I don't think it's a big issue unless the overwhelming majority of normals have inaccurate visuals.

this is something i really hate about current fighting game animations, vega in sf5 has some really long ass animations for moves that are almost point blank, in xrd Johnny's sword moves(forgot the name) changes the animation whenever he hits or misses the target so it took me a while to know the distance of that fucking move.

funny how the game was playable at many events including high profile FGC tournaments but nobody had ever said a thing about input lag. But now that someone actually came up with the numbers everyone is gonna pretend it was always a problem they've noticed from the beginning

at this point it's not "hit box" problem, it's a major fucking bug.

you can't really say it's input lag for sure if the frame data is designed to have delays. Startup on jumps, attacks, etc. can all be excused for frame data. Only blocking is or should be instant, but then again people don't know what to block yet. Slow is the best you'll get until people know the game.
The problem with XIV as a XIIIfag is that the game came out with a slower game pace and higher jump heights. People then complained and then a patch like 3 weeks in lowered jump heights but they did not adjust normals to match. This led to a game where hop pressure was fucking terrible because your hop gets anti aired by someone mashing crouching jab because it has a sky high hitbox along with fucking everything else.
Add to this the fact that Maxmode was retardedly brainless and broken as a mechanic, much worse than HD mode could ever dream of being, where the game gave you meter like candy and the optimal way to play was just throw out your far normal, activate MAX regardless of whether it was hit or blocked. On hit you get to do at least 50% in a combo and potentially up to 90% and on block you are + and the other player is in a mixup.
Proper KoF gameplay is completely absent from KoFXIV because hop pressure and run pressure is terrible because of the mentioned problems with normals and max allowing any random hit to do massive damage and potentially kill your character, without the need to even do a 2 or 3 hit confirm first, because it is fucking whatever if you waste it on block, while in XIII wasting your HD on block was bad enough to potentially cost you the game as it builds a lot slower and was its own resource.

The new SamSho looks great to me but I really don't know if I can justify getting it for $60. The "Free season pass if you buy before the end of June" thing is really tempting but I'd almost rather wait until the game is cheaper and buy the characters that look fun, but I know that's not good for the game's life. I guess the game will die before next EVO since a new KOF will drop and replace it anyway, so I might as well wait a couple months.
I really want to play as Haohmaru and Darli though.
