RE7 was surprisingly good, though I wish the Baker house was bigger, more like the size of the RCPD in RE2make.

I really liked the progression: Baker House - Old House - Lucas’ test chambers - Ship - Mining Facility, plus the extended mine lab segments in Not a Hero DLC and the extended swamp exploration in End of Zoe DLC really made the experience feel tight.

It got me excited for RE8, though I doubt they’ll choose a better location than the bayou or better antagonists than the Bakers and the little girl.

Thoughts, Yea Forums?

Great game, too short, not enough monster types, Ethan sucks

It sucked, it wasn't scary (no I dont find shit looking monsters to be creepy), the characters suck, the story sucks, the villain is ass, and the game is garbage.

Stop shilling this stupid game and start thinking critically or devs will keep producing trash.

the monster variety was a shame

I didn't think the ship part to the end was all that bad. The whole story is revealed there and the combat starts to ramp up to where you are fighting 2-3x as much as you were before. But the problem is there are only like 4 different regular enemies in the game and they are all black goo monsters. Also the final boss was total bullshit, it might as well have been a QTE

wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, and wrong.

We should have had at least one full encounter with final boss Eveline before Chris giving us the weapon to neutralize it, the totally morphed Jack swamp fight felt more like a final boss

it was a good game, had the potential just sitting there to be better though. I almost didn't buy it because of 6, but I was happy that they started heading back towards the original game design.

I only wanted a few more rooms to explore with the special keys

It was pretty fucking necessary experiment after RE6. Capcom had no idea where to go so they actually tried bring it back to horror roots. Without RE7 we wouldn't have REmake2, which did a great job of blending what worked from 4 and 7.

It at least showed there’s an audience for a more subdued RE experience like the original

Lucas parts were unbearably stupid and cringe, but everything else is literally 10/10

t. layers of fear

it hurts

I really liked the lore to it. Eveline was just playing them all like a fucked up game of House, but it went deeper than that. Someone linked a good thread about it from 2017 a few days ago and I'm gonna repost it:

The Daughters DLC makes me feel ultra sad for the Bakers.

yeah, more keys would have been nice, more locations in the mansion (I would have rather they spent more time developing the main mansion than working on areas like the mine and boat), more enemy variety, more boss encounters. I know a lot of people complain about backtracking in games, but I like it when areas are inaccessible at first and you get new abilities/weapons/keys that let you go back and open the areas up some more. if there's something like that put in with level design then I enjoy the backtracking. it casts a fresh light on places you've been before.

What’s this about layers of fear? I heard the first one sucked, but I’ve heard good things about the second. Might check it out when I’ve got money to burn.

i honestly think that was them trying to appeal to the westerners seeing as how most monsters in modern hollywood movies are just goo monsters

at least we got this webm

Resident Evil has always appealed pretty hard to westerners. The difference is that RE7 was written by an actual westerner.

Layers of Fear fans are mad RE7 stole its thunder while being more than just walking and seeing crazy shit

Ethan, free my family -- please.

Good game. Definitely got me hype for 8. I'm hoping we get a new protag since Ethan was pretty operator by the end of 7.

I don’t have a problem with them being goo, but I’d like more mutations in the main game, like the ones we see in the dlcs.

I’d have loved to have the roaming normal enemies be zombie-like figures with red eyes, like the guy you find in the first VHS tape staring at a wall, though

wow, I didn’t know you could get killed at that point

Are you sure? I didn't think it even really had fans. I thought it was just an indie game that didn't really even try to be anything besides a spooky haunted house sim.

I can see them going with Jill in RE8, looking for The Connections members

Christ, never seen that death. Gruesome.

why didn’t Joe Baker visit the Bakers in the three years between Eveline’s arrival and End of Zoe DLC events?

RE7 has some very unique shit that rarely happens, like getting your leg cut by the Molded and reattaching it with first aid med

It was a mine too long. I thought the ship part was ok, though.

ZOEH.

Best villain coming through.
Weskerfags can get out

she’s not a villain though

Love this game...make me feels some nostálgic Joy that you wouldnt believe.I really Hope the next game expand the mold And the hallucination...make It in a town or Island totally taken over by the mold with a good variation of molded, also another B.O.W. Loli is always welcome.
