Yakuza

What do y'all think of Ishin? I never see too much discussion about it. I thought the story was on par with 0. Really liked the brother and his motivations. No real retarded twists. Easily the best gameplay in the series.

Why is Kiwami 2 worse than 2?

>Kiwami in F tier

Shit man, I liked it.

>old good
>new bad

>New bad
>0 in S tier

>6 and kiwami 2 above 5
>kenzan above 4 and 5
>dead souls above anything
>hokuto at the end
Odd man you are

not faithful enough

Gotta agree wth Nostalgiafags are pretty rigid on EVERYTHING PAST 3 OR 4 IS ABSOLUTE TRASH including 0 and the Kiwamis.

>Just finished Kiwami 1

Is Kiryu's life just peak suffering? Feels pretty bad man

Well I think it's a travesty they changed the stabbing scene. It's one of the best scenes in the series and the song and added stabbing sound effect ruins it. They should have included the third area. It had its own side quests and it was a nice change of pace. I think the Dragon Engine's combat needs work. Mooks are too easy and bosses are way too passive and easy. I don't like some of the remixes. I prefer the art style of the original. I hate the same copy and paste club minigame even if Club Adam wasn't great they could have tried to improve it. 2 was a huge step up from 1 gameplay, pacing and story wise. Kiwami 2 is still really good and some of the additions are good but I do prefer the original in a lot of ways.

So there’s no real issue skipping 3 to play 4, right?

Because I’m doing that right now because I heard 1) it’s ass 2) it’s not on psn 3) if I was gonna play it I’d hold out for the HD port to hopefully come with the cut content put back

I enjoyed the shit out of the club minigame in 0. Is it on par with that at least?

How'd I do?

6 and K2 are worse than dead souls.

>They ruined the bosses. Their movesets are copy and pasted and just not fun to fight. Look at the first Shimano fight it's literally Mr. Shakedown moveset. It's so shit.

>Some of the new music is way worse

Maybe I was burnt out playing it so close to Zero. It came out like 5-6 months later?
DESU I'm probably being too hard on it and being a nostalgia fag but I still think Yakuza 1 overall is kind of a weak Yakuza game.

You haven't seen shit yet.

In terms of 5. I hate the detective twist and I built up thinking this gonna be the best Yakuza game so I was disappointed. Saejima's chapter is kinda bad, Shinada's combat is ass and way too much side content.

I like 6 a lot. It's definitely a tech demo but I think it's story is pretty strong besides the ship and I really like Hirose family. I don't know I really liked it.

Nah, I thought the physics and more open map made for a nice change of pace.

Anyone else this Fist of the North Star is legit bad? So disappointing.

>Kenzen
>not bottom tier

Was Jingu more annoying or less annoying in the original?

I think 4 and 5 shit the bed at the end in general so I wasn't really upset.
I liked everyone's parts better in 5 than in 4 (except for akiyamas), and the side stories they got were really enjoyable since the mini games themselves are fun, and the stories themselves expand upon minor characters in the main story which is better than the whole five bad guy setup they've been using since 0.
Extra cities are nice and the combat feels smoother to play with the game having the best incarnation of the DoD style (though shinada style has the same problem as tanimuras where they aren't fleshed out enough, but I still think they're fun)

I enjoyed 6 as well and thought the story was alright, but as a game it's especially lacking since it has far less content, combat variety, and less refined combat mechanics than past games.

Kenzan is 10/10 wth. It's kinda ugly now but it's story is great, the environments are good and its gameplay is pretty solid. It's a pretty bold sequel and I like it a lot. What's wrong with it?

Pretty much on par. It's baffling they didn't do anything to that fight.

>almost completed all the sidestories
>now it wants me to do baseball and golf
nope. not gonna bother with that shit.

the game is a tedious, frustrating ordeal with one of the worst combat systems I've ever endured in an action game. It's the only Yakuza game that I just haven't enjoyed at all, and I've played all of them.

Yeah I think I'm being too hard on 5. I still really enjoyed 4 on release. And 6 just has a pretty solid story to me. Kiwami 2 is still 2 so it's still pretty damn good. My expectations were huge for 5 so I was always going to be disappointed. The reception from the Japanese version was huge and it took what 3 years to release? I just remember hating the detective twist but there was some fantastic moments and Shinada as a character is great. And the "Another Life" stories were pretty good. I still remember how good the Saejima's hunting story was. Wholesome.

I played it right when KHHsubs translated it so not long after 4 IIRC. I can't imagine playing after that though. I really like it. I don't see what's wrong with the combat though.
