The anime is shit and only covers the first arc of the story. Well, very loosely covers it, a good chunk of the story is anime original.
The first arc of the main story is also boring though, but once you get past the monster of the week primals it's a wild ride that never stops. The story events are even better.

Well the problem is the ending Auguste episodes already deviate from the story up to that point, Gran isn't supposed to meet Yggdrasill or Rosetta until he leaves Auguste, yet she meets him there and he has to go meet with Yugu to be able to restore Lyria. Or the mere idea of Lyria getting a mental BSoD at Auguste when it doesn't happen until way later for plot reasons.

Also I thought it sucked they crammed all the cameos into the rampaging Leviathan bit, the episode with Mary and Karva was way more organic and didn't come off as CHECK OUT THESE COOL CHARACTERS. If they were going to go that far they should've just straight up had some of those guys join the cast during the regular story and give them some input during it.

GBV has a lot of similar issues to SFV really. It at least has some decent normals, projectiles seem real right now but once everyone gets the dodge down it will be pretty easy to bypass stuff. Also invincible reversals aren't metered which is great, but a lot of your defensive options do require quite a big risk. But slow walk speed, low pushback and limted options in neutral give me that SFV vibe. The matches against the strongest players I faced ended up having a similar tempo. You have those moments of back and fourth close range pressure where your options are so limited. You can't even go from a standing mormal to a low. It is hard to believe just how simple the combo game is, it makes SFV's look complex by comparison.

And I see it going a similar way of focused on simple but heavy corner pressure. I'd like to have some real get off me move like flawless block actually causing a lot of pushback, or maybe an alpha counter which actually works unlike a vreversal. Would also be another use for meter cause currently it is just a free super 25 seconds in

Wow you might actually have to think about your offence, how terrible. With better walk speed, and like a lot of people are suggesting dash this would be way less of an issue as you could actively deal with her zoning. The current game is walk at a snails pace in, or keep risking dodges that will get blown up.

Your race to the bottom style of game design makes everything so boring. I'd much rather give characters systems to counter act each other, rather than having very little go on.

SSR Death has 10% seraphic mod, so pretty good if you want to main Dark. Her call will be a lot better after June 4th rebalance.
Evokers however, requires a lot more grinding, especially so with sidewheel like Dark and Light. Even longtime players have troubles recruiting Nier and Geisenborger.

Gran's tatsu travels very far and is pretty safe on block. If it lands you get good pushback and corner carry. Also his 2A is his boot that you can link and cause a lot of pushback to someone off you and/or just create better distance

If you don't have it already, during next rotb run if you can do daily trains for the kirin&dong hl raid to get kirin summon drops. If you can't, you can always buy one. This way you are ready for whenever you get 4* cake to be able to blow up the multiple battles even in ex mode.

The EX is safe but you definitely want to save your EX if your at midscreen because you want the wall bounce confirm. But if you do A tatsu follow up at midscreen its fine on block and still lets you move forward. If you land the follow up its a great pushback

The summon is a stupid choice and the stone is more important even if you want to invest in a primal. You only can get 1 stone a gw so its only like 7 or so a year and you need so much more. You need them for good older summons, you need them for the newer summons that are good and then you need some for arcarum summons as well. GW also has gold bar trades that you will want to do and for people far into the game possible the blue rock as well.

Sun stones are easily the most valuable resource in the game as they are practically the rarest

I feel like his frames are good too, I was able to get away with stagger pressure as Gran more than anyone else, although Lancelot's 2L is good for that too. I've been playing GBF and love the music to death but you just can't have VS play the exact same songs, we already listen to those songs daily we don't need to hear them in the fighting game as well. Remixes are a good thing even if they're inferior to the originals

Of course, I do think she's an extremely strong character but I also think people don't understand her faults. One of her biggest issues is that her grounded normals have zero verticality, and 2C has a funky hitbox with a big hurtbox. She doesn't have any angles to call out long range jumps, like Nu's 6D and 2D, either, and 2C will often whiff against a close-range jumping opponent even if you read it.
A lot of Charlotta players are complaining about the matchup, but having played a lot of both characters I feel like it's in Charlotta's favor and it's up to the Ferry to adjust. Charlotta's jumping hurtbox is so minuscule and her j.A is so good that the Ferry player needs to really understand her air-to-air options to avoid getting backed into the corner for free, which is pretty much the end of the round immediately. Ferry can't jab demon flip in the corner like some characters can due to the aforementioned verticality issues, and 2C just whiffs even if you call it out.

A lot of her oki setups without super are fake, actually. Her most common one, 236C~4A>22C, has extreme stability issues in netplay due to the lack of buffer on specials, but even in an airtight setup Lancelot can teleport out (I have no idea how strict the reversal timing for teleport is, though) and Charlotta can DP. Ferry's f.A hardly does any damage and it's not even a reliable punish against it, and there's not enough time to roll after 22C even if you want to make a read on it. Remember that her summon goes away even on block, so if she's slow to get it out you can usually react and jab her.
It can also be a good option to just DP and take the punish instead of the setup, since it's far less damage even with a c. starter.

I personally think she's a far upper-left character: extremely strong, but has extreme faults. She feels very high risk, high reward in a lot of ways. I don't think she's nearly as oppressive as others in the genre.

I found the most common was setting up geegee first, cause then you do have to take stuff. Maybe they are ways out of her other stuff, but the options you describe all take a big risk that Ferry can capitalise on pretty well. That applies to a lot of stuff with Ferry, you can deal with her but it either takes very slow play that might not be rewarded or big risks. There is a nicer middle ground with the rest of the cast.

Yeah, from what I've seen (I have no ps4), it seem like Katalina might have been the strongest out of the characters in the beta. She just seemed to have all-around good buttons to play footsies with, so she could just dry out opponents hard. She also seemed to have a pretty good matchup against Ferry since her fireball and parry seemed to be pretty good against Ferry's pokes (it seemed like Ferry couldn't really stop Katalina from whiffing shit in her face).

Or possible it turns out that El Hermano Gran isn't just a braindead high latency hero and he's actually on par with the stronger iterations of Ken in his rushdown game.

Youre the one not making sense by just confirming as fact that these are too slow for fighting games because of what you percieve to be fighting game standard. It's at a fine place, slow-ER then battle 1 or boss battle but you're going to pretend like GBFV isn't a slower paced game already. You're also going to pretend every song in GBF is like battle 1 when it doesn't as you go further in the game and hear some of those longer tracks. The few versus tracks fits while respecting an RPG background and character nuance and variety to specific tracks is always a fucking thing in FGs.

Yeah, her 2C is still decent and has a confirmable CH combo, but it's also a big risk because if it whiffs even though you read their forward jump you can eat a combo. There's also Charlotta's j.A which actually just beats it. Her DP is only really good as an anti-air if the opponent is trying to do a deep jump in for some reason, the best use I found for it was reading people trying to jump out of the corner. Geegee is a good AA tool for range, but not only does it only hit a very specific arc, it's also on a soft cooldown until he disappears. It might not be long, but it does make a difference.

If she does something like knockdown>22B, that's completely fake and you can just jump out of it. Geegee has no tracking (22C runs to your location but stops), so there's never really a situation you should just sit still and block him unless it's corner oki. A lot of people are gushing about her setups, but her corner oki is where she really shines, but it's your own fault if you get put into the corner against her.

Wait like a month or so when the free rolls are being given out. There’s a lot of beginner traps though so when you are about to play, ask people again what to watch out for. I started in December from the fighter announcement and they do give you a ton of beginners shit to work with like m1 weapons for your grid. Also nobody told me this but you should save all your crystals and PREMIUM draw tickets you get. After you get to be able to do 300 rolls for a banner. a single ticket is worth 1 and thats a value of 300 crystals for 1 roll. You can spark from the current banner to get whatever character you want in it. So it’s usually best to save it for the limited time banners that are the Premium and Flash.

I tell you that specifically cause the game now throws a ton of crystals and if your farm the side events tickets for your rolls so it’s actually stupid easy for a new player to get a spark early on in comparison to later tries since you have less shit to pull from. So of course don’t waste your resources on one off rolls that’ll likely only end in a couple of r’s instead of ssrs

I don't fucking understand how to progress in this game. I just passed the chapter that unlocks arcarum and the battle to unlock arcarum kicked my fucking ass and I only survived by cheesing through the very end with DJannu's 5-turn unkillable status. Arcarum bosses have m2 element defense, you aren't gonna do much damage with dark except against The Star.

Your grid's missing 2 things, a Baha weapon and Seraphic weapon. You should finish WMTSB1 and get your free Baha weapon, and at least get the 1st level of Seraphic weapon for each element. You'll probably see a decent increase in power. Make sure you have an EX weapon of every element too.

Also if you're wondering where to find each arcanum boss, just look at the route selection screen on the arcanum page. Each boss show up only on the route their picture is on. Definitely read the wiki before taking any on the first time, some are straightforward, but others need very specific strategies to not get absolutely fucked over by.

It's entirely random which one you get. The only way to pick which one is by using a globe of the starways, which you can't even buy until you've beaten each normal route at least once.

New player here. Can someone explain F2P vs Whaling power levels at endgame?

I'm reading through the wiki and I see F2P weapons like Nibelung Horn which give Medium boost to attack at high HP and Big crit, and Nibelung Klinge which gives Big attack and Small HP/counter boost. I read that most people use 3 Horns and 2 Klinges which gives a skill pool grand total of:
>3 Medium boost to attack at high hp
>3 Big crit
>2 Big attack
>2 Small HP/Counter

Meanwhile in whale grids you have weapons like Ichigo Hitofuri which gives Massive boost to attack and Medium boost to attack at high HP. This means if you equip 5 weapons like the previous grid, you end up with a skill total of:
>5 Massive boost to atk
>5 Medium boost to atk at high HP

How is this balanced? I keep hearing "spark for weapons and save damascus bars" but it takes 90k crystals to even guarantee rolling one, and you can't use a whale weapon effectively even if you 4 star it unless you have a full grid of other whale weapons. This seems so shitty and blatantly P2W that I can't help but wonder what other P2W tactics are down the line at endgame.
