Can pic related even happen without significantly altering 3?

1 and 2 are fine since they used a traditional controller and were built accordingly, but Corruption was heavily built around the the IR pointer. Removing the random gestures is one thing but Can the detached Joy-cons simulate the experience? This seems like it could be a real roadblock to the port happening.

The puzzles that involve twisting should be pretty easy to fix, but the enemies designed around the Wiimotes aren't going to work as well if they're moving to a traditional control scheme.

They could made it play like a twinstick shooter and automate all the waggle. It has linear upgrades rather then swapping which will ease the transition.

Gyro aiming would be a decent substitute for IR aiming, not as precise but it's not like Prime 3 required an insane amount of precision.
Everything else already uses the gyroscope.

I only played Prime 3 recently. Was the game so different because of the Halo influence at the time or am I fucking stupid?

gyro.

So why the hell doesn't the joycon have a little pointer that could connect to a Wii/Wii U thing? For the sake of ports, at least.

It was far more combat heavy for one thing
Gyro is fundamentally pretty different from pointer It's fine as a an option in most games, but where games like Corruption that were entirely built around the latter it'll play just a little worse. Nintendo is really anal rereleasing what they deem an "inferior" control scheme. I have even more drastic concerns for Skyward Sword HD.

Gyro aiming is a hundred times worse than IR aiming unless they add the option to re-center the camera, and still could be very wonky. But it's possible nonetheless.

Now the real problem is adapting the controls for handheld mode.

>traditional controller
What makes you think gyro wont be prioritized?

in the case of 1 and 2's controls gyro just adds to them, in 3 it's a substitute that takes something away.

It doesn't need one, it has a gyroscope that can emulate a pointer if need be.

>People still think Prime Trilogy port is an actual thing that's happening
Let the hope die.

I maintain that in a game such as Prime 3 stick+gyro isn't significantly worse than IR, especially considering how IR aiming required you to aim slightly off-camera to awkwardly turn. Prime 3 never required you to do any sharpshooting.
>unless they add the option to re-center the camera
the lock-on button could work serviceably, and if not that the Switch has a bunch of buttons Wiimote+nunchuck didn't that could be used.

I don't think it'd work for MP3, since the pointer was detached from your centre point of focus/camera.

I really don't think it'd work except with the Wiimote or a mouse. They could pack the game with a sensor bar and use the IR camera on the right joycon (hold it upside down) as effectively a tiny wiimote.

I really don't know what nintendo was thinking when they decided not to give the switch light gun capability.

Is there any reason this wouldn't work for any Wii port? A 'sensor bar' need be only two IR leds, total cost $1.

The Switch already has emulated pointer controls.

Gyro pointer is AIDS. It made me give up on playing Capt. Toad on the tv. It's nowhere even close to IR pointing for accuracy and responsiveness, and it loses its centre very quickly.

But look on the bottom of the right joycon. There's an IR camera like on the Wiimote. They've only used it for labo shit and some gimmicks like that, but it should be capable of IR aiming provided there's a sensor bar. But if they'd planned to do that they'd have built IR lights into the Switch itself (would have cost 5 cents to include originally, really a wonder they didn't).

Then where's my fucking dragon quest swords sequel Square.

You could use the right stick to control the direction you're facing, and the gyroscope to aim the cursor.
>(hold it upside down)
And become unable to use pretty much any button?

Yeah, throwing an IR on the top of the joycon as well and some censors in the Switch screen which could be used even while it's resting would have been a great idea. Both for ports and the rare actual new game which might want to use them.

Nobody is going to want to play a game while holding their controller upside-down. Especially not the one with the primary shooting button.

Prime Trilogy was perfect with wii controls and is also now perfect with mouse fps controls thanks to that dolphin mod. Specially since you can play it in 4K 60fps all day. The only thing that the switch an bring is handled, that's good if you like that I guess. For IR controls the switch wont have a problem with that seeing that you can use the gyro to do the same thing.
For anyone who wanna to try with mouse controls:

I suggest you toy around a bit with the controls since with those profiles everything didn't worked out perfectly out of the box.
Also those fags even if they do a good job are posting updates on discord if anyone want the link just ask.

It's not happening you idiots. Get over it already.

>Nintendo won't take the opportunity to make easy money

Oh, when I said gyro I was think of only the shitty puzzles like pushing a lever. They could just make the game control like any console fps. It would still be worse though.

Or just use the joystick for those puzzles, like they did for that shitty Tenchu game on the wii that got ported to PSP and never use the gyro for anything.

Completely changing the game is easy
