I hope you don't keep old things like CRTs and previous gen consoles laying around like a manchild, Yea Forums.
We have emulators for that sort of thing.

>this ugly ass snes
Of course I keep a CRT TV. It's got a VHS player built into it so how else am I going to play my tapes without it, hmmm?
Looks nicer than the round European one.
HOT TAKE: Archiving Is for losers. It’s why most people trade in or throw out old consoles
How about you put your tapes in the garbage where it belongs now that we've got netflix, you fucking luddite?
so which emulator/filter can better provide the look and feel of a crt?
I do, I play the shit out of my Gamecube and PS2 still on it.
I used to do that. Then I grew up.
I like seeing the old commercial breaks from episodes of Night Court, OKAY?
I know it's an obvious troll but honestly some things released on VHS were never rereleased on DVD, Blueray or video on demand. It's true that vhs and vhs players decay badly but it something wasn't rereleased it's the only way to watch it.
Such as?
>citing Netflix, a.k.a. King of "This show is no longer available" as an alternative to owning literally any other format
Try having a real opinion, retard.
Emulators for 16 bit games look like ass.
>retroarch
Not even remotely true.
>if I disagree then it's a troll
That's not RetroArch.
Can you hook up CRTs to a computer? Fuck trying to hunt down half the games for these old systems
>playing 240p games at HD resolutions
It's a front end for it.
I use a PS TV and a Wii as a emulator machines.
Really I don't need anything else.
It works with every emulator at once. No need to use RetroArch if you don't like it.
Are you putting CRT filters on PC games??
This looks nice.
I hardly have time to get through 1% of my PC game backlog in a given month, but if I had more time, I would probably do this too.
I have a snes, a bunch of games and a crt but most of the time I still use emulators since it's way easier and you can use it anywhere...
I disagree becaue because I have logical arguments against it numbnut.
Such as go fuck yourself and use google if you want to know so badly.
Yes, easily if you can get your hands on standard plug and play screen. Even my previous LCD screen still used plug and play cable and my graphics card had plug and play socket. Seriously that technology is not as old as people make it appear. Even if your gpu doesn't have plug and play socket the adapters cost next to nothing.
It's the Sega Saturn version.
mfw anti-emulator retards arguments are always inane shit like:
>B-B-BUT EMULATORS ARENT ACCURATE!!!!
>LOOK THIS ONE SPRITE HAS A SINGLE FRAME OF ANIMATION WHERE 3 PIXELS OF HIS BODY TURN BRIGHT GREEN!!!!!!
>THERES A GLITCH WHERE IF YOU RUN INTO THE SAME WALL FOR 4 HOURS IN THE EMULATOR YOU CLIP THROUGH IT, BUT IT DOESNT HAPPEN IN THE ORIGINAL CART!!!
>IF YOU STOP AT THIS EXACT SPOT IN THIS LEVEL IN SUPER MARIO 64 IN THE EMULATOR VERSION AND WAIT 72 HOURS THIS PLATFORM RISES UP 10 INCHES MORE THAN IT SHOULD!! THIS DOESNT HAPPEN IN THE ORIGINAL CART
I will never understand why people like these front-ends, it's just bloat to put in your computer with no real reason
The i'll have to pirate modern things before they get old, right?
I would never..
I don't keep anything around except the essentials.
Everything just becomes clutter that needs constant upkeep and blocks rooms up.
based
>can't even come up with a single example
>gets assmad that someone questions his retarded assertion
And to think Nintendo wants all of these thousands of games to be lost forever, except for the Mario and Zelda ones that they re-sell each generation.
Emulators make the games playable and i can appreciate that, but its not the same. Even Nes games look better in an old CRT than with all that filters that emulators have.
I don't even emulate, but doesn't the fancy front-end shut down when you're actually running a game? I mean, it should. Also,
>no real reason
What does this even mean? The reason is just that it looks nice.
Adjust the scaling on your Switch.

it took me 5 seconds. If I cared to waste 5 minutes on you I bet I could complete a list of 500 movies.
I keep around a CRT for my PS2 and use an OSSC for just about everything else. Bob deinterlacing makes my eyes bleed
All of those are awful.
>use some shit 24in CRT when you can upscale the fuck out of your 8bit games on a 50+in television
you nostalgia fags are cancer and thank god you're all dying of heart disease by 40
Of course it minimizes. It launches the emulator running the game in fullscreen and when you quit the game the front-end comes back up.
>all those have to be awful because I was proven wrong
How about you emulate deez nutz!
How about bob deinterlacing on a CRT? Thinking of hooking my OSSC up to my VGA monitor.
If you have one of those why would you be an ass and not simply rip it and put it online?
>thank god you're all dying of heart disease by 40
Joke's on you, I work out and look like an ox.
battlestation thread?
>grew up and started shitposting on/v/
Your two dads must be proud.
Haven't tried that yet but it should probably be better because it doesn't do the sampling and holding that LCD TVs do. It would look closer to a regular SD CRT
Don't worry, friend. One day you'll become an adult and stop playing those shitty old consoles too.
There's also the issue where companies remove or edit stuff out, such as the changes made to the Star Wars movies, music removed from the Super Mario Show due to licensing, etc.
>look at me, I have money
ok user, we acknowledge you
Imagine playing handheld games on PC. Its pathetic. Get a handheld with your PC. Vita is an excellent choice
Why would you have 3 guitars?
>464484001
>Calling RGB monitors shit
Fuck off, zoomer
oh no, not 'Mr. Watson's 5 step guide to stacking boxes' or 'Famous choirs from Czechoslovakia'
whatever shall we do without them?
user, electric and acoustic guitars make different sounds.
Because people don't think everyday about what VHS tapes they keep at home and they don't investigate if it's nearly lost media. Actually I myself possess a rare cartoon film on VHS I had to orded from USA to my third world home country and pay some guy with 50mhz recorder to rip it on digital memory. Haven't uploaded it anywhere because I bet nobody cares or remembers this cartoon in the first place.
Yes, also this. The problem is even bigger because I realize burgers think murrica is the whole planet. If something was localized and released on VHS or just boradcasted on TV once and nobody is interested in rerelease or nobody even knows where the master copy is, you are lucky if you even can track down the original english release.
What size is that PVM? Been looking for one but I don't want those huge motherfuckers in case I have lug the bastard. It looks perfect in size in the picture.
That looks like a 14 inch one.
Input delay is a big deal for me. If you try to emulate something that requires precise timing you're not going to have as good as a time on a shitty LCD and emulator because the game has a bigger edge now.
You basically have to relearn all of the timings because if you do preform button inputs when you did on a CRT, you'd be off by enough for it to matter at least a handful of times, which eventually annoys me.
>inb4 good i like more challenge
That's like excusing bugs in games because they make it harder. There's no reason to intentionally handicap yourself if you don't have to.
I'll admit if you don't play old games a lot its probably not worth the investment, but if you do I don't see why you wouldn't look into it.
>risking your life for potential implosions just so you can play old games in shitty resolutions and blurry flickering lights because 'that's how it was meant to be played'
nostalgiafags are something else
>potential implosions
Galaga was kino
CRT's can randomly implode dumbass
>potential implosions
What? CRTs were very stable. The one in OP's image is a monitor specially made to be on 24hrs
I use the blue one the most and the brown is nylon. Completely different feel and sound, nylon more appropriate for fingerplucking classical music.
The black one was my main one, and it's relatively rare. Normally I wouldn't keep a guitar but it has lots of sentimental value.
>emulating CRT screens
it can't be done
I legitimately can't tell if you are so stupid to believe CRTs can explode. The way image is drawn inside the CRT creates literally zero pressure. In fact, the reason why tube screens are dying out is because the electron guns are going cold. Still I doubt any of you have any idea about CRTs other than them making the image blurry.
>wireless controller
>that Godzilla figure
I like you
Not him but there are a number of shows where the remaster is an objective downgrade. Buffy the Vampire Slayer is infamous for the 4:3-->16:9 auto framing, which cuts out entire people, or in at least one case directly shows the set crew, mic camera and all, in a very noticeable scene.
All streaming services like Netflix have used the "remaster". A similar complaint shows up with Star Wars and the special editions vs original, where the original cuts are only available nowadays in Chinese knockoff VHS-->DVD copies.
What is a good CRT for like 35€ to play SNES, Mega Drive and N64 on?
The one your neighbor or parents put on a garage sale
>And now I play movie games
i too can have an argument if i ignore completely ignore the most brought up issue. input lag.
There are tons of CRTs for free on ebay-kleinanzeigen but most are too huge and heavy.
I would like a smaller one and one with decent picture quality but I have no clue which are good and which are not
are you literally lying to yourself even if it kills you?
jesus christ, look it up and face the truth
en.wikipedia.org
lol fucking moron trying to be smart
I think nobody with a right mind would use a fucking broken screen.
>Yea Forums
>Knowing about retro games
This board is trash
I didnt said it never happened, but you must really be an unlucky bastard and kind of a moron to damage to the tube. I´ve had at least 6 CRTs all my life and none of them did that
Playing Castlevania on PS4 made me realize how awful the input lag is on modern stuff
>emulating
>N64
>Dreamcast
>PS2
Yes?
Of course I do. It’s my hobby.
N64 and Dreamcast work ok, but emulating PS2 is a shitfest
>physical copies
beautiful, I wish PC still got those
Fuck no.
I based Dreamcast off what I've heard others say about it, but N64 requires lots of messing around, can freeze, and has thousands of small bugs for each and every game. The fact that speed runners made their own emulator just to optimize a single N64 game says a lot.
Based retro station user. Do that kind of special CRTs look much better than domestic CRTs or they are a meme?
>tfw threw CRT tv away because it was PAL shit
I'll take poorly coded emulators over shitty 50HZ
They look better than cheap consumer grade TVs for sure, but more importantly they are built to last, for places like TV stations and medical facilities where they are expected to always be on.
What game?
Dragon Quest X maybe
>he doesnt have retro porn tapes
Yikes.
At least it's well taken care of and not one of the piss yellow ones from smoker homes
The yellow you see on these consoles are usually just a result of the kind of plastic they used on some of them, corroding over time due to air and/or sunlight.
I would unironically watch "choirs of Czechoslovakia", but I'm a weirdo who likes opera and shit
I'm not anti-emulator and you should emulate some games where physical copies are too expensive, but I feel that a big part of retro gaming is using the original hardware to get an authentic experience. That means playing Star Fox 64 on a real Nintendo 64 with the Rumble Pak on a CRT
Here’s an extreme example. The plastic used on some parts of the system was a different kind that hasn’t yellowed. Still, it can be solved with retrobrite.
You can also brighten it by just leaving it in the sun.
Good god
I have an old CRT TV because the picture is great. Crisp focus and vivid colors.
what is the model of that CRT?
>I hope you don't keep old things like CRTs and previous gen consoles laying around like a manchild, Yea Forums.
Joke's on you, my old consoles aren't hooked up yet. Just my modern computers.
keep telling yourself that.
What kind of fuckwit would keep electronics right next to a heating radiator?
Did any of you faggots ever beat zamn? I've gotten to the second stage of the final boss once but that's all.
Ps3 emulator free download
Sony trinitrons are generally considered to be by far the best CRTs. Especially the PVMs that were used as security monitors and also in television studios. The technology was licensed off to other TV producers as well so, not all TVs with the trinitron tech are actually sony.
What are those square flat screened crts from sony
Production Video Monitors or PVMs
>Sony trinitrons are generally considered to be by far the best CRTs. Especially the PVMs that were used as security monitors and also in television studios. The technology was licensed off to other TV producers as well so, not all TVs with the trinitron tech are actually sony.
I can think of a few NEC shadowmask sets that I’d want more than any Trinitron so nice generalizations there.
I said generally, fuckeroo.
Go play RE2 on an emulator
Nice TV, but
>Model 2 genesis
>3 guitars
>vertical monitor
>10keyless mech
>shelf full of camera lenses
Where you hiding the poppers?
Damn. Don't have my copy if Zombies Ate my Neighbors anymore for reasons. Seeing it with a CRT... brings back memories. I do emulate it onnmy laptop, but I don't think there's anything wrong with being a little nostalgic.
Million dollar idea, make an affordable reproduction of crt televisions.
>15 dollar idea
>filters are bad
xbrz is beautiful
Awesome.
The yellowing only happens on later production systems because of a fire retardant mixed into the paint. The retardant causes the plastic to yellow and become brittle. I've got an early snes with no yellowing.
Is there a CRT buying guide anywhere? What should I be looking for in a CRT?
What about early flatscreens from the early 2000's, wasn't there some obscure display tech some of them had that was arguably better then modern displays but it never caught on?
what's the name for this emulator?
I'd just get something standard definition with a curved screen and component inputs.
Yeah but a 15 dollar idea twice is like 100 dollars
I've got a big CRT in my room that I play games and watch old anime on.
have fun!
Thank you friend
Don't buy a flatscreen, they tend to have bad geometry. Don't get a HD CRT. Look for good inputs (s-video and component) if you're not in a SCART country.
There's a CRT general on
Anybody who still talks about input lag as the reason to play on a CRT is a certified hipster retard who doesn't know about dot triads, dynamic resolution or image depth
I wish old games didnt look like shit on new TVs. LOZ:OOT on my TV makes the text almost illegible.
How is the gamut on a CRT?
What kind of crt is on the right? I remember CRTs having vertical triplets like on the left.
>and watch old anime on
Recommendations?
I'm basic bitch. LoGH, Evangelion, Lain, Texhnolyze, old Pokemon if I'm feeling nostalgic, Lum, that kind of thing.
Baki the grappler
I've found with high enough quality inputs, how it visually looks normally is less of a factor. I'd say what's more important is the other factors like somewhat smoother looking motion, easy compatibility for consoles, interlacing being handled well, no input lag and old consoles looking good without having to buy an upscaling box.
how you do that? Is that dope boy magic?
>all those guitars
>no speakers in the room outside shitty pc speakers
>one shitty amp
kys
Better than LCDs in my opinion but I've been told I'm just biased or have been using shitty LCDs with washed out colors. But honestly I don't see how a digital approximation of an RGB signal set with a backlight can really compete to pure RGB electron beams illuminating physical phosphor receivers on your screen. That said, the vast majority of CRTs have some degree of light bleed and depending on their age or bad capacitors they may require you to up the contrast or brightness, both of which negatively effect stuff like black levels
That game has such a good sound track
I MA G I N E
la goblina
C U T E A N D F U N N Y
howd his amp shitty? you've only seen marshall stacks?
based
I've seen it more often on PC monitors and high resolution monitors.
>Lain, Texhnolyze
Haven't heard of these, care to give a quick rundown?
That art style makes me physically cringe.
Baki is one of the greatest shows ever
That doesn't make any less ugly and nauseating.
