/zoomer-focused skinner box rewards that really turned me off. I haven't kept up with any COD games/news in years so I guess it was my fault for not seeing this, but damn. Just disappointing.

I recall playing one or two cod games, they felt pretty forgettable. That coupled with the "same game different year" 'meme' made me ignore all cod games, maybe if it has stealth and an actual long, interesting single player I might be interested.
