Why the FUCK did this never get a sequel? My friends and I used to rent it all the time and when I finally bought my own PS2 it was one of the first games I grabbed

Literally the only people that didn't like it were snooty fart sniffing critics. Average Joes seemed to like it pretty well.

It had some cool parts. Unfortunately, the Stranger Things girl and her shitty parents in the movie account for 70% of the film.

theres a game from Granzilla(formerly IREM, makers of the Disaster Report series) that made a game where you survive a disaster scenario in japan, but the disaster is Godzilla, Ultraman, and Evangelions.

It was essentially them taking all the criticisms about the first one and trying to fix them. For example, there's a lot less talking and a lot more monster fights. Narrative is a mess, and the human scenes are still just boring glue to prevent it from just being 2 hours of cgi monsters grappling each other. But they're a bit more bearable than the first ones were.

I was wondering what happened to Irem recently. They made a couple of hidden gems that I love outside of the R-Type games they're most known for. Metal Storm is a very underrated NES platformer and Ninja Baseball Bat Man is a top-tier beat-em-up.

King Kong is an American classic. Godzilla is mostly a Japanese movie series; the character is known but his pedigree mostly isn't. You have to remember that even to an avid moviegoer in America that only watches American movies, KotM is the third Godzilla movie they've seen, and the 00s one was bad and the 2014 one had too little Godzilla with the focus being on bits of fanservice.

theres history there. you know that they make disaster games right? well turns out that when they were close to releasing their next disaster report, the 2011 tsunami hit japan. since releasing a disaster game of similar premise so soon after the hit is a terrible image, they opted to cancel the game, putting them into the red. By extension, taking that massive loss of income, Irem had to close development on Steambot Chronicles 2 as well. Thus, Irem closed down, until they rebanded as Granzilla, to try to continue their series, which they surprisingly managed to get the rights back to.
