Why did Yea Forums hate Venom Snake?
Metal Gear Solid V thread
He is my favorite snake though
I still can't get over the fact how badly the entire development was fucked over when Konami demanded a 7th gen version. I wonder if the sales were even worth the sacrifices in the end?
Solid > Venom > Naked > Liquid > Raiden > Big Boss > Solidus
MGS V is a great game, MG Survive isnt bad either youtu.be
Solid > Venom > Raiden > Naked > Big Boss > Solidus > Liquid
Where can I buy an e-cigar like his? I'm googling around and I can't find any. It's hard enough finding one that is refillable and rechargeable.
i don't hate venom, i hate his game
v sucks, didn't even bother to finish it once i got to chapter 2
He's a handsome mother fucker
Guys, how come all the enemies have on those invincibility suits and helmets even though I send squads on those dispatch missions to disrupt the supplies? Made me stop playing.
this unironically. survive is p good but jim sterling played 2 hours of it and said it was a fence simulator
When are we gonna get our shit together and come up with a real plan for disarmament?
Can I play it without the multiplayer? I dont want to support Konami, but id like to pirate it.
never
nukes give you power, you really think anyone would like to give up on that?
These overedited meme videos got so shitty. Faggot ass talentless youtubers use the exact same god damn sounds and effects for every single viideo
Who is the better soldier, Big Boss or Venom Snake/The Medic?
How did Venom get so good? Is just thinking you're a legend so you believe in yourself really enough to make you great?
yeah, you can play solo and its very good
Venom was supposed to be the best soldier in MSF, then add the Ocelot hypnotism to make him know all the shit that Big Boss knows and you get a pretty good soldier.
>Venom was supposed to be the best soldier in MSF
but he's just a medic
>Venom was supposed to be the best soldier in MSF
When was this mentioned? Was he mentioned as part of the story before Paz exploded?
He had interesting potential as a character but the game does nothing with it until the very end and he has zero personality.
It was in one of the truth tapes.
well shit, game was so bad i didn't get there
Old Snake is the one who finished the cycle, best Snake Forever, Period.
Same
Codec calls > Tapes
Changing that alone could have improved the game a ton
Based Snake
youtube.com
Here it is
It's funny how he just kinda stands around doing nothing during most cutscenes.
From what I've seen in the Death Stranding trailers Norman Reedus suffers from that too.
because he's not a cute loli
Yeah, I see another game of the same failures. Hooray, Kojima-san. Arigato.
reedus talked to the president in that cutscene more than venom did in the entirety of mgsv
He was the real Punished Snake. Venom at least had a mute big titted sniperfu with him, Pequod, fluffy dog, and a close crippled friend.
Share your ranks, you are Diamonds.
He's like a Coldsteel version of Big Boss.
I don't know about Norman but I took Venom standing around doing nothing in most cutscenes as a representation of the difference between him and Big Boss. Compare him with the Snake from Ground Zeroes where he's a lot more talkative and boss-like.
its kind of bad but no where near people made it out too be
Leddit trannies just shilled 2 hard for kojima
Like a lot of things in MGSV I get what they were going for, but it doesn't really work. He just looks confused more often than not.
download a mod that lowers snakes health
turn off reflex and chicken hat mode
and its almost good
its just too easy with zero boss fights and no quick saves
Was Venom autistic or did he just have social anxiety?
What mods should I have for phantom pain?
literally 0 character. Kojimmy sacrificed good story telling for a dumb ruse. Good stories are carried by interesting characters, of which mgsv has none.
Not Punished, just Old. He has ben given freedom where all the other Snakes struggled for liberty.
Push ( A ) to Let go.
It's basically the same... Autism is just a level up.
>analyze facial expressions
>Venom gets upset and confused when Kaz tells him no on using the children as soldiers
>Then he forces a smile to try to make himself look sharp in front of Kaz
>Afterwards he goes back to being disappointed but tries to be faint about it to avoid showing how heavily upset he is
>Shows signs of contempt and questioning when Kaz plans to educate the children
>As if he was thinking "come the fuck on now Kaz"
>Gives no input after rephrasing and understanding Kaz's dialogue as if he was shy to go against him
>Afterwards he smokes his cigar, unhappy and depressed
Am I an autist, genius or a retard?
You really need to watch the cutscenes a second time on YouTube where you can pause, analyze and really understand his mindset.
The whole point was that "Big Boss" is a literal meme, and anybody can be Big Boss. Although medic was already a competent solider
Quiet pink nipples, and Tank Looping
Eh..he has a giant piece of metal stuck in his skull. His facial expressions are just spasms.
stop chilling your channel faggot
he just do nothing so you can put your own feelings in the character, this is a method used in a lot of video games
Snake at least had friends and family with him until the end, Venom died alone.
He's way more based than Big Boss.
Can I be Big Boss?
nah he wasn't at all. He was the snake that was fighting for what he genuinely believed in and not what he thought he was supposed to or what he deluded himself into thinking he was supposed to. He was the least punished of all the snakes
virgin snake
This game should have had the same level of NUCLEAR as pic related did. We were supposed to see Big Boss become a monster, not do unicef shit.
I wanted to see Big Boss shoot those children, not because I'm a piece of shit, but because I wanted to see Big Boss descent into madness. He was supposed to cross the line of no return and spiral deeper and deeper into darkness.
Snake had a hard life.
>he just do nothing so you can put your own feelings in the character,
>His facial expressions are just spasms.
So you're going to ignore the fact that he can make more than one facial expression because you feel like it?
>more based than Big Boss
>is completely complicit as Big Boss with killing one of Big Boss' own men, while working with Big Boss on and wanting to use nuclear weapons of destruction in Outer Heaven/Metal Gear 1
Nah.
this, kojima wanted to explore some themes about language and all that bullshit when it shouldve just been an unsettling and personal character study of big boss.
Solid Snake had Otacon
>This game should have had the same level of pretentiousness as pic related did
No thanks. It was already a mess on its own.
It sort of was that, it's just that all the information is delivered in tapes instead of it being shown.
Big titty naked woman> Otacon
I would have gladly taken a "Holy shit, Venom Snake is a fucked up monster" story over "VOCAL CHORD PARASITES".
They may have been friends, but I never got the sense that they really had a deep relationship.
In the end, I think Snake never had a true companion (Otacon, Raiden, Meryl, Roy (Gray Fox came close though)).
>but I never got the sense that they really had a deep relationship.
I think you have autism.
>turn off reflex and chicken hat mode
i wasn't using either
the thing about this game is that i like the gameplay, it's just that there's so much wrong with everything else i can't bring myself to finish it
the whole mobile game tier bullshit that is the motherbase stuff is just unbelievable and i can't believe a triple a title has this, i don't care about the online shit but the game actually locks content behind it. capturing soldiers and expanding your base is just not fun, and going around bases and getting materials isn't fun either
chapter 2 is forcing you to do some older missions again but restricts you a lot more in these so you don't always have an open approach to things, which is like the entire fucking point of having an open world like that
the world in general is shit, both maps are mostly unreachable areas and the playable areas have like 5 actual bases with nothing other than tiny outposts between them. would've loved some urban section at least
story is too boring and nothing actually happens for the most part
any mission involving the skulls is a slog to go through
i probably forgot some things
Why didn't quiet just write the plans down or just not used English? when she fell for snake
Why is kojima fucking retarded for focusing on something that has so many plot holes when people wanted snakes descent
>They may have been friends, but I never got the sense that they really had a deep relationship.
Didn't they even have their own secret handshake? And they were raising Sunny together for a while at least.
Spec ops was great. It's one of the only games that shows you descent into madness. It's one of the only games where you play as an irredeemable monster. It's what MGS should have been like.
Look at this pic and tell me you don't want to play as a Venom Snake who actually goes nuclear and creates more suffering in the world. I wanted to do some taboo shit, like shooting kids, or using them as child soldiers / slaves. I wanted to see Snake kill innocent people and see Miller justify it as "shit happens". This was supposed to be about the big bad guys. And instead we're a humanitarian group rescuing kids.
We don't even see the kids get trained. Nothing like what happened to young raiden. Imagine if MGS V had a scene where Snake was making one of the children kill his first man.
Neither did Big Boss. Both of them only ever had people following behind them, never actually at their side.
The performance capure is an atempt to realism. Realism is the weakest form of art. So yeah I'm gonna ignore it.
that sounds fucking bad ass user
Were we the punished ones all along for getting this mgs5 shit?
idk if you've played MGS2 but that definitely affects how I see their relationship in 4, they're clearly bros for life. I would post the handshake but filesize is too big
Dude, they had a super secret handshake. Dummy
STANDING

Do you mind if I save this for later? Perfectly encapsulates my thoughts and feelings about the game
is there even a single game that shows a child getting killed? why is it ok to show something like mw2's airport mission or mortal kombat fatalities but not some kid getting shot?
feel free i guess
> This is what Line hacks actually believe
Venom is very satisfying to look at , so realistic and stylish at the same time . In my opinion he has the best chara-design of all snakes. I'd love to see solid snake 3Dmodeled in the way of MGSV.
deep duuuude
Could you imagine bros if the mgs5 wasn't ass
>We don't even see the kids get trained. Nothing like what happened to young raiden
I'm not defending the shit story of V but most of that shit was done by Big Boss, not Venom.
One of the things that annoys me the most about V is that now all the shit that other characters said that Big Boss did could've been done by Venom and there's no way to find out.
Don't forget the real BB betrays Venom in the end, sells him like he sold the world. BB is a true monster because he betrayed the players themselves, leting them kill each others endlessly in the FOB mode. We are all the shadows of big boss, his phantoms. The only one who gets to play as BB is Kojima himself. Deal with it, Kojima is the real monster, the real Big Boss.
THanks pal
is this a copypasta
Who was the best female soldier, Eva, Quiet, or Meryl?
have a break, and listen to the original :
>handshake is so secret it can't be posted on Yea Forums
Goddamn, that's some real meta shit Kojima pulled off.
i wish we could personalize him more ( removing eyepatch for example ) i think modded venom of pic related is handsome
>Handshake into hug.
Better than dodge into grab.
Why are you not fooling around with the avatar editor ?
Olga.
If you're really talking about being a soldier, Quiet.
Finally did the quiet fight on extreme yesterday. Took me 4 hours. Act 2 makes you wonder if you were ever good at metal gear. Fun game play, empty open world though, worst plot of any of the games though, that's why Yea Forums hates venom snake. Also late game weapon base development is grindy as fuck
wathever i do on the avatar editor it ends like shit in-game
I'm a brainlet. Would these wheel-feet serve an actual purpose, like handling a certain kind of terrain or is it just a joke robot?
??? Never had that problem, but late game its hard to send out enough squads to do helmets, shields, riot armor, and any profitable side ops
>3125 troops to look over
I just started playing MGSV last week and I probably have to manage 200 troops and it's already a colossal pain in the ass. Is there a way to ban lower ranking members from getting recruited at all?
There's not much there to hate or love either way as a character; for the most part Venom is a player avatar that does Big Boss stuff. You can see Big Boss personality traits and bits of residual Medic stuff (Venom seems on the whole to be more sentimental than Big Boss), but as a personality there's not much going on there. I think he's interesting thematically, though, and I like how he and Skull Face work in parallel and how they both reflect on Big Boss and Zero. Still, even if MGSV's additions to the overall continuity are mostly minor, Venom's existence is pretty contrived this late in the series' lifespan.
If the phantom, fully recovered and Big Boss swapped roles in the hospital then the scene would play out the same.
Fact. :^)
because it's the raiden 2.0 ruse, we wanted to play as big boss
It wouldn't do anything better than actual wheels or treads. Every time it takes a step the chassis dips down and has a chance of bumping into obstacles located on the ground.
The story was quite ridiculous lets be honest here..
Stop posting your shitty edited video with your retarded opinion in every single MG thread
That's what I figured.
Neat design, though.
It's honestly the least ridiculous out of the whole franchise, also mainly due to not having a story.
>raiden 2.0 ruse
There are similarities but it's pretty different.
Rising is the closest to our timeline.
>And make America great again!
>BB betrays Venom in the end
It's not like Big Boss expected Solid Snake to actually come through and succeed.
>tfw america couldve been made great again in 2011+8 if nanomachines were real
>I wanted to see Big Boss shoot those children
You clearly haven't played Metal Gear 2, Big Boss never killed children, he took them in and raised them to be soldiers. When you talk to the kids in MG2 they talk about how the one eyed man is nice to them. You want some Anakin Skywalker shit that makes him completely irredeemable despite the fact he is given a minor redemption in MGS4.
>all the shit that other characters said that Big Boss did could've been done by Venom and there's no way to find out.
Most of the stuff that's ambiguous is irrelevant or rather minor, though. Obviously anything to do with FOXHOUND, Solid Snake, and Gray Fox were all Big Boss himself. Smaller shit like Big Boss rescuing Sniper Wolf could've been Venom, I guess, but it's not like it matters.
Why not if Solid is basically BiBo
>Why not
Because Big Boss held all the cards. He was in full control of Outer Heaven and was directly monitoring Snake and feeding him misinformation. The only reason FOXHOUND even sent Gray Fox (and then Snake) into Outer Heaven was so Big Boss could stall for time and keep up appearances. Keeping up appearances was why he reassumed command of FOXHOUND to begin with.
He doesn't know about the legs.
>Smaller shit like Big Boss rescuing Sniper Wolf could've been Venom, I guess, but it's not like it matters.
That's exactly the kind of shit that I wanted in MGSV.
Quiet is "the second best choice"
I dunno
>Venom is a Big Boss clone that has Big Boss' personality doing Big Boss stuff. He's the same as Big Boss, really. Seems like he doesn't understand The Boss' will either. Dunno why Kojima made him mute. Wish I could see Venom and Big Boss working together.
or
>Venom is his own completely unique character with his own personality who was forced by Big Boss to suffer as him, what a tragic lad. Fuck Big Boss, what a bitch. Venom dindu nuffin, he was a pacifist saint that tried to make a world a better place and BIG BOG IS A CUNT WHO REJECTED THE BOSS AND VENOM ACCEPTED HER NIGGA LET'S TORCH BIG BOSS
or
>Venom Snake is Gray Fox. No wait, he's Ishmael. You're playing as the real Big Boss but with schizophrenia. Wait, Venom Snake's Chico. I forgot that Huey is actually Paz.
or
>Venom Snake doesn't exist
or
>Venom Snake is a black transqueer female gender rights activist in many Greenpeace organization who got a sex change to become a man because Venom Snake is your avatar.
or
>VENOM SNAKE WAS ENTIRELY A PLOY TO EXPLAIN WHY BIG BOSS SURVIVED METAL GEAR 1
or
>Venom Snake, Solid Snake, Naked Snake and Raiden are all the same person, Snake
Venom Snake appears to be anything and no one can interpret him correctly. Bravo, Kojima.
>big boss the epitome of male attractiveness
>quiet is a potato
Is Kojimbo secretly gay?
>VENOM SNAKE WAS ENTIRELY A PLOY TO EXPLAIN WHY BIG BOSS SURVIVED METAL GEAR 1
I see this spouted off a lot but it's obviously backwards. Kojima just saw Outer Heaven's destruction as a convenient place to kill off Venom. Having him join forces with Big Boss and die there keeps the continuity somewhat tidy, while also allowing for MGSV to have the ending Kojima wanted instead of having to kill him off in MGSV itself. It's a little clumsy, but I can see why he chose it.
never have i seen anyone using any of these arguments other than the first one
Kek'd a little.
here is a flying squirrel.
There was a MGSV thread last night that had someone using the second argument like an idiot and someone else who opposed it by choosing to yell in a retarded samefagging raging shitfest.
Protip : everything on this list is true.
because Yea Forums hates everything
how new are you?
Get your heroism up
Aside from already being a capable soldier before becoming Venom, the hypnotherapy conducted by Ocelot was designed to make him a MEMETIC clone of Big Boss rather than a GENETIC one, which of course we got three of by the end of the story.
fucking KINO man
he was a field medic, field medics are just as much a soldier as any other, they just have to know how to save lives and do basic surgery on the field on top of it
he wasn't just your average physician you dumdum
>but it's obviously backwards
That's the joke. My whole post intended to
>provide the common interpretations of Venom Snake's existence and purpose
And how every single one except for the first was wrong, stupid and farfetched
Retards use the second argument plenty, have you never been to any Metal Gear thread? The last argument is also common, second next to he second one. Both are retarded, really and just about the rest of them are at a similar level of retardation except for the first.
what's so kino about it
>post YFW MG1 remake is announced at E3
We all knows the remake either is going to be MGS1 or MGS3 because they are a lot more popular with the normies. oh well, maybe we will have a MGR2 in consolation.
but if he was so good why was he a medic and not infantry or whatever
What really happen with Big Boss while Phantom Pain was going on/ Was he in the US making Foxhound?
mgs3 already got a remake, user :)
What are you talking about?
precisely because he was so good, duh
this is war, it's not just a video game user, the point isn't just to make the most frags
a good soldier is one that can stay alive and come back after a mission
turns out it's the same for a medic
Pachinkos aren't remakes your idiot, if that's the case then DMC4 got a remake. Pachinkos aren't made by the same guys, nor even the same division as games.
the fact that this incredibly closed but cool guy opened himself to a friendship with a massive intellectual otaku nerd for the circunstances they went through, a secret handshake is something childish but i think it just shows how close and good friends they are, like a couple of kids doing their thing.
i don't know
Remakes in general are cancer.
I doubt Konami would do a new main game without a remake before to have some fans, even if i would be more hype with a game with The Boss than a remake (except MG1 since it would almost be a new game with all the changes required.)
seething
you know it's true
>Ocelot: The real Big Boss is working separately from us, to create his new nation.
>Kazuhira Miller: New nation...?
>Ocelot: A military nation above and apart from all - the true "Outer Heaven." Something created to maintain world balance. Independent of the struggles for supremacy, for personal profit, the cycles of revenge between countries. It'll be an army all right, but more. Big Boss is building a nation. But... until it's complete, we support the other Big Boss. The phantom carries on his legend... his meme. That, is Big Boss's plan.
He's working on Outer Heaven.
It's not, but if it was i would be fine since i don't want a MGS3 remake, only MG1-2 and maybe MGS1 need one.
>MGSV was originally going to have Huey as Ishmael tell the story, rendering the protagonist a psuedo NPC
>Original Big Boss as the protagonist
>It was cut because Big Boss being an outright evil madman was too blatant especially when it was told from an NPC's POV
mgs1 also got one
>since it would almost be a new game with all the changes required
That doesn't make it a better idea, though. It just makes it even more pointless, if anything. I'd rather have an all-new story with new characters instead of being strung along so twats can clap at recognizable moments.
MGSV is still the best stealth game ever made and I don't think it'll ever be topped.
It is, however, a fucking terrible MGS mainline title.
Also it has this sweet jacket.
Twin snakes is quite old and never was ported so i doubt it really count.
It would still gives the devs more freedom than a remake of MGS3 or MGS1.
but the best MG game for the near future would be MGR2 in the best case scenario, with a game with The Boss in second.
It could be topped by making it so you don't have to spend 10k gmp every time you want to use your fancy stuff
he looks like an action figure
I still don't get ir. Then why did Venon was the one killed when Outer Heaven blew up? Was he there just to create a diversion for the Real Big Boss on FOXHOUND? Or he assumed the control of it when Big Boss went to the US?
What Happened with the Diamond Dogs? Did the base Venon built became Outer Heaven? Or did Big Boss built another base close to DD?
>caring about GMP at all
Just sell diamonds you cheap fuck.
faggot. you're not god.
i dont hate him, he's daddy af and i think he's hot!
what exactly in my post implied that i am?
I know how to grind a pretty unlimited amount of gmp. Just do those virtual battles then spend the points on precious material then sell it, easy money. But what's fucking bothersome is the fact that you only need good guns for a handful of missions, which means that actually investing and using your high tier weapons is pointless and is discouraged through high gmp deployment cost. It's even more retarded when a fully decked out helicopter cost 100k gmp per call.
>Using the AM MRS-4
>ever
MG1 makes sense for one though because the game is so old and barebones they could make a completely new game, slap the general setting and story on it and call it a remake.
Venom eventually joins up with Big Boss. The actual story of MG1 isn't changed by MGSV very much. The only difference is that, instead of Big Boss operating Outer Heaven alone while using FOXHOUND as a cover, he uses FOXHOUND as a cover while also having Venom around to presumably delegate at Outer Heaven. Given Venom joins Big Boss, Diamond Dogs are probably folded into Outer Heaven too. Outer Heaven is in South Africa, same as always. Who knows what happens to DD's Motherbase; it's probably just abandoned or more likely used as a FOB for Outer Heaven's activities.
Even the story need heavy changes with all the retcon that were done.
Oh so like RE7,
a good game but a piece of dogshit RE game
About to play this very inebriated. I will likely not stop till 3-4 in the morning. What am I in for?
Is it possible to mod the survive melee system and weapons in V? i know Survive maps can be played in V, same for the models, but porting a gameplay thing would be another story.
hype
Absolute Kino, a better MG than V, if a sequel is announced at this E3 i'm going to have the biggest boner of my life.
nanomachines son
>he thinks we will get a sequel
lmao konami is not cool they aren't doing shit sorry
The only interesting mission in Phantom Pain was the one where you have to retrieve the honeybee. The other maps were boring.
Pretty good once you understand how to block and parry
RULES OF NATURE
>s so old and barebones they could make a completely new game
That's why it's stupid. Even the story would need to be reworked given how light the narrative actually is. It would inevitably be padded with filler in the plot to fit the standards of contemporary video game stories, and what's added is almost certainly going to be pointless or terrible because there is no room for it to be anything else. Why not go the extra distance and create an all-new game instead? The current continuity is done. We know what happens. Even if you pretend MG1 and MG2 don't even exist because you think sprites are eww icky or whatever we still know what happens because their events are recalled in the rest of the series.
Fulton everyting.
say what you want but it literally have more chance to happen now than ever
>Producer of Rising is now the general MG producer
>Writer confirmed still at Konami, wasn't working on Survive
>Director at plat still interested a lot in MG, says he work on an "unknown project", using the MGR1 ost to get motivated
>One of the two artist work as a freelance for both plat and Konami (he even did some Survive gears)
>all the Konami crew who worked on Rising are still at Konami, same for plat.
>Konami actually seem to try getting better, like Capcom did before
I'm betting a MGR2 before 2021. MGR1 anniversary also was advertized on the MG twitter when they didn't do it for the other years (beside the 2 years) , there's also a shitload of weapons from Rising in Survive, the other weapons are either from V or just new.
Are you an asshole? Nukes are the key to peace.
A fun Platinum game wearing the skin CUT AT WILL from Metal Gear's corpse.
>shitload of weapons from Rising in Survive
Examples? You mean like HF blades?
you asked for it. time and crackers will do it.
The only thing that's worth fultoning are the precious material cargo containers at the airport. Everything else is just "why not"
Well I hope you're right.
wanting the ability to wipe out entire populations without having to make eye contact with them to remain accessible and available to you or anyone else (i doubt you'd want people you disagree with tor oppose to have that ability) in order to have a lazy ticket to maintain lazy power did imply that you felt that way of yourself, or felt that way of others.
He doesn't know
There's the stun blade used by Raiden, most of the basic weapons used by cyborg soldiers (the HF machete, the HF stun baton and the big ass Hammer from the heavy cyborgs ) and khamsin's axe (the only boss weapon Raiden didn't got so i guess it got sucked.).
They can be, but they are also a tool to easily kill massive amounts of people, more specifically non-combatants for the most part.
you are surpisingly correct with that analysis, user.
I liked the Soviet Base Camp and oilfield a lot. The airport wasn't bad either.
Next MGS better not go fucking open world and just have a lot of maps like Ground Zeroes.
the next mgs better be good.
For all the talk about how great BigBoss is, he sure was the weakest of them all. Even a Medic was better than him.
Oh I agree, it's pretty pointless, I'm just saying from a business standpoint it makes the most sense. They'll never reboot Metal Gear, linking future games to the main canon is what makes people care about the story.
I love MG2 so I wouldn't want a remake of it, but MG1 might be interesting just to see young Snake and Venom interact outside of pixels.
You mean Peace Walker, don't you ?
If Murata is on it, then it will be.
Guy was supposed to replace Kojima since MGS4, and now it's finally his time.
i kinda feel bad for him for the fact his game will 100% get compared to Death Stranding but still. i just hope he won't try to replicate Kojima but actually do his own thing like he did back then with ZOE2.
No, i mean a lot of maps like the Camp Omega from GZ, that was very well designed. the maps would still be linked with each other but the game woudn't be fully open world.
Reminder
MGS2 > MGS1 > MGS3 > MGSV TPP > MGSV GZ > MGS4 = MGS PW
THIS.
>"The [game] experience"
>the entire video is just the same sound effects from trolling videos in 2013 over and over
Can someone give me a quick rundown on Big Boss?
What i am for Yea Forums?
already finished MGA1 yesterday, it was alright even if it had some very annoying shit.
is the story as weird as MGA1? and i thought Survive had a weird story...
Solid > Big
because Yea Forums hates herself
based
my favorites are MGS4 and PW.
I like gunporn.
>he thinks there will be another mgs
>ever
Why was Big Boss and Venom Snake such chads while Solid let himself get fucked over by everyone?
Say what you want about Survive, but seing the MSF attack from the pov of an MSF grunt and a little of the aftermatch was pretty good.
A fun little spin off, far from the main games but still fun.
He's not evil he's a threat to other nations, and they wanted him taken out.
Classic staple that's flawed but timeless
>Pokemon Red & Blue
>MGS1
Overhyped sequel with great recognition, with nifty expansion pack
>Pokemon Gold & Silver
>Pokemon Crystal
>MGS2
>MGS2 Substance
Absolute kino with great expansion pack that makes everything better
>Pokemon Ruby & Sapphire
>Pokemon Emerald
>MGS3
>MGS3 Subsistence
he killed them both
It's the last game and we don't even get to play as Big Boss. What a slap in the face. Also he already pulled that shit back in mgs2. Hackjima no wonder he got fired from Konami.
And What did he get in the end?
Nothing, he got cucked and only his best friend will remember him
>solidus that fucking low
solidus>all
Only if its rational actors who can procure them.
imagine if the next mgs is better than fucking death stranding. that would kill kojima
Considering it's the biggest Konami IP beside PES and that it's showed everywhere when talking about the digital entertainement branch, yes we will.
>They'll never reboot Metal Gear
Maybe not, but it's undoubtedly the best creative choice going forward. Metal Gear is synonymous with KojiPro, and with them gone the last thing Konami wants to do is invite unfavorable comparisons to their work. A new continuity with new characters would allow for this switch to feel more natural and fluid. And would also, of course, but the most liberating for whatever poor schmuck is put in charge of it.
>linking future games to the main canon is what makes people care about the story.
There's nowhere left to go with it.
The whole series is literally revolver ocelot being gay for big boss
I enjoyed the gameplay and open world aspects, but the open world maps were dead and boring. Venom was a boring character with a shit VA because Kojimmy wanted to blow tons of money to get twatter selfies with a B list actor. The engine was pretty good on the PC, my custom tracks were awesome, but overall, the game started amazing with the hospital prologue and just fell apart after that.
I'm also not going to bother with Death Stranding because Kojima is obsessed with idiotic action scenes with random jet engine sound effects and bullet time. Seriously, fuck that guy. I know he built a career on plagiarism, but couldn't he have plagiarized something better from Twin Snakes?
That would be pretty funny, but i don't think you could really compare both games. they aren't even the same genre.
I think they will do a soft reboot in the future, with only Otacon and maybe Sunny and Meryl (the colonel won't return because he's too old and Raiden will most likely die in his next game) with a new protagonist. If they need a snake, time to create Liquidus, Plasma and Gas snake i guess.
Solid is the best Snake. Dude was supposed to be the inferior clone, and yet he pretty much defeated anyone that was standing in his way. He also fought for his own beliefs and was never held back because of some daddy issues like his brothers.
Venom is second best, pretty much pulled the Big Boss thing better than the original until he learned the truth and was like "OK, guess I'll just follow orders once again" ignoring the fact that he was used to clean the shit BB and Zero left behind.
I'm hoping that the actual map creation stuff the modding scene's working on and honing down will come to fruition eventually.
see
>Could of had a MGSV with tons of cutscenes with Kiefer voice acting and punk rock playing in the background of burning battlefields
>Get a copy pasta world that feels like a chink MMO
What fucking happened? MGSV was my first MGS game and I so god damn disappointed that it was nothing like the first four.
Like I said dead and forgotten
It's not fully map creation, and it's more like editing the existing map. and it's in a very rought shape right now.
i guess you can still use the side ops creator on survive's maps in the meantime. youtube.com
second best is Pliskin tho.
Just like Venom and Big Boss, so much that an identical clone was elected as president an nobody questioned the fact that he looked exactly like the legendary soldier.
>tfw next MG just is a MGSV-2 with the unused shit like Kof, adult chico and new shit like the start of outer heaven, ending the game with Solid vs Venom
would you like it?
Childhood is idolizing Big Boss.
Adulthood is realizing David's ideology is the best one of them all.
Being forgotten is all I was asking for.
Even if the story was awful, I could play something using MGSV's gameplay for a very long time if I actually had shit to do with well-designed environments and places to stealth through, and not just run around in an empty world fultoning everything.
isn't David ideology the same as the boss?
The only based and redpilled character in MG is Raiden post MGRR ending, can wait to see where the fucker will go.
Daily reminder that Solidus is best Snake and all other characters in this franchise are retards and literal autists in the case of Big Boss, Sonny, and Solid Snake.
He was great, but only was in MGS1 for a few lines of dialogue and was in the background for most of MGS2.
Considering the main cowriter of MG since 3 + MGR writer are still at Konami, i don't think the story would have an issue.
Even Survive, as weird and rushed it was, was alright (even if it was written by an absolute who, so a small member unlike Murata and Etsu Tamari.)
How is abandoning one’s family to embark on a murderous rampage against the social structure of one’s society a based and redpilled thing?
Man who served army who got disillusioned after he felt as if he was mistreated after a critical mission during the Cold War where had to kill his mentor.
Goes on to start a paramilitary army after he got cloned without permission.
Ends up being unable to resist how sweet and juicy the horrors of war. Rejects his mentor because of this.
Also ends up developing a nuke, which is where he turns antiheroic, falling from grace.
Paramilitary gets destroyed, and he and his gang barely survive a chopper crash except for a boy and a girl. Combat medic is willing to die for him, daring to take the chances he has to protect Big Boss, even if he might suffer in hell or any other life he could possibly be put through.
His former partner from the CIA makes a body double from the combat medic who survived the crash and protected him. Brainwashed with all of Big Boss' memories, muscle memory, skills, mindset and beliefs to make essentially another Big Boss.
His secret friend, Ocelot, tells him all about it and agrees to have the body double protect him because Ocelot says that "he wanted it", meaning what I just said earlier about the combat medic.
His body double gets revenge in a new paramilitary while he starts Outer Heaven, a warmongering military nation in secret.
Big Boss and his body double later join up in Outer Heaven. With the body double being complicit with Big Boss all the way, they plan a massive warmongering scheme to take over the whole world with a nuclear stockpile while manipulating everybody that they come across.
A nuclear weapon firing robot called the
>"TX-55"
less dangerous than the "ST-84" that the body double encountered earlier, fought, captured and retired because of it's destructiveness while still being very destructive for it's minuscule size (somewhere around the formation of Outer Heaven, the body double became completely alright with using destructive weapons like these) is in development.
Mades me wonder
what if we don't play Raiden in an MGR2?
What if we play his son, now an adult, asked to kill him?
He should have been Gray Fox.
How are Kikongo hunting when playing TPP right user?
Are they any mods that rebalance all the base shit to be entirely single player including the shit patched in later? I'd play it again if I could reasonably max everything without paying extra.
comfy
Is Survive halfway decent? like say, buy it during a sale?
play on PS3, user
user, that is a horrible premise.
Raiden and his family deserves peace, not suffering
You don't know how to KINO.
With the ending of Rising, i'm not sure he will have a good ending, he's kinda too far now.
at best he could die like The Boss, but with his son (actually called John just like Big Boss so it's funny) not doing the errors of the past.
at worst Raiden becomes a weird mix of Big Boss, Solidus and The Boss.
>Big Boss' arm is copied from Kaz, except lazily resized, fat looking and with sharper elbows
>Ishmael's arms are copied from Kaz
>The arms of all male DD soldiers are all copied from Kaz
>They all have the same arm, finger and palm length
Is everybody a Kaz clone?
Yes because he has one in his backyard dumbfuck
>solidus at the bottom
fool
MB coins and FOB raid grinds, not paying for online. Even something that just makes all online research part of normal gameplay and nerfs the research costs for anything that requires more then a maxed out MB to only require that.
Butchering character arcs is not "kino." Rising already fucked things up itself, though. So who cares about what Rising 2 does.
If I understood him correctly, Solid's ideology is basically "Fuck ideologies. You do you and I'll do me." He'll fight so that everyone can have the freedom that The Boss envisioned, so that no one would be held down by ideologies that would most likely bring harm to them. If that isn't the most fundamentally American thing ever, I don't know what is.
He's also the only Snake with a working moral compass.
Didn't kojima personally beg for them to cancel the PS360 versions?
Reeve from MG Survive also literally is made from a modified Kaz model, and characterwise he's literally XOF character with "muh kids" and all.
Kaz is popular even with the devs i guess.
No, it implies that Kaz has the ideal male body
SHOW ME A GOOD TIME JACK
...
>a xof character
i mean a "XOF KAZ", got a brainfart.
Solidus is at least top 3
>tfw MGR2
>Raiden can now switch with Sam's sword and his sword, using Sam gameplay from the DLC when using his sword.
>Did Huey called us?
The plan gets foiled by Solid Snake, a rookie from Big Boss' decoy unit called FOXHOUND. Solid Snake infiltrates Outer Heaven, with Big Boss intention being that Solid Snake dies so that he would have more time with the body double to develop the TX-55.
Solid Snake proves Big Boss wrong and quashes the body double while Big Boss is away.
Big Boss, in shock goes extremely rogue, leaves the decoy unit entirely and attempts at starting Outer Heaven all over again at Zanzibar, winning territory from an independence war. The plan goes further, with mass deployable nuclear weapon firing robots called "G", and an improved version of "TX-55" called "D".
Solid Snake is called in by the brand spanking new FOXHOUND to infiltrate Zanzibar's Outer Heaven, or rather, "Zanzibar Land", to kill Big Boss again(!), once and for all. Big Boss' psychopathy, with him wanting to take over the world with nukes spreading global eternal war breaks Solid Snake's heart in half, as Solid Snake himself proceeds to kill Big Boss with a flamethrower made out of an aerosol spray can and a cigarette lighter.
I don’t think Raiden is even capable of being a Boss-like figure. He is too stupid, too uncharismatic, too unstable, and too unsuited to warfare in general to ever really be a competent leader, let alone a living legend like the Boss was. At best, I can see Raiden dying alone, from a combination of wounds and homeostatic imbalances, if he continues on his warpath
>tfw whole game would be Raiden trying to be something like the boss
>it's a bad ending, showing he just was a killer and nothing else.
...
Yea Forums is not a hivemind
I like the way idea of a bad ending, but depicting Raiden as a killer is simultaneously too unkind and charitable if an ending. He is a lost innocent, yet also a manic squanderer (at least in his MGR incarnation)
>he forgot his whole backstory being the top child soldier in thr liberian civil war
I don't think Raiden need a real bad ending, more like a bittersweet one.
But i doubt very much he will survive.
>Venom never got to make love to Quiet
Feels bad bros
It does not take much leadership skill to lead a bunch of other half-starved, crackhead child soldiers, especially when he is favored by the homicidal adults in the room and has the biggest dick out of everyone
How can Raiden and his associates have a bittersweet ending? He is dragging down to Hell everyone with him, going against the world like that
>his associates
isn't Raiden alone at the end of Rising?
Nah, he has Sunny, Bladewolf, and his family. And even then, Maverick still supports him
>the world in general is shit, both maps are mostly unreachable areas and the playable areas have like 5 actual bases with nothing other than tiny outposts between them. would've loved some urban section at least
How I wish we had more countries to play on. Kojamas really dropped the ball.
>tfw they touch Sunny
Time for another breakdown from Otacon, confirmed to be even more depressed at the time of MGRR because he miss David + can't date girls beside one night stands because he's afraid they will die.
Otacon will likely die before they touch Sunny
If they kill Otacon i'm going to cry like a bitch honestly.
How come everyone Otacon wants to smash ends up dying
A great way to hammer home the costs of Raiden’s crusade, is it not?
>That's exactly the kind of shit that I wanted in MGSV.
My God, I'll never forget those final pre-V days rewatching Sniper Wolf's death in MGS1 and wondering what crazy shenanigans Kojima would make us do so she could be introduced.
;.;
Raven and Wolf should have absolutely been Buddies in MGSV. It just makes too much sense.
Imagine how qt young Sniper Wolf would have been
>No MGSR
bump
Why do people think that Raiden and Sunny have a special relationship in 4?
he saved her from area 51. and also was close to Olga.
You can't. Best you could do is gut a vape and put it in a metal tube housing after working it a bit for the aesthetic
Ye, I get why Sunny would want to have a bond with him, but Raiden does not seem to return the favor. He seems to ignore her all through out 4, with the exception of the scene before his sacrifice (and even then, he seems to care for her little, given that he choose to get run over than drag Snake out of the way). I know Kojima want to humanize him with his bond with Sunny, but is he not humanized enough?
>Miller wtf? Yeah I got my agent to steal your metal gear to launch a nuke at the united states to frame you if you didn't join me, but I would never ever set up some c4 and simply blow you guys up and kill you all thats insane
can someone explain this to me
Raiden in 4 was kinda shitty, i know he was edgy and all but be was a way better character in MGRR, kinda ironic since it isn't a kojima game.
I like Big Medic. Wish they had Hayter voice Ishmael in the redo of the prologue and the tape recording
That small touch alone would have added so much more impact.
kiefer is the replacement for the snake archetype in general (solid, big, and venom). hes still voiced by akio ohtsuka in japanese.
hayter fucking sucks
>Naomi Hunter: Vulcan Raven is half Native Alaskan American and half Inuit. He was raised as a shaman and they say he has supernatural powers. During the Cold War, he trained in Russia with the Bimpel, the Soviet special forces. In 1993, he was demoted by President Yeltsin following his coup d'etat. So he fled the country and became a mercenary. After that, he joined those rent-a-war bastards at Outer Heaven Inc
what year does phantom pain take place, dumb ass
and Sniper Wolf would be an infant or a toddler, 3000km from kabul afghanistan
Ehh, I prefer his character 4 to his character in MGR. It had a purity and emotionality which his other incarnations lacked, made sense considering what he went through, and I love myself some babies
Konami said Hayter was the definitive voice of Snake and he voiced Snake in bomberman R.
So sorry user but Hayter is coming back.
as a consolation prize : he can do his old voice again.
kojima thought you would like it if there was more gameplay since everyone is always up his ass about it.. wait a sec...
>first four
that fucking literal walking simulator shit?
>MGSV was my first MGS game
you have to be 18 to post here
>Olga
ruby and sapphire are shit
>Metal Gear Thread
>pretending that anyone gives a shit about the timeline
Which is why Emerald made it so great.
Original MGS3 was shit, it needed an expansion pack to make it great too.
original MGS3 is a masterpiece. the subsistence camera is for shiteaters and why all of kojimas games after MGS3 are inferior
>Konami said Hayter was the definitive voice of Snake and he voiced Snake in bomberman R.
who cares and I was talking about MGSV
>So sorry user but Hayter is coming back.
>as a consolation prize : he can do his old voice again
he was never good and I dont care
Did you play the game? He told Otacon after the credits rolled that he needed to go out and die alone. Otacon said he wanted to go with him to bear witness, but Snake said no.
You should play Ghost Babel on Hard. I had more fun doing that instead of Metal Gear Acid.
This guy is a troll. Do not feed him.
if the novel is canon, Snake died in 2015 after traveling the world with Otacon and Sunny, in his bed, a smile to his face.
Already finished it, Ghost Babel legit deserve a remake for being just a very good MG game. the story could be made a little more deep but it doesn't need a lot of changes.
He didn't fight for what he believed in. That's what Big Boss did. Solid and Otacon only deactivated the Metal Gears of the world because they felt it was their duty to do so.
Big Boss fought for war's sake, he doesn't give a shit about beliefs.
>Solid's ideology
It depends on the game. MGS1, 2, 4 and post-4 Snake differ a fair bit.
its the truth and you know it, Third-Person-Shooter-baby
So is Big Boss basically an evil version of Solid Snake?
He fought for the Boss' vision. Rather, his idea of her vision.
If Snake was voiced by David fucking Moo originally I'd still advocate it.
It'd be a nice way to show that Yeah, you were playing as fake snek, here's real snek to explain it to you.
>Rejected her entirely and threw away her bandana because of his (and his phantom's?) incapability ti live without war
Dude, nigga, he reiterates this in MG2 with a cold, brutal expression
>The only thing that satisfies your cravings is WAR!
You mean he says no at first. The way he says "Otacon..." at the end means he probably accepted.
>Trashed her bandana
>Ending speech in PW is basically "WILL DO ANYTHING FOR WAR"
Prease understand.
I feel like I was robbed of an explanation. Not of Big Boss's downfall, because MGS3 was more than enough for that. No, I was robbed of how the fuck Big Boss went from being a paramilitary leader in an endless war with Zero, to working for fucking FOXHOUND and training the clones he never wanted.
It's the feeling I got when I bought MGS2, but after a couple weeks and another playthrough, I started to love that game for what it is.
MGSV, I still hold a very strong distaste for overall.
>Tfw Konami do a true game about Big Boss downfall
Considering how great MGR was (in my subjective opinion), I'm more than happy to accept another developer making Metal Gear games, as long as they actually give a shit.
Which may be likely seeing as the Pachinko business is influx due to some Japanese political/law shit (or so I've heard), and also because IF Konami wants to stay even halfway in the games business, you can bet your fuckin' ass that they'd rather just outsource everything and not have to actually fund their own dev team (especially after their experience with Kojima's ridiculous time/cost ratio.)
That's what my dumb-dumb imagination says, anyway.
Next MG game, if not MGR, will probably be made by Konami themselves, maybe that's why most of their recent games are outsourced : they are getting everyone on this.
What most people often forget is that most of the old kojipro is still at Konami, less than 50% of the new kojipro are old guys, the new kojipro is less than 100 people and there's a lot of new guys.
and in those that stayed at Konami there were some important guys, that weren't working on Survive, so they have to be working on something...Konami also probably didn't do a restructure last year, adding a new studio, for nothing konami.com
and it's true about the Pachinko, and not just for Konami, that's probably also the reason of why Capcom are making a lot of games again, they were just quicker.
Also, fun fact : one of the main developer of the MG serie that left after 4 actually returned at Konami in 2017, but he also wasn't on Survive, so they have to work on something, they can't be doing nothing for almost 5 years...
I hope it turns out well. I hope that Survive is not a trend, because good holy god that game was a piece of shit. I am legitimately ashamed that I played it at all.
>also the reason why Capcom is making games again
Dude it broke my fucking heart to hear they're outsourcing RE3:Remake to some random developers. Their constant outsourcing is what killed their quality to begin with.
Seriously, what the fuck? After making consistently fucking astounding games recently in every one of their main franchises (other than sf, those pricks), suddenly they're going back to what ruined them? FUCK.
I don't know who you're talking about. In my brain I pray it's Fukushima, but I know it won't be and that's depressing.
Pliskin was a douche, I'm glad he got written out as soon as Solid comes back around.
It's not fukushima, it's one of the main programmer that returned, he probably left because working with Kojima is damn hard.
But still have Murata (main writer since MGS3, also had a role in MGS2), and the rising writer for the story.
I had some funs with Survive, but i don't see it as a big game, just as a little spin off like acid 1, in no ways i would compare it to a main game or rising, but i don't think it's complete shit either, just i don't know, "meh".
But Survive was a low budget game, to the point where most characters are modified version of V characters (Example : Miranda is a modified Quiet, Reeve is a modified Miller, Dan is a modified Avatar...) and while it had developers from V on it, it wasn't the really big guys like Murata, and the game was made in the worst period of Konami.
I still think a new MG is going to be announced this year, could be a remake, could be MGR2, could be a new game, but i think something is coming.
at least Survive had actual boss unlike V.
>It's not fukushima
rip
>at least Survive had actual boss unlike V.
Dude, you deserve a gold star for optimism, because you can still somehow find joy in those absolutely dogshit bosses. They were nothing but annoying for me to fight.
IF they announce a new Metal Gear game, here are my potential predictions:
>MG1 / MG2 remake(s)
>MGR2
>Pointless MGS1 remake
>MGS6 with some excuse to bring back Solid Snake using genome therapy or something because the cyborg industry is crashing
>he thinks he knows better than kojima
user, Rising Writer and Murata are still here so something good can still happen, Rising and ZOE2 had a fantastic story, and Murata was always forced to do the story of Kojima before, him doing an original story like he did with ZOE2 would be interesting.
Solid snake is confirmed dead, but a new snake could be born, maybe a true artificial snake plot twist of the game is that he is just an IA. call him Liquidus Snake since it would make him since it's the contrary of Solidus (the perfect clone) : he is the worst clone since he's not really one.
for the boss in Survive
Seth was kinda shitty since he's just a wanderer with all the powers and some new attacks, but Big Mouth was pretty good , especially when using explosive barrels and Melee weapons. Frostbite was too easy with a sniper rifle tho.
The endings of Survive also were alright : the erasing the story of the canon was pretty meta, and the alternate ending was actually well thought.
I don't think i hate this.
Sons of Liberty at it's finest.
>No, I was robbed of how the fuck Big Boss went from being a paramilitary leader in an endless war with Zero, to working for fucking FOXHOUND and training the clones he never wanted.
He went to the United States (Ocelot gives him that passport) and publicly rejoined FOXHOUND (he founded it between 3 and PW) while Venom did the OH building in secret. Try playing the game
Fukushima wrote optional codecs
Murata fucking sucks. all he did for mgs2 was one of those small text entries in the menu, while he co-directed the flaming shitheap that was MGS4
chapter 2 is the postgame, genius
>Solid snake is confirmed dead
1) confirmed where
2) they could very easily just retcon that to say "he's dead... according to the government!" or some shit. It's not like they haven't retcon'd plenty before.
MGS4 was a strange game.
Murata was supposed to be the director, but after a shitload of death treats to both him and Kojima, Kojima was forced to return to calm the fans, and that's probably why the game is so fanservice, but by being director, Kojima took all the liberty Murata had.
Play zoe2 if you want a game 100% made by Murata, they remastered it last year and it was a good one.
Zero and BB were trying to kill each other for decades, and then he just gets to waltz the fuck in and Zero happily accepts his return? Fucking WHAT?
Raiden literally talk about him in the past sense. And otacon is said to miss him. It's like no one listen to the codec on rising.
There's also in rising called Snake's soul, said to have the soul of a legendary soldier, and it's a blade that talk with Snake voice.
MGS2 > MGS3 > powergap > MG2 > GZ > PW > powergap > TPP > MGS > MGS4 > MG
>Rising Writer
Okay, I'm on board again. Rising was ridiculous, but god damn that was the most fun I've had with a Metal Gear story since MGS3.
That ending was so self aware and yet also earnest it broke my mind with laughter.
A weapon called Snake's soul*
Got a brainfart.
I still love the conversation in rising about metal gear excelsus, saying that even if it's called metal gear, it's not really one, Making the metal gear a "spin off" of the orignal mechs, just like the game itself.
>Zero and BB were trying to kill each other for decades, and then he just gets to waltz the fuck in and Zero happily accepts his return? Fucking WHAT?
Zero and BB were only "trying to kill each other" (more like Zero wanting BB to join him, and BB wanting to be left alone) for the few months between PW and GZ. Zeros already a vegetable by the time BB wakes up. BB/VS never engage Cipher/The Patriots seriously until 1995. E.g. Ocelot tells you not to shoot the Cipher helicopter in the mission Cursed Legacy because the time hasnt come
>hurr durr brand allegory gud
>Snake's soul, said to have the soul of a legendary soldier, and it's a blade that talk with Snake voice.
That is obviously not canon.
>talk about him in the past sense
AND talks about him in the present as well. They kept it vague. Here are some examples of present tense:
>In terms of pure combat ability, he is one of the greatest soldiers I've ever seen
Keyword: IS, not WAS.
>He knows what's right and he just gets it done
Keywords: KNOWS and GETS, not KNEW and GOT.
>No one can stop him
Keyword: CAN, not Could.
>I've learned a lot from him
Keyword: I'VE, not just I
Raiden says nothing past tense. Kevin has two lines of dialogue that refer to Snake in the past tense, but that's it:
>Did Snake know he had a stalker?
Which could just mean that Raiden used to be a stalker, literally made to be just like Snake, but is now his own man.
>I just wish I got to meet the guy, you know?
Admittedly this looks really bad from my position, but Kevin could still easily mean "in his hay day" or "before he retired".
Another example: imagine you got a job at Konami and worked with Kojima's right hand man, but Kojima had just left the company, and you never got to meet him. You'd probably phrase it like this.
FOR THE RECORD: He could totally be dead, but they've kept it vague enough to have their options open.
I love that ending so much. All that kojima ron paul-ass yahoo answers 'the world is rigged' conspiracy theory bullshit compressed into one long scene that maintains awareness.
And the best part is.
It wasn't even made by Kojima yet was almost perfect.
Seriously people better not fucking cry if a rising 2 is announced because Kojima did jackshit for Rising 1.
Well, I guess only the future will tell, but he's most likely dead. At best I guess he could be in a cyborg body. But it woudn't explain why Otacon isn't very well.
My problem with Venom is that a lot of newfags who play only V like him more than Big Boss solely because the ending enabled them to self-insert as a badass merc with mute big tiddy sniper waifu.
And kojimbo seems to forgot his own message of "Rorepraying as sordier is baddo." he made in MGS2 with Raiden's dog tag and what not.
Yeah, Rising is the reason I'm (kind of) not worried for the future of the franchise, as long as Konami doesn't pull a Survive again.
Survive was directed by a fairly secondary guy and written by a literal who, the bigger guy have to work on something else in the meantime.
Only time will tell what, but if we are lucky maybe it will be revealed in less than a week.
I know Kojima isn't involved anymore, but here's a direct quote from him about MGR:
>This is not a game about our beloved Solid Snake. It is a spinoff that tries something different. We have not yet finished with Solid Snake, despite the fact that I wanted to let him die at the end of Guns of the Patriots
So, as of MGR's original release, Kojima considered Snake to be alive. Whether that's changed, who knows, but there you go.
>At best I guess he could be in a cyborg body
Or they figure out a way to reverse the accelerated aging, and Snake has been comatose in bed while the genome shit slowly fixes him, just in time for an international incident to occur that only he can solve, restored to his MGS2-era form.
I remember reading a big greentext about that once.
It was dumb.
I liked it.
It's Metal Gear, they can pull whatever they want out of their asses.
Kojima have a boner for big boss. The Kojima of V and now isn't the old guy he was before. 2 was made 14 years before V so he kinda changed. To the point where he said big boss was a better character because "solid isn't a real human" he somewhat developed an hate boner for solid snake.
>it wouldn't exlain why Otacon isn't very well
Maybe he's stressed the fuck out because his best friend and borderline platonic life partner has been horribly ill in bed for multiple years while they do the clone equivalent to chemotherapy
I always forget that Solidus existed.
I think having a new snake, or just an ia snake, would be better than solid returning on the battlefield when he clearly said he would stop it.
Because we are all venom snake. Easy answer: Yea Forums is full of self loathing individuals.
>maybe it will be revealed in less than a week
why?
>written by a literal who
Okay, the writing was garbage, but my problem was more about the gameplay being tedious, controlling like crap, and just sucking big juicy dick constantly.
Plot twist :
>solid is dead, but otacon secretly cloned him against his will because he was willing too sad, but he fucking regret his act now.
>used to be a comfy field medic in big boss' ocean clubhouse for sauna enthusiasts
>waifu dies
>haunted by paz
>job duties include shooting your own men and napalming sick kids
>big boss and ocelot are using him and plan to get rid of him sooner or later
>sees himself as a demon, and tries to overcome it (disarmament), but ultimately goes full demon and becomes a nuclear warmonger (mg1) and is killed and nobody will know he even existed. doesnt get a deathbed repentance and reunion with his son like big boss does
"His country, His family, His face - His identity. Everything was stolen from him."
>what is e3
>ia snake
I don't know what that means, maybe I'm being an idiot.
>a new snake
maybe you're right, I don't know. I'm just saying that after the clusterfuck that was MGSV, and the semi-trainwreck named MGS4, I would not be opposed to some hardcore fanservice.
Fanservice is what got us MGS3 after everyone seemed to hate MGS2 and Kojima was under pressure. Now is the time to do that again, and maybe we could get a truly incredible, satisfying experience. Or maybe I'm retarded.
In the greentext pitch I remember reading, there were terrorists who wanted the new super fast cloning shit they got (your excuse for the new Snake clone being old enough to play as), so they could presumably clone Big Boss, but when New-Snake finally fights their leader, it turns out they wanted to clone THE Boss. And Snake was too late, they'd already succeeded.
It was so stupid but I can't help loving that kind of crap. It reminds me of a simpler time before shit like Peace Walker and MGSV.
There's E3, and I doubt Konami is here just for the MG board game that is coming, my by the specter ops guy.
As for the controls, while the lead programmer and enemy programmers were old guys, the player programmer wasn't one, that's maybe the cause of the clunky controls. (even if there's worse, there's also far better.)
But a very important programmer of the serie returned at konami in 2017 so I don't worry for that.
>controlling like crap
its literally just improved MGSV
yeah, i know, dude. i'm saying, when the hell as konami given a shit about e3 in the last, fuckin, eight years.
The boss should return as the antagonist of mgr2.
Think about it, the IA pod wasn't destroyed. But the IA in a cyborg body and you have a killing machine.
typo for
>a snake
you goon
>after the semi-trainwreck named MGS4, I would not be opposed to some hardcore fanservice
MGS4 was pure fanservice
>Fanservice is what got us MGS3 after everyone seemed to hate MGS2
the story in MGS3 sucks
Considering they seem to try getting better in the vidya industry, they could be there.
If not, there's still gamescom or Tgt, or even the games awards.
the controls arent clunky at all, and I have 500+ hours on MGSV and 80~ on survive. its entirely an improvement
I mean tgs.
I really have to sleep I'm starting to bug.
Using spears and shit to jab at those not-zombies felt absolutely awful to me. You can disagree, but I capital-H hated the feeling of the weapons and building and whatnot.
Well, I hope you're right.
E3 and general game news has been kind of off my radar recently, so I'm not an authority on the subject. Yeah, I hope you're right. Even if it sucks, I want to see something done with my favorite franchise. I can always ignore it if it's bad, just like I ignore Survive.
Gamescom seems more likely, 'cus would Game Awards really welcome them after taking a big dump on them for kicking Kojima out?
I don't know, it was just my feeling after 250 hours of survive, but maybe that's because I mostly play with melee weapons.
>Using spears and shit to jab at those not-zombies felt absolutely awful to me. You can disagree, but I capital-H hated the feeling of the weapons and building and whatnot.
why the hell are you using spears and not bows?
Pes was in the sport award for the games awards last year so I doubt they would just refuse Konami for a personal shit. And beside, the Kojima drama is almost 5 years old now, time to love on.
But without Ocelot and Cipher's scheme, Medic would still be a vegetable or outright dead. The only reason he is alive or be able to wake up is the top-notch treatment/techs funded by Cipher.
Now, which fate is better? Roleplaying AND becoming your idol, a living legend, while banging a qt3.14 sniperfu and leading your own personal army(came with a badass wolf-dog) with a downside of ptsd and having to do some horrific shit. Or lying in your bed unconsious the rest of your life until someone took a pity and pulled the plug.
Spears in general is shit, nobody use it in the endgame for a reason.
Two handed blades and hammers are the real shit.
>i hated spears but used them for 250 hours
Do you mean AI, not IA? Because I truly don't know what IA would mean.
I'd accept The Boss as an MGR2 antagonist. That'd be the perfect amount of retarded for a sequel to the craziness that was MGR.
>MGS4 was pure fanservice
It was pure shitty fanservice and it went overboard. Kojima either failed to understand what the fans wanted or actively sabotaged those desires.
Think about it:
>Fans loved Psycho Mantis, but he just sticks him in MGS4 without thinking about how it ruins his character arc.
>Fans love the old bosses with personality, so he just sticks the names and weapons on sad women like that's enough to make us give a shit.
>Fans love Solid Snake, but he makes him a grumpy old man whose back hurts all the time instead of the optimistic hero we wanted to play as in MGS2
>Fans liked the Johnny easter eggs, so he thoughtlessly makes him a main character who does Mr. and Mrs. Smith bullshit
I consider that a world of difference away from the "fanservice" of just making a classically Metal Gear game with unique bosses and a protagonist we love.
>5 years
.
.
.
Fuck.
It was just an example. I really hated the entire game.
If you can enjoy it, I am very happy for you, but I couldn't. I resented it's existence and felt like a dumbass for buying it.
Well, he didn't turn into a demon like the advertisements told me he would.
Oh yeah, ai.
Sorry, ia is ai iny language. And since I'm tired as fuck I switch the two. Gotta sleep after this post.
Yeah, I need to pass out as well. I have work in like four hours.
Good thread, though.
Would a snake revenge remake be kino?
>the story of MGS3 sucks
Every single bone in my body could not disagree with you more, and if I didn't have to leave the thread I would write a giant wall of text that would absolutely not change your mind at all.
Survive isn't for everyone, like most spin offs I guess, even if I don't think the game deserved all the hate, I can clearly see why a fan could not like it.
But people saying survive killed the franchise are fucking stupid. Survive was just a small spin off for me and nothing more.
Only if they keep the villain's names as Higharolla Kockamamie and Vermon CaTaffy.
Fucking hysterical.
MG2 Solid Snake is already MGS in 2D so just play that
yeah, that's a dumb thing to say, and I wouldn't say it killed the franchise at all. I just don't like the game, end of story, no biggie, who gives a shit. I wish it were good, and I don't think it is. If others like it, great. Whatever.
>But without Ocelot and Cipher's scheme, Medic would still be a vegetable or outright dead. The only reason he is alive or be able to wake up is the top-notch treatment/techs funded by Cipher.
he wouldnt be injured in the first place if Zero hadnt employed and empowered maniacs like SF
>Now, which fate is better? Roleplaying AND becoming your idol, a living legend, while banging a qt3.14 sniperfu and leading your own personal army(came with a badass wolf-dog) with a downside of ptsd and having to do some horrific shit. death. he isnt called "punished" snake for nothing. quiet and d-dog are optional content
>Cipher send us to hell... but were going even deeper
>I know. Im already a demon...
metal gear
>Kojima either failed to understand what the fans wanted or actively sabotaged those
outside of a very small group mostly on the snake soup the general fandom was overjoyed and theres countless apologists to this day
Then I guess I'm retarded. Who knows.
My relationship with that game is VERY love/hate.
he does you just need to build a nuke
>mg1
>mg2 (retread of mg1 but with an actual story this time)
>mgs (retread of mg2 but with cutscenes and voice acting)
>mgs2 (retread of mgs but is self aware and has fun with it)
>mgs3 (retread of mgs that kojima did not want to make, almost all the characters are just sucky versions of past characters playing out the same plot with the cheese factor turned up to 11 as if to spit on you for rejecting 2)
yeah yeah yeah the boss is alright. still nowhere near as based as solidus
Xbros, survive is on game pass, but I can't actually try it out because I'm waiting on a paycheck, is it any good/worth renewing gamepass? I have friends to play with as well, so it being dead is nothing for me.
theres a lot of good stuff on game pass and its cheap so what do you think
Well, I know that there's some good gracky on game pass but I feel like I never actually use any of it because I'm a buycuck and own most of the really good stuff already. I'm just asking if survive alone is worth 10$.
Survive is complete and utter dog shit.
he's supposed to be Naked Snake/Big boss, but he lacks almost all of the charm due to barely having any lines. Worse, he retroactively makes the real BB look worse because he's the one responsible for half of that man's accomplishments.
>DUDE YOU MURDERED ALL THOSE PEOPLE WITH WHITE PHOSPHOROUS
but it was the only way to continue in the game
>YOU'D KILL PEOPLE JUST TO PLAY A GAME?
yeah... since it's a game...
I bet your the only other MGS player on.
[/Spoiler]I'm the other, you're trooper
It's alright. Especially if you liked V gameplay.
Just don't judge the game on the first two hours, it gets better.
Because Yea Forums *is* venom snake, and Yea Forums hates themselves.
hurr durr i dont know how to relate to characters cuz muh bing bing WAHOO
I still fucking laugh about the lord of dust in survive literally refusing to die because "the nanomachines doesn't know the concept of death" holyshit on what drugs was the writer on ?
It's a meta thing. You, the player, are Big Boss/Snake. And you always have been, since the MSX games. And rightfully his accomplishments are more yours than anything.
Metal Gear has always been about meta narrative and the relationship between game and player.
He can't be that good if rookie Solid iced him though he at least had to be taken down with actual weapons, Big Boss went down like a bitch against a makeshift flamethrower.
hes actually nice and friendly though
get knocked out
There's a difference between relating to vidya characters and putting up with a game literally lecturing you for being "immoral" because you played it
Olga, definitely.
They could easily asspull him back into action.
Nanomachines can be used to de-age him
They can just insert his brains into a cyborg body.
>the 3babs have come out to shit themselves again
My ideas aren't fully formed but since he serves a nearly identical role, taking him down the same path as Nero from the DMC series would be viable I guess? But we've already had Rising focus on Raiden's anger issues, so it would be a cop-out to have Rising 2 follow up on that and have him actually sort them out like Nero did or anything
He's just too chadly for their continued existence
What did he mean by this
It's almost like pottery, just like what happened with Big Boss and Venom
What's with all the recent MG interest? Is it cause of Death Stranding reminding people of Kojima's past or has something else happened that I missed?
