Axel getting axe'd would've made for a kino death scene, and it even looked like they were going that route before Roxas showed up as a Deus ex Machina.

Instead of Roxas showing up out of nowhere, we could've had something like Roxas' heart taking control of Sora's body after Axel dies; then we would've gotten to play as an overpowered Punished Roxas for the one boss fight before he gives Sora his body back.

KH3 sold really well, but I'm really curious to see how the DLC and later games do because the series seems to have lost a lot of good faith by putting down more plot threads than it resolved. You'd think that as the conclusion to an arc they would've left one or two threads for future games and wrapped up most of the plot in a manner similar to what KH2 did, but nope.

In DDD Xemnas gives Sora a speech about Tron and how when it comes to memories, souls, and bodies, sometimes the box's label doesn't match the context.

KH3's plot might feel empty or uneasy because I suspect a lot of the characters aren't entirely themselves.

Kairi I "forgive" in the sense that I think she's been pulling some sort of long con since KH1 and fighting the bad guy du jour with a keyblade is so far below her.

Aqua I suspect something iffy is with her. Perhaps the Aqua we saved was a Mirror Aqua who forgot she was a mirror Aqua.

Or perhaps 'saving' Aqua by beating the crap out of her with a weapon was the WRONG idea. Whatever. Once I realized the plot was not only stupid but intentionally stupid I did what those wankers in Spec Ops want me to do and stopped playing

Nah I wouldn't go as far as the dream theory that sort of twists the plot to say Riku is the messiah and Sora's one true love.

I will agree that Riku is the hero at certain moments in KH3, but the more pertinent question is "Why is this the case?"

And I do agree that KH sort of cheats by having the dream worlds be sorta real, and sorta not, and sorta this, and sorta that. I think the closest we get to even having a clue as to what goes on is when "Joshua" from DDD appears and we see the world how he sees it - he can view two possibilities at once, two "dreams" or "alternate universes" or whatever, whatever.

The problem is that you have a lot of jerks using "dream" as a short hand while "dream" can refer to aspirations, a literal zzzzz dream, a virtual reality, a world being dreamed up by a god, or for funsies, a virtual reality in a world being dreamed up by a god.

So the "short-hand" is there but I would be careful about carte blanche calling it a dream as we've come to know them.

user no offense, I may be missing something here, but I just don't get this. Kairi is not real, she is a fictional character. Her only existence is created through her writers. There is nothing to her that wasn't given to her by her writers. To put it plainly: all Kairi is is writing. So if you hate the writers for their bad writing, Kairi is in and of herself their bad writing.

user, you forget. Beyond her writing, Kairi is a concept. He can hate what nomura did in fucking up the relationship between Sora and Kairi and pretending that they actually are something else, but he can like the concept and unrealized potential of Kairi as what could have been a good romantic interest if it had proper writing, like Riku and Sora no homo friendship did.

I've actually never played KH3 and I don't remember if I ever played KH2. I got no opinion on Kairi. I will say that I generally err on disliking complaints about wasted potential, though it's not always unwarranted either.

Have her realise that whilst she wants to protect Sora and her friends she doesn't have the strength to do so yet. Similar to how Riku and Terra had that mindset. Then have her go off on her own journey to gain strength, grow and find her own unique path in life. She's still a Princess of Heart so there's something else you can develop on since that hasn't been touched upon since KH1 and a reference in KH3.

Wrong. Sora collected the rope, the logs, and the sail itself. So don't go around acting like Sora does nothing. Sora is not Kairi. It's one thing Riku did most of the labor involving the raft, but Sora contributed and then went off to find supplies like food and drink. Kairi did nothing because she's a woman who is entitled to men doing everything for her for free like the parasite that she is.

KH1 Sora saves Kairi and Riku by defeating Ansem.
KH2 Sora, Riku, and Kairi fight in the same battle. Riku and Sora help each other defeat Xemnas.
What should have happened in KH3: Sora and/or Riku are saved by Kairi in the final confrontation against Xehanort (Sora can deal the final FRIENDSHIP blow with Riku and Kairi, but def needed to be playable Kairi section IMO).
