After beating up Sword Bearer for the past few days I can say that the game feels fairly fun. I'm still on the fence with it being kinda buggy, having janky FPS, and having a general lack of polish. But they do a few interesting things and the story+setting seems neat enough for a "souls-like" that if they kink out the above issues a bit before release I'll probably be on board.

I parry something and then can't do anything besides move indefinitely until I load in and out , happens a bunch to my friends too. The parry also kinda fucks the camera and tends to do strange graphical glitches sometimes. Probably a side effect of all the different body gear having their own really elaborate parry/backstab animations.

It gets fun once you start using a shitload of skills and using the stagger on bosses to do some big dick damage atleast for Heavy Weapons, lighter weapons I went with buffs and dodging since the iframes are pretty generous you just have to dodge a little earlier and you can avoid anything with ease, I even managed to iframe that flame tornado thing, definetly feels like the easiest souls type game to use dodge in especially with that sliding dodge skill. Still jank as fuck though.

Okay the only thing I hate about the character creator is the sliders and such for moving around accessories. If you want something symmetrical well it's near impossible. Wish they would adopt senran kagura's numbers for XYZ positions for items. Would make fiddling with accessories a hell of a lot easier. Also we really need an option to make blood veils invisible. Really hated spending 1 hour making the perfect magical girl only to have it ruined by having this grey and boorish armor forced upon me and covering 90% of my customization. Also the mask is annoying too. What's the damn point of putting on any face paint if it's just gonna be covered by a stupid gas mask? It infuriates me that they have such a good character creator that is held back from being perfect by just a few tiny things

It's twice the price of The Surge with half the polish. The game runs like shit with slow unresponsive enemies, broken hitboxes, and ugly level design.

Worked just fine for me. It's co-op rather than PvP so it's alot less noticeable if something does lag behind.

Is the surge 2 confirmed? All the issues LOTF had, I still enjoyed it, and it's challenge mode stuff for bosses was incredibly enjoyable to try doing until you got past like the graveyard boss, cause then everything was a joke if you got his challenge weapon.

And nioh 2 felt like nioh1.5, more like an expansion than a real sequel, so I'll probably be passing on it, though I did really enjoy the soul core stuff (hopefully you can reroll them, cause I don't see myself grinding out hundreds of souls to get kodama sensor or some shit). Code vein is probably my favorite of the new wave of this shit, but I don't think I'll buy it either, unless some serious work is put into the netcode.

I enjoyed my time with the beta. Graphics are rough for enemies and environments and movement feels kind of loose but it's solid overall. Whether I buy it or not will most likely come down to length.

The path to boss 1 (the two fatties) is the best I've found. Kill the two regular lost and the shotgunner, then kill the dogs, the halberdier and bayonetter, the large squid thing, the swordnboard sunsetter, the 5 or 6 lost around the swordnboard sunsetter, then the bosses, should net like 15-20k.

Demo was decent. Cleared all bosses offline and tried out all the spells and weapons. I prefer using Queenslayer Blade and Sunset Halberd, buffing with Blade Dance, Adrenaline, Venom Mark, and Hasten. Magic gifts felt clunkier for boss fights, but were ok for nuking some enemies.

Yes. got up to 20 marks before I got bored because really the bosses get way too easy and the level scaling it does just makes it harder because you die in less hits, while not changing your damage much at all.

It runs like shit though, nearly unplayable in a large majority of cases. I don't think it was my internet, I don't usually have that bad of connections in shit like dark souls or even the nioh 2 alpha seemed to be alright, but this one was just fucking awful.

Yeah people get way too greedy. i'm glad you can get marks by summoning people though it made it super easy to get the 100 just by clearing out the mobs, then summoning people and annihilating the bosses.

In the demo they give you one skill (that boosts the power of magic) and some stuff like titles/icons that show up when you play with other people. I imagine in the full game it'll probably give you materials and shit too.

I finally got around to playing it today, turned it off after thirty minutes because it was really fucking bad and clearly not made for me.
Animation is terrible across the board. There's seemingly no inbetween animation at all when switching directions, wind-up when attacking is horribly lacking, when your weapon actually hits there's little impact, cutscenes have that D-tier JRPG feeling with lots of canned animations, it just all feels really unpolished despite the game having been repeatedly delayed. I actually burst out laughing when Io's tits were flapping around in the wind during the opening cutscene and when my anime twink boy swung a big slab of concrete like it was a foam sword. It also runs like ass on base PS4, rolling through boxes makes launch BB look silky smooth.
The story doesn't seem very interesting, at least from the little I played. At least the game was kind enough to point out each character's stereotypical personality in the subtitles. Speaking of which, the subtitles are also kind of bad. The font in cutscenes is already small but during gameplay it's so fucking tiny and awkwardly placed on the screen that it's impossible for my shit eyesight to read at a glance, something you need if you're going to play a weeb game in Japanese.
Maybe some of the gameplay mechanics like the whole class system thing are good once you put some time into it but this is a hard pass for me. Honestly even Dark Souls 2 feels more polished in its basic movement and combat, this feels like the Japanese equivalent of The Surge.
I tried to avoid using the words jank and float here because apparently we're doing the "those are just buzzwords" thing.

locking on to an enemy having an effect on the direction of your dodges is absolutely 100% unacceptable. I've died at least 4 times because the dodge just straight up didn't go the direction I wanted because I was locked on to blade bearer, and my character rolled right into her and got raped instead.

It plays and controls like a piece of shit, has terrible framerate issues, walking sections, boring enemies and bosses, animations taken straight from the 7th console gen, hit detection doesn't fucking exist and in general feels EXTREMELY janky and unpolished despite being delayed for a year but it has big anime milkers so it's a 10/10 I guess

I played with about 15 or so different people and it was always laggy as fuck, particularly when you are the person helping. Dodging gets insanely janky; my character would often roll in the opposite direction I input, creating comedic scenarios where I would be trying to get away from an enemy, but instead constantly roll back and forth into them. I-frames also become very inconsistent, and I would frequently take damage in the beginning or middle of my dodge animation.

Fucking this, the start of the roll is fine but then suddenly you change direction mid-roll and suddenly roll towards the fucking enemy and not away from it

yeah, being a host is fine but 99% of the time you're a summon you're extremely laggy

If they had a survey or some shit for this, I would. I kind off actually want them to delay it again but it might not be necessary considering they never gave us a release date, so it might just release in December, which seems like enough time.

In what way? You seem to be able to summon everywhere, you can even summon in the tutorial area of the demo, but the home base can't have people in there besides you.

If I could force them to delay another year and guarantee that the gameplay would be vastly improved, i'd do it in a heartbeat. However I don't think bamco will give the devs anymore time outside of 2019 to work on the game.

was never a fan of the God Eater-like huge weapon idea either, but you can easily make your character look like some edgy WW1 soldier, which is kinda cool and unique
also the enemy designs are pretty cool too, and bossfight musics are epic

still the main appeal I think is that the gameplay is designed around having an AI partner. It's surprisingly well balanced, and it's interesting to have someone you can look after, rewive/heal/buff etc. This AI partner doesn't break the game like it does in other soulslikes (though also having another player still breaks it).

The abilities also already make the combat a lot more interesting than The Surge, my only complaint is that you can only equip 8 at the same time, which feels limiting compared to gameplay's real potential.

soloed all the bosses. Choked pretty hard on queen's knight, and I almost got a perfect run on blade bearer but I ate some icicles from the 180 degree attack, and then I got nervous and fucked up at the very end and ate a blast.

Died once on the knight trying to get a clear, died three times on blade bearer. Pretty fun, I hope they give you an optional hard mode where you don't get partners and maybe it has higher rates of haze accrual or better item drop rate or something, the partners tend to fuck things up more than they help.

She's currently in a a vegetable state longing for a Ragna that no longer exists while Noel and Lambda take care of her.

Noel being Mu-12 was like three games back my dude. If the last one you played was Continuum Shift (game 2), Nu's soul was in Lambda during that game. When Lambda died, Nu's soul was freed again and went on to reform her original body.

In Chronophantasma (game 3) that Hazama and co have Nu work for them again and use her as the summoning device to bring Amaterasu (the god that controls how the world plays out, that Saya is inside of) closer to their side of the boundary so they could access it.

In Central Fiction (game 4) she just kind of roams around looking for Ragna while the world slowly collapses on itself. Eventually Ragna saves everyone by deleting himself and Saya from existence, long story on why but I can explain if you want. The epilogue shows a new world post-reset where mostly everyone is living happily. Nu specifically however is shown to be basically comatose in a bed at a home that Noel and Lambda (who are now nuns) are living together in having a nice happy time.

CF was the last mainline game for now, new main game will happen sometime in the next few years and will be a "new arc" with the first four games having been a "Ragna arc".

I'm a big Nu fan and got very emotionally invested in her so god damn that ending hurt me some. It really fucking did. God damn.

Assault veil +6. My light/dark gift stats are like 480+ each, I think dark is nearly 600. I also have the passive for increased dark gift damage in focus which is why you see me dodging a lot and not focusing too much on getting hits in with my sword.

They do significantly, because they're the basis for your scaling in all aspects. I went from getting +1/+2 light/dark gift stat every level to +2/+3-4 when I went from +3 to +6 on my veil.

The two hearts transfers HP to your partner, the other gifts have various effects. I think you start on fighter with an attack buff.

They use "ichor" the number next to the HUD element with all the gifts displayed on it. You get more ichor by getting off backstabs, parries, or using your drain attack manually (Hold down X), up to a cap based on your bloodveil (armor, which also changes the drain attack you do). Other classes have proper magic spells, but gifts are everything from buffs to weapon skills to magic and maybe even more, we only got a pretty small amount of shit to test in this demo.

Okay, that makes sense then. What about the other options? I haven't tried them yet - do they cut out HP aswell?

Oh and ichor resets to it's normal cap (and refills to it's normal cap if you're under it) when you rest at a not-bonfire, so don't spend too long grinding out max ichor or anything cause it'll disappear.

Bar above your stamina, to the right, that is kind of like an ant-stun lock mechanic. You get hit enough times, or dodge at the right times, you'll go into a hyperarmor mode. I imagine there's also some kind of damage increase as well for the dodge aspect. It's basically a super mode depending on how well you do in a fight. Just straight up smashing someone won't build it though, since it's largely defensive.

I've been attacking her long range with the bayo/fireballs and then using blade dance/getting in close to slash her jiggly ass when I can. Currently using Louie's code. My problem is that I just don't feel like I'm doing damage, like I'm not using weapons and spells that synergize with each other.
