Thoughts on atelier games?
Thoughts on atelier games?
Should have probably got it on PC to be honest. I would likely have played it more. I keep falling asleep while playing it on the Switch.
Why was last thread deleted? I swear mods in this shithole are getting more retarded each day.
>pol threads are fine
>threads about games aren't
Because of the faggots that preffer talking about muscles and getting fit instead of talking about Ryza's thighs or other cute atelier girls./
it's funny how the shitposting on the board just increases when the mods start rampaging
Most threads talking about games that feature cute girls gets deleted. This has been going on for a while now.
Wonder what kind of alternate outfit she'll get
Ryza will save them
Are there any jrpgs with similar atmosphere to atelier arland but more focus on combat over crafting?
Which arland's combat are we talking about here
>bikini
>yfw
none of them, I want atelier arland atmosphere and serious strategic jrpg combat
idk, trails of cold steel maybe?
Dragon Quest?
>trails of cold steel
>strategic
Haha...
I'll look into it, thanks
No, it doesn't have memorable locations or characters and the combat is worse than atelier
Too expensive on steam.
Looks like some faggot moeshit.
all their games they make are garbage low quality stuff. Theres a reason why people call it "niche" = crap unpopular games that only specific people with low standards have
They're alright but I didn't pay for them
Trash
Always considered them moe trash.
If you're into that, cool. Not for me though.
all the games are pretty good
make sure to ignore the arland-only autists though
They're my yearly pleasures. If you want slice of life, some item making, battling and exploring these are the games. Especially item making is pretty deep as you are an alchemist doing these items. Try one and see if you like the vibe they have
This artist draws a ton of Sophie and one Nelke Absolutely amazing.
Yea it's nice.
Yearly garbage, even Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed games are less stagnant.
>Yearly garbage, even Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed games are less stagnant.
cod is so out of ideas they're literally just rebooting their most popular game and ass creed got so bad and buggy even ubi had to stop shitting them out for a while
My thought is the same its been since the last 100 times you've made this thread
Koei Tecmo was the worst thing to happen to Gust and the sooner KT and all who work for it die the better
Is this guy an animator? I used to know an artist that drew almost exactly like this.
So is Ryza going to be the (presumably) straight one of her trilogy? Usually you don't see that much thicc stuff in /u/ things.
Or is she going to be the autistic one like rorona and firis.
Rorona is great, a solid 8/10
Totori was kind of boring because it didn't have any sense of exploratiom.
I haven't played Meruru yet (I'm afraid it'll be more like Totori than Rorona).
She's a chuuni, so the latter.
That looks painful.
was it confirmed that it's gonna be a trilogy?
Well they're almost always in trilogies so I'm assuming it's a trilogy.
Though they did bring up something about "being very different from the series" or some shit.
For some reason a lot of diaper hentai gets made related to atelier. You nerds know anything about that?
>Or is she going to be the autistic one like rorona and firis.
What did he mean by this
Rorona is canonically dumb as fuck and never cares about anything to do with romance and only cares about pie.
Firis doesn't really do much in her own game and then in LS she's shonen autism fight girl.
Totori has Mimi, Sophie has Plachta, and Meruru and LS are at least presumably straight.
I tried Rorona and it was absolutely cringy and unbearable.
I think there's a group called atelier something but I don't think it actually has anything to do with the series, I've never bothered to check any of them for obvious reasons.
playing Rorona or something, i like the craft, farming and time limit system but i hate moe garbage and the one cute but idiot protagonist cliche, with voices turned off i can just enjoy the gameplay at least, are all them like this?
Rorona is just really stupid. Totori isn't and Meruru is just too headstrong, for instance.
boards.fireden.net
It got derailed by off-topic shit, which is probably why it got deleted.
Meruru has Kaena. Rorona is the straight one
>Rorona is the straight one
Just because Sterk's been her orbiter for most of his life doesn't mean she's gonna fuck him.
I liked the arland games. Fuck sophie and for some reason I can't get into ayesha.
rorona is the only retard in the trilogy and the only other retard is from a kind of flawed game
Well I was trying to compromise. Meruru has Kaena and thats the important part.
I'm halfway through Lulua. They're sure taking their time reintroducing Rorona, she's still nowhere to be seen while Totori and Meruru have shown up by now.
Firis gets her sister or basically anyone she chooses to have her whole life with though. Everyone even proposes to her like marriage and the choices are with a man or women too. If that’s not the most blatant kind of relationship, I don’t know what else is.
Surprisingly a plot reason.
I mean a lot of the games have endings with each character, that doesn't really matter much when the true ending is "Adventure!" and then in LS she only cares about fighting and meat.
cringe game for pedophiles
is there any actual romance in the series or everyone is absolute pure forever and nothing really ever happens with them?
There isn't.
There's some romance in one of the dusk games and a lot of people want to get involved with the girls but there's almost zero "actual" romance, even with the ones who are more-or-less in a relationship.
the trilogies usually have some clear naming conventions but I don't see what would be the trilogy theme here, queen of the eternal darkness? secret hideout?
Which one of the Atelier games is the closest to Recettear?
Play Atelier Elkrone
Nelke or Rorona
Depending on what you mean
Lydie and Sue I guess, retarded father causing financial problems and his daughters try to solve it by running a succesful shop
lise
YOU'RE GIVING ME CONFLICTING ADVICE. Guess i'll play all of them.
Only ever tried playing Rorona and was bored nearly to death.
Should I try again with a different game?
Try Sophie, that's the other good entrypoint.
Rorona is a checklist game so play Sophie
no, if you don't like rorona you won't like atelier
We will both just never know. Probably for the best.
Rorona's pretty good but I've seen people who get needlessly stressed out by the time limit because they think they'll miss them when they're all super easy and get easier as the game goes on.
They got rid of time limits again so that's not really a factor anymore anyway.
he said it was boring, not stressful
After playing AI1-3 and MK1+2, then Rorona and Sophie, I can say that any games past the PS2 era are just incredibly boring slogs.
Well there's not much story in any of the games but at least in Sophie you have the shit with learning about Plachta.
Most of the narrative is gotten through the friend events and those are easily missable.
Starting Lulua today. Any tips I should know about?
>it doesn't have memorable locations or characters
I'm mad.
Play VII or VIII, which have those at the least by virtue of being more modern games.
I really enjoyed a few entries, but E&L killed all my enthusiasm for the series. All the newer enrtries look even worse than E&L, so I haven't played any of them.
Not to my knowledge but I haven't picked it up yet.
Im at a point where I need to kill 2 bosses for the optional requests and they're hard as fuck, I thought I had good weapons cause I was steamrolling all the mobs and im just getting my ass handed to me, it's the boss Roc and Black Demon.
If I take the time to make stronger equipment I won't have time to travel to the two places and if I don't I can't kill them.
You only have to do 8 of the optional requests for "max" reward and even then not all of those are necessary, and especially not every optional request.
I don't think I was able to beat them on my first playthrough either, they aren't really relevant.
Just started. No english I see. And does the MC's japanese sound strange to anyone else? Not sure what it is.
>No english I see.
They dropped dubs with LS because the dubs were shitty and vestigial at best.
I can deal with mediocre dubs if they aren't too offensive, but I will not tolerate shitty partial dubs where only like 1/10th of the game is voiced.
I haven't played VII, but VIII definitely lacks any interesting locations or characters. It's one of the most bland and forgettable games I've ever played.
the dubs cost more to make than the money they make with the western market
I played 7 on ps1, I doubt the newer version changed much in that regard
I'm aware of the reason why they're garbage I'm just saying my opinion.
Fucking hom isn't even voiced in rorona, that's how shit they were. There was no reason to keep pretending they were doing them.
I find it hard to believe someone could come out or VII not finding any of those places, stories, or characters interesting or memorable, but different strokes.
Don’t skip text
Game is pretty straightforward with tutorials so I can't think of much. Once you unlock the sidequest pages in the Ancient Text/Alchemyriddle, note that you'll be able to see the first group of sidequest of the entire game, including those of future chapters, and it's entirely possible to complete or at least get started on some of those early.
The Interrupt command in battle doesn't actually consume the item you set to it, it replenishes automatically at the end of the battle, although if you exhaust its uses during the battle, it will take a long time for Interrupt to recharge in that battle.
If you Stun an enemy and hit it again before its turn, it'll recover from the stun. This also applies to enemies hit by support skills from your back row characters, so plan around that if you want to keep an enemy stunned.
Is that a common problem here?
There's a message history you can bring up anyway, you can even listen to the voiced lines again.
Ok say it with me, it's pronounced "a" "tell" "yay"
I think I’m in love with Ryza bros
You mean ah-tell-ee-yeh
But it’s not
Pedo games by pedo artist.
You tried.
>bikini
>doesn't have the boots to strangle her thighs
>thighs look normal
Based
That’s not stinky feet.
She is supposed to be similiar to Lulua
please gust give her a swimsuit costume
Does lulua much on any carpets? I haven't played her game yet.
There are items that the side quests want you to use 10-30 times so if you spot one, just put that item on Luluas interrupt slot and spam it out any time you can in battle
Is Pinia or whatever new?
pinia?
Pinia Feathers?
You mean Luluas teacher? She was a child in Totori
Ah okay. I thought she kinda sounded familiar.
oh you mean her
she's from the ice village in totori and gets taught offscreen
I forgot she even existed to be honest, probably should have played the arland trilogy again before playing Lulua.
Have to say i do like it that she called Totori Totori-nee.
I played Totori in January and didn't recognize her until someone pointed it out
Totori is very forgettable and she was barely even in it, it's understandable.
I played totori when DX came out around january and i forgot she existed too
Suppose she is kinda forgettable but still i should probably have played it again since the last time i played totori was when it first came out in the PS3.
Does it matter where you start with this series? Any big gameplay differences from the older to newer titles? Looking for a new time killer.
Rorona is a good place to start
Awful taste
The only ""big"" difference is that some of them have time limits and some of them don't.
You should probably start with Sophie or Rorona, Rorona has a time limit but they're all easy as shit but that was coming from having played later games and knowing what I was doing, I've seen some people say they were hard.
You can start at any game if you want, though it's generally better to start at the beginning of a trilogy (like Sophie or Rorona) as while there's no overarching plot there's returning characters and such, and games within a trilogy are usually more closelely related than games in other trilogies.
Recently they had a 25th anniversary game that was a spinoff called Nelke so that has little to do with the main series but other than that pretty much any entry is fine to start with, though like I said most people start with Sophie or Rorona.
Start with one of the trilogy starters. Time limits are the big difference between them. Rorona has a fairly strict time limit for newcomers, Ayesha has a lenient one, and Sophie has no limit.
I want to put it in Totori.
she's taken
If I don't follow a guide for my normal game is it still possible to get all achievements in a single NG+ after while following a guide or will I need to make multiples NG+?
low budget, cute characters, nice stories but the recent games are shit, and even the """good""" games like the Arland ones aren't anything special
I like totori cunny
Her hole is not filled though
It's certainly possible but what really fucked me over was never having any of cory's pity requests showing up so even though I did literally everything else I had to start over again because her shit never showed up for me.
Had them in spades in my first run but they never showed up in my first ng+
>94% done with Lulua
Let's see who they randomly throw as the last boss if there even is one
>open the book in Lulua
>go to the first chapter
>press L1 10 times
I wonder why this was hidden
>Mimi now goes around Arland buying all Pure Truffles and burning them because of that one time in Meruru when she ate one and admitted she's gay for Totori
What is her fucking problem?
If you want all the achievements you'll have to follow a guide since you need certain party members in your team at different times for their quests. I highly recommend playing the games without a guide or worrying about any of that stuff. If you're an achievementfag who doesn't understand fun then this isn't the right series for you.
Oh wow, cute little secret there, thanks for sharing.
I played Totori Plus on the PSVita and it was really nice and comfy, I really enjoyed the time management and I honestly can't see myself liking the new games given they completely dropped it but managing it correctly just feels so satisfying. I started on Totori because Rorona is the first one but apparently they started the Plus series by remastering Totori and Meruru but when it came to Rorona they completely remade the fucking game and made it super fucking gold so they recommended me to go Totori > Meruru > Rorona. GUST is retarded. Anyway, pick it up, it's fun.
It took me a while to get into Lulua due to the lack of time limit, but now I think the expanded alchemy system, Alchemyriddle (a book of required and optional objectives) and all the Arland fanservice mostly make up for it.
That's why I said I was doing my first playthrough without a guide. You think it's better to just play one time blind and not see everything the game has to offer by going NG+?
Sorry I'm dumb and didn't read. I think you can do one NG+ playthrough but you'll have to save at different times and branch out for different endings and stuff.
>If you're an achievementfag who doesn't understand fun then this isn't the right series for you.
wow you sure missed the point of his post hard huh
as a massive trophywhore yes just do the first run blind
Jesus fuck, why are they so expensive?
Cute feet!
Hey don't worry about it, thanks for the help guys im going back in
$30 per game is cheap as fuck what the hell are you talking about
One of the best vidya series out there outside of Iris and MK.
Rorona it is, then.
If you continue the series, Totori is arguably the worst of the modern ones because of the lack of qol things in the remake that are present in other games, on top of the game itself just not being the best in the first place.
It's not unplayable or anything but it's a lot worse than rorona and most of the others too.
Pirate it
$1 is too much for a download license
Even piracy isn't a good deal, you are just getting it for what it is worth - $0
Die of a heart attack already Gabe
How did you find this
They're $30/game not on steam you autismo, who the hell plays atelier games on pc anyway.
Was pressing L1 for fun and noticed the bottom left corner of the page doing that animation. Then spammed it like an autist for fun
It's a rip-off for literal PS3 games from 10 years ago.
How long is Rorona? Will replaying it to 100% not take over 200 hours?
>these recent atelier threads
Feelsgoodman
I miss time limits bros. It’s bizarre to have a calendar system with a day and night cycle but have zero sense of urgency.
20 hours first playthrough, maybe another 10 hours of post-game stuff, plus 30 hours of boredom following a guide for 100%
>tfw always have a sense of urgency because don't know if there's some hidden thing you'll miss because you may have missed it already
Timers are spook.
Took me 40 hours on my first playthrough, never did NG+ or 100% it
I've heard that most of them are boring as shit but a few were more plot centered and these are the ones I would like to play. The problem is that I have no idea which ones are what I am searching for, there are tons of Atelier games.
This.
They all have a "plot", but what it's not like a grand quest or anything. If it was, the power levels would go out of control in the series. One alchemist of any of the main title can basically already solve every problem given time. Bring the dead back, destroy the entire world with a bomb. It's just a matter of morals that they don't. All the Ateliers are good girls, so they don't do that. If you're looking for a story though Sophie is a good one, it's about a mysterious book which is also what Lulua is about for some reason.
Moeshit games made for desperate weebs who have no standards and play anything with cute anime girls even if the game is complete shit
Just jack off to the fan art and you're good
>posting this like he plays the games
If you did, you would know there is no fan art.
There isn't usually any big plot but not having a time limit really shits on any sense of a plot since you can just randomly spend a year fucking around before going to save your friend or whatever
Ryza fixed that
When are the thighs coming?
Thanks for the info.
Atelier is not a series that revolves around fanservice. They're good games with lots of thought put in their creation.
Finally met mommy Rorona. She's shorter than Lulua and her voice is still as high-pitched as ever, it would be hard to see her as Lulua's mom if not for her more mature body, heh.
It's so weird that Rorona is the little bit shorter than Lulua, but Lulua herself is a real shorty too. Her long legs from her art made me think she would be tall, but she's not at all.
>I play simulations for the plot
Don't even bother
I love my mommy no matter what!
>Dragon Quest
Main problem i have with DQ is how every character all look exactly the fucking same
DBZ art is a fucking mistake
>he doesn't play the games for plot
Disgusting and a dangerous path to be going down.
She's not that short though, or rather many other characters are even shorter. She's slightly taller than Totori and just as tall as Mimi despite the ten-year age gap. Haven't checked to see who is taller between Lulua and Meruru yet.
how do i master the camera to see pantsu?
Just be yourself.
I hate this feel, but I also dont like not having to plan out expeditions to get max return and stuff, feels like cheating
The only real problems with Totori are the extremely simplistic combat mechanics and how much the "true" ending sucks. Given the focus on alchemy, the simplistic combat ends up not being an especially major flaw: having battles be decided almost entirely by preparation is fine when there's some depth to it. I think it's one of the best games in the series overall.
progression is bad, story is bad, as i said qol is a fucking mess, the only good thing it has going for it is its characters and even then most of the characters aren't that good
mimi, filly, and the chims are pretty much the only good ones
and the axe girl whose name i don't remember
>check out mysterious artbook
>there's an entire page dedicated to Firis and her different types of pantsu on her game model
>mfw what's the point when I can't even see them
There must be a way to do it or else they wouldn't have included it. I just haven't learned the secrets.
Melvia. Not the guy you replied to, but I really loved Totori, it would've been better with the UI and QoL stuff from Meruru and Rorona Plus, but I didn't have any big issues with it anyway.
>There must be a way to do it or else they wouldn't have included it. I just haven't learned the secrets.
sometimes they're just teases like that
It's piss-easy to see panties in Xenoblade 2, it's cheap fapbait compared to the dedication Atelier requires.
When will they bring the rest of the games to steam? The missing ones are actually the ones I want to play the most.
>Played Atelier Rorona Plus on PS3 before PC announced
>PC trilogy announced
Pretty sure there was save data bonuses, so my drive to play was killed at that point
I can actually selfinsert better with plot centered shit. SoL reminds me too much of real life.
Totori is one of my least favorites as well but it's still a good game. Honestly the difference in quality between the lesser and greater Ateliers isn't that huge.
At this rate. Never. They teased Ryza by herself and it destroyed twitter. They haven't even got to the other characters because they knew they didn't need to. So, Ryza will carry the franchise so hard that it won't be profitable for Dusk port to be picked up, never mind translated.
It's why Ateliers are all wife material. They only show their racy pantsu to the men they love
You could just download a clear data someone else did on PC
It's not that huge but it is there. Firis had a lot of issues too but it wasn't terrible.
It's (mostly) free money, do 5% work for 300% the profit
What about totori, she falls down and shows pantsu every 2 minutes
Great trilogy, but only Totori runs in native 4k.
Totori was a pervert until her wife mimi showed up.
That only happens if you're a meanie and make her trip on purpose.
I'd play the games, but I became a PC gamer after Arland and I don't want to buy a PS4 for only 10 games at most.
Its fine, because there's nothing erotic about those pantsu
fuck lesbians
Anyone playing the mobage?
Did this tavern really build on top of dirt and just not ever get floors?
Yeah, I also want to fuck lesbians
Yes, one in the laundry list of reasons why it was failing until Totori saved it.
I'm on it.
didn't it get shut down? or is it still going
from the little i saw of it it looked like what they made for nelke
Currently in maint. Will be over in 4 hours
well sex-changing potions are canon to the world, there's nothing stopping you
You know Japanese? AO looks pretty basic though, but has nice art.
oh i meant long-term
i guess it's nip only? i thought i heard something about it int he west but maybe that's what got shut down
>finish lulua
>find model viewer in extras
>can't peak at anyones panties no matter how hard I try
Should let me see them after finishing the game, damnit
>who the hell plays atelier games on pc anyway
Tens of thousands of people, actually.
fine by them i guess
Atelier Iris.
Gust never does, probably because they implement ways to see it doing something else that I have yet to figure out.
>Honestly the difference in quality between the lesser and greater Ateliers isn't that huge.
Given that I've gone from loving the series to completely ignoring every new entry, I don't really agree.
Atelier Salburg series translated when?
I watched the Let's Play videos for the lewds.... I don't like crafting gaymus though.
Good for you, user. Glad you're here with us.
How do I deal with the buyers remorse of buying Lulua full price
By playing the rest of the series and always joining these threads.
Resell Steam key and trading cards. That or just pirate all the GOG games.
Which of the Aterlier ports is the less shitty? If I'm not mistaken they're all barebone garbage.
Firis is actually one of my favorites. My favorite since Ayesha at least.
I felt no issues in Sophie.
>trading cards
Speaking of which, why doesnt Sophie has trading cards? I kind of assumed it was free money for weeb games, just take some existing art or get someone to make some chibis and call it a day
Sophie was a dumpster fire at launch, but its fine now
It's got some good stuff in it it also just have a lot of bad stuff.
They lose money if you refund, so no cards.
>Lulua
Been playing for a few hours now and I think it's alright. At least I'm not hating it.
Wait for emulation to catch up. AFAIK some PS3 games can be emulated perfectly, not sure about Atelier games.
Checked it. Emulation for PS3 ateliers is still buggy.
rpcs3.net
>Search barrel
>0 result
How do I blame for this?
Increase the prices by $20. I'll have no choice but to buy still.
>it also just have a lot of bad stuff.
That seems to be the popular opinion, although I disagree. Outside of the mass synthesis (pointless) and catalysts (poorly implemented, but better than Lydie & Suelle) I liked how it handled most things.
oh wait. there was more on the list.
rpcs3.net
PS3 versions of E&L, Shallie and Meruru are playable now.
Oops. I meant better IN Lydie & Suelle. They fixed them in that game.
>and catalysts (poorly implemented, but better than Lydie & Suelle)
excuse me? catalysts were poorly handled and might as well have not existed in Firis but they were a pretty great addition to LS and made the alchemy a lot better
bringing back the time limit wasn't an inherently bad thing but coupling that with the giant open world that you want to explore (but are punished for doing so) is retarded
and the biggest retardation of all was that you had to level up all the recipes before you could move traits around
ah ok, ignore the first line of my response then
I liked how the time limit was handled. They gave you plenty of time to explore and do side shit but not so much that you ignored the main quest completely. I felt like I had time to properly check out new areas while still pressing forward to get to the main city. I even was able to comfortably get the two extra letters. And then once you pass the test you can unlock the broom and fast travel and explore without time limits to mop up what you may have missed. It worked great.
>and fast travel and explore without time limits to mop up what you may have missed.
a lot of the quests lose their luster though if you just go and do a sweep of them at the end
i spent like a month in the first area just doing all the side quests until i remembered there was a time limit and just made a b line to the town
>finish Lulua
>watching the end credits
>animations done by one vietnamese
>ui had 5 japs and 5 viets
>some category I missed had like 20+ viets (half of them called nguyen)
No wonder it's so jank in places and runs like shit
>a lot of the quests lose their luster though if you just go and do a sweep of them at the end
It didn't bother me any but I guess I can see how doing them all at once could annoy some people. I enjoyed (most of) them though. I was disappointed in how easy the post-game bosses were. I had a harder time with Sophie and L&S, although I purposefully avoided the equipment quality bug in Sophie and broken back row Firis in L&S. The two goddesses or whatever in L&S that you had to fight a billion times gave me a lot of trouble. Especially the one living inside the Slayer album cover.
>Especially the one living inside the Slayer album cover.
I actually just sort-of cheesed them with some really strong bombs, I didn't even have particularly good equipment.
I'm sure they aren't too bad with people good at the alchemy system. I'm great with time limits but not so much with making effective equipment or items, and I'm too stubborn to use a guide. Those dame lolis kicked my ass a few times in the final stages.
I like buying the games I like full price.
Get over it.
I bought that fake mmo nep game at full price. I have no earthly idea why. It was a playable game I guess but $60 is WAY too much for it. I was shocked even 3 weeks later looking at the entry in my bank statement
>bombs are really good in Firis
>do 1k+ damage with endgame bombs
>use same bombs in LS
>even higher quality than Firis because high-quality mats are easier to get
>200-400 damage
Am I missing something?
whether or not quality actually affects the stats of items varies between sets of items and between games
like in sophie i think it affects weapon/armor stats but nothing else, but then in firis it affects bombs, and then i don't know if it affects anything in LS
That doesn't explain why (my) endgame bombs are doing jack damage. I can see why they might want more combat options than "three alchemists spam items until boss dead," but then they made 5/6 characters alchemists for this game. Even with the best gear I could craft, it was touch-and-go for me against the black paint boss, just slapping it for 3-400 damage at a time with T2 bombs, which were more effective just because I had the weakness-modifying items, and spamming revives.
