OG. The remake isn't bad by any means, but they changed too much in the name of saving time and money. They also changed the bros. attacks to something with much less flow. You can't do infinites like in the OG game which causes some fights to drag on for longer than necessary. The final boss is also much less of a threat.

I understand where you're coming from. In my own opinion, old does indeed trump new the vast majority of the time.
But for christ's sake, the SS remake was actually really faithful. Some of the music was ruined, and some of the music was improved. For every abysmal Cackletta Soul remix, there was a Bowser's Castle remix which was actually even better than the original.

Remember how everyone here was losing their damn mind over how they changed the Koopeas and the Hammer Brothers? Remember how everyone here was worried they'd do that kinda shit to ALL the enemies? As it turns out, there were only two examples outside of those original 2: They changed Trunkle's arms a little, and they replaced the Mecha-Chomps with the Mecha-Koopas from Super Mario World. The second example is admittedly pretty egregious, but do not fucking dare act like a 3 changes to character sprites is equatable to an entire game being butchered.
Is the remake as good as the original? No, of course not. But Nintendo, for the first time since their conception, actually decided to buckle down and acknowledge the OG Mario RPGs. Everyone here, myself included, was fucking clamoring for that shit.
The point of this post isn't to call anyone a "le entitled gaymurr" or to suck Nintendo's cock. My point is that this was actually a step in the right direction, and it may pave the way for Nintendo to acknowledge their older games even more.

If I recall correctly, they even kept the Paper Mario block in the Hooniversity similar to the ones from OG Paper Mario rather than retconning it to the Sticker Star/Color Splash style.
