It really does feel like it needed more edge and suffering to keep the tone of the first episodes.

The base shielder class in the games they played was always considered a trash class, No offensive abilities and there are multiple abilities that straight up ignore defense or even use your def stat to power up their attack. The class had no real late game potential but was rather strong early game because high def can just negate most damage.

Once she is shipped off the king has some of his guards give the heroes a tape detailing the events. Princess is ultra raped and dismembered in such a way that even Shield (who absolutely hates her) is disgusted and compares to whole thing to a crazy guro film

After latest coup the queen is forced to act on the deal she made with Fauble. Fauble is the most powerful nation on the mainland and stops the other countries from invading and destroying Malomarc. The deal was that Maltly would marry their king. However the queen had side stepped this by forcing Maltly into a heroes party, since you aren't legally able to fuck around with a heroes party. Maltly gets packaged up and set to the Fauble King.

The fauble king is known as the pig king and has over 10,000 wives/women, most who don't live more then a week or two, with the unfortunate ones being kept alive for months. He spends almost all his time torturing women to death, the ones he likes he keeps healing for months. Naofumi requests a recording so they know for sure if Maltly dies or not, which Naofumi watches in horror. Fauble king thinks Naofumi is a kindred spirit and keeps sending recordings to him later. Fauble is also Maltly's uncle, so that is kinda hot.

The reason why they're shit without him is the same reason why they're without him in the first place. They don't listen to others who might know something. They don't have synergy. The entire novel is a very long, slow, and boring build up to the """punchline""" of them getting stomped on. Thank god the later novels that were local things wasn't as bad the lizards.

If it's a typical MMO Trinity, I ignore "aggro" and the whole trinity falls apart because the Trinity is a garbage concept that is only propped up by other contrived systems.

With a "Traditional" team (versatile Hero, typical Healer/Cleric, all-physical Warrior, explosive Mage, several specialist wild cards), I have my dungeon set up with a fuckton of traps, unavoidable damage zones and a gauntlet of minibosses before they face me. I put a bunch of obstacles in the way of dead ends just to make them waste their time and energy. I deplete their resources as much as possible and then if they make it to me, I make sure there isn't a save point right outside my boss room.

If it's a corridor type of Arena, it's fairly easy to set up an initial blockade of baddies for the tank and dps to aggro and than phalanx maneuver from behind on the healer forcing the tank and dps to double back to save the weak member and than crushing them full force at their front end

If it's like a big zone arena and I'm by myself, focus on tons of poison abilities and silence debuffs
at some point the healer will have to make a choice about who to save and than cascade onto the one that he isn't reviving which will eventually lead to the healer focusing so much on the dps staying alive that he'll neglect himself and die, which will than be easy pickings

I'd expect to lose, Nothing I do can ultimately circumvent grinding levels, OP items and equipment, or the Power of Friendship. Unless I'm one of those ultra BS hidden bosses or one with an annoying gimmick. So I gotta bank on the heroes running on some tropes. Whenever I meat them outside my boss area I try to make sure it's in a situation where they have to listen to some spiel I give about how little I like my job, how I miss my past of being a virtuous hero myself, how my wife and kid (who may or may not actually exist) are doing back home. Make sure I question any unnecessary destruction my boss suggest just on the off chance the Heroes are secretly listening somewhere.

Then there is like a 95% chance I redeem myself and promise to return to a life of virtue, followed by like a 33%-50% chance I have to sacrifice myself to help the party defeat the Final Boss or get access to some temple where the "Hero Sword" or whatever is hidden. Unless I'm dealing with some really edgy antiheroes or get some tragic comeuppance by having my boss betray me.

After the first wave, where shield protects the village, the fight scenes turn to garbage and interesting stuff stops happening. The visuals is why you'd want to watch the anime over reading it, and they go into lazy territory very fast. Things that should look cool are the most boring cgi shit ever.
