What are some good games to download now that I finally CFW'd my 3DS? Already have Rhythm Heaven, MGS3D and DQVIII Orchestral mod but only an 8gb SD.

MGS3D, played 2 on muh Vita years ago so its been a long time coming. Compared to the bit of the PS2 and 360 versions I played, this would easily be the best version because of all the QoL additions if it weren't for the godawful framerate.

Ambassador launch model. The screen is permanently smudged from the super glossy finish and the rubber came off my circle pad, but I can't really justify buying a new model no matter how much I may want to since the console is already ded.

Despite its flaws I really love Kid Icarus Uprising. Has anyone made a mode to allow use of the CPP/c-stick for aiming? The game natively supports the peripheral so it shouldn't be too hard, it just only lets you use it for left-handed movement for some fucking reason.

Oh shit, that chomp looked awesome in 3D. I always liked the 3D in SMT games. SJR was a disappointment in that regard.

I also have an og launch model. Top screen has permanent marks because of the bottom screen bezel and the rubber of the circle pad came off. R and L buttons give problems that need me to blow them when needed. Still shit works so I am fine with it. I mostly play JRPs on it anyway.

Are Bravely Default and Bravely Second worth playing?
From what I've seen in trailers, the VA seems awful and the writing no better than your average cringecore anime, which is putting me off, but that may just be the trailers showing the worst.

I don't. The combat looks fine, the visuals are great, and the music sounds good, so I'm on the fence, but I've played my fair share of JRPGs with bad writing and VA that I now those are immediate turn-offs.

At this point you can get a refurbished N3DSXL from Nintendo's online store for like $130, which is the better deal if you prioritize build quality. The 2DSXL however does have much easier access to the SD slot, which is great when its hacked

Do you want gameplay or story? Both games are meh in every regard to the writing and story with some slightly interesting plot twists. But what really shines in those games is the gameplay and class synergy/composition. The actual Brave/Default gameplay is shit though.

to be fair it only fucks with my eyes after a couple solid hours of staring at the screen, but the main reason was 3D is a gimmick for children and I don't need/want it on my device.

I'm currently playing Etrian Odyssey Nexus (3 SHRINES DOWN BABY) and Shovel Knight (Specter Knight's campaign) to get hype for King Knight.
I picked up this when Sun/Moon came out and I still love it.
Favorite game is probably Etrian Odyssey Untold 2 or Ultra Sun.
I'll be getting Persona Q2 and that's a wrap.

Recognize what fucks you and mitigate it with fuckery of your own. You should definitely use Mimikyu AND something with a Focus Sash, and something with a Lum Berry (preferably the Mimikyu). I rolled with Naganadel, Xurkitree (with HP Ice) and Mimikyu for singles and it was pretty painless.

The right one is my beloved O3DS XL Animal Crossing themed. I have been playing a lot of Style Boutique 3 recently (over 70 hours this month), great game for gaming while watching videos.
The left one is my N3DS XL with dual IPS which I got this week. I am very happy that I found it in such a great condition. Still waiting for my flash card to arrive so I can hack it, and for the cover and display protection to arrive from amazon.
I am thinking of doing the PSP stick mod on it for comfier MH gameplay. The build in control is kinda awkward imo.

I'm playing it now and it definitely seems like it. I wasn't a fan of the "story" mode they opted for at first, but its actually just the same thing as past games with short dialogue between games. It is really easy so far though, and I'm halfway through the story and there have been no remixes yet. I'm pretty sure there are some AFTER, but I'm not sure whether or not it stays this easy all the way through.

My favourite game is no doubt Fantasy Life.

It's not bad. It does a few things that other FE games don't.

Tons. I want a bunch of dungeon crawlers and all the games I missed out on from never owning a DS back in the day.

God tier music, art and overall presentation, and Ninty actually did a great job localizing it for a change.
There are a lot of contentious gameplay changes that come from the original game, like how equipment works and the fact that there's actual dungeon crawling. Imo these are a really nice change of pace from other entries, even if some are hit or miss.
HOWEVER certain map designs and enemy layouts are honestly egregious. I got into the series with Awakening and had no problem there despite longtime fans complaining about similar issues there, but Echoes is awful. Desert maps that only let you move a single fucking tile per turn where enemies are 10 tiles away, swamp maps that do the same but also damage your units every turn, etc. These alone are a pain in the dick but then compounded with shit like single-tile wide chokepoints and cantors that endlessly spawn more enemies until you kill them just made it too much for me to bear.
I got about halfway through the second to last chapter before finally dropping it, which I'm still kinda conflicted about considering how much I loved everything else about the game. This track is one of the best I've heard in vidya in years, especially considering its from the original NES game:

tl;dr 11/10 remake for a 7/10 game.

You can always switch Mega-Garde in at round 49 if you have something else that fits your team dynamic better. Otherwise you're probably fine.

Because they figured most people would "upgrade" to a new model 3ds since they tend to wear down with regular use.

But really it's because modern nintendo loves to nickel and dime their customers since all those scalping autists showed up in 2010-2015.

It's not bad.
Some think it's better than awakening and fates because it doesn't have as bad of a story.

I should also note that I legitimately enjoyed the first 3 out of 5 chapters in the game. Most of those issues cropped up, but they weren't enough to completely throw me off until the 4th chapter. If the prospect of dropping it late game doesn't bother you, then I think it's still worth a try.
And who knows, maybe you'll be able to power through. I hear chapter 4 is the worst and then the ending is good.

n3DS has better SNES emulation and... Xenoblade? Also I think you can overclock the CPU in older 3DS titles to get better framerates.
Vita has indies, ports, and some good unique games like Tearaway, the Vanillaware titles, and Gravity Rush.
Both are decent choices but I'd go Vita unless you REALLY want the n3DS improved SNES emulation or to play a meh port of XB.

Games like Donkey Kong would run the same on both Old and New. Xenoblade does makes me interested, but people say it's not a good port. I may get the Vita due to its exclusives. Thanks for the info.

Nah that's the thing, I'm pretty sure with CFW there's a plugin you can get so that the CPU runs in the high frequency even in games that aren't officially supported. That should result in high framerates in games like MGS3D and DKCR.

Have you played the original? I played it on Wii not dolphin and the 3DS version still looks way worse.
Admittedly its still amazing they got the game running on 3DS, but there's no reason to play it there unless its your only option in which case totally go for it, its a fantastic game.

Good after the patch, in which they added a speed up function during enemy turns. No idea who thought it would be a good idea to omit that from the base game.

Yes you can. They have dlc in .cia formats. Just download from a reliable source. Just keep in mind that if you enter the eShop, the cia installed dlc will stop working, so you'll have to delete it and install it again.

I recently got twilight menu++ so that breathed a fuck ton of life into my 3ds. If only I was better at getting miniturbos on mario kart ds. Playing fe shadow dragon for the first time, renegade platinum, fossil fighters champions, and trying to find the appropriate patch for the last window because twilight menu++ has shit emulation.
Renegade platinum team is torterra, espeon, drifblim, porygon-z, rotom-heat, and tyranitar by the way. I'm in victory road.
If you really want to use Pory-Z, put it in the back instead of the lead. It appreciates hazards being up, so get yourself a heatran with rocks or something with webs like galvantula so you don't need to convert to outspeed immediately. Try converting to ghost too, with Shadow Ball, tbolt, ice beam, conversion.
Or just silk scarf double dance tri attack shadow ball. It hits like a brick.
If you get REALLY stuck use porygon2, aegislash, and sub dance roost return megamence.

You don't even need a flash card to hack anymore. just an SD card if your software is on the latest version: 3ds.hacks.guide/get-started

I did it on the 4GB SD card that came with my 3DS

use the fan-translation patch for FE revelations
a lot if it is fan-translated but it hasn't been updated in a while, so the "missing" stuff was left with original treehouse localization
fan translation is unironically better though

I have not but I have the 3DS cia. The Wii version obviously looks better due to stronger hardware compared to the 3DS but it's nice to have it portably. I'll give it a try after I'm done with a bunch of other games

There are some models for the N3DS XL which can have it more, like QEF101 or QEF102 or the Hyrule one with QW1131 but it never is 100%. Best methode is checking craiglist/other local sellers or ebay and then meeting the sellers irl and checking or let them take photos of the screens from the side with a black theme. Or maybe you can try your luck at gamestop.

Mine is a metallic black QEF103 and it has double IPS.

I didn't use PKSM, since at the time it wasn't as polished as it is today. I made it on PKhex. Just don't do anything stupid (like shiny legends or Flamethrower on a Greninja) and you won't get banned. I made my mons to look legal, because I got tired of being a breediecuck.

Really good. The GBA cia converter gives you several options to change stuff like stretching or brightness but the default options are pretty much flawless, and the screen only cuts a bit from the sides to match the GBA screen so you pretty much lose no size at all.

I don't think you'll ever need all of that space, but you might fill up most of it. depends if the step below the 128 is better for your pricerange

What are your thoughts on Final Fantasy Explorers, Fantasy Life, and Ever Oasis?
Now that I finally got CFW installed I'm realizing just how many games there are on this console that I'm interested in but not convinced enough to spend the money.

I haven't beaten either but generally speaking DS is good if you like SRPGs and SJ is good if you like straight dungeon crawlers.
I fucking loved everything about DS, it really pulled me in for a DS title but I thought it got really hard once the demons got COMPs. Maybe I just suck at SRPGs though.
SJ gets hard too, but the dificulty there is more in the dungeon crawling. Some of the late game areas are brutal.
But really they're different games. Aside from gameplay, DS is more akin to Persona while SJ is a more typical SMT, though even then SJ is really unique in its music and setting compared to every other game in the series.

Screensize isn't as relevant to mobile gaming as handfeel is. The last thing you want is to have handscramps every few minutes because the system is uncomfortable to hold since most handhels are designed for children, not for adult hands.

I’m enjoying it and portability helps a lot to make it accessible, though admittedly if it had a Switch port, I’d be playing it there since the textures and models are noticeably downgraded from the original release and I’d be able to play it on a TV from home.

What version of luma? Chances are you're running b9s so you're good to go, but newest 3ds firmwares need luma 9.1 or they crash on startup

The movement in particular bugged me, I hate having to double tap to move faster than a snail's pace.

Music and ambience is perfect, never had any problems with the movement though.

I don't understand what went wrong with HoD music. The compositions themselves are fine, but the samples are straight from the NES era. Doesn't make any sense after how good CotM was.
