When I first started gaming my favourite genre was easily horror. I loved games like Silent Hill, Fatal Frame, Clock Tower and Resident Evil. However modern horror games just aren't doing it for me (RE2 Remake is good but that's just a one off). Western horror games like Outlast, Amnesia and Five Nights at Freddie's just don't hit the same buttons for me that the old Japanese horror games did. So I would probably say my favourite genre has become RPGs in recent years just because there are more good RPGs than good horror games at the moment.
BAKING SIMS
First-Person Shooter.
Kill yourself.
Stealth. Too bad I don't think anything worth a shit has come out since Styx.
RPGs with good replayability where I can eventually dump hundreds of hours to. Strategy games do it for me too, also ones where I can dump hundreds of hours into.
FPS

Bit of a toss up between RTS or management games, but more towards management. Stuff like TTD or Skylines I can just lose myself making my nice little transit systems/cities for hours on end and it's really pleasant.

I've wanted to vent into this genre but I read that Dynasty Warriors 9 is shit, which one would you recommend?
Strategy
Awoo awoo
HAOOO!
Unironically I like skinner box shit where I can work towards a massive goal by slowly progressing.
Games like WoW, Isaac, Gungeon, Rimworld. I know it's not really engaging much at any one time, but I like being able to settle in and focus on a clear goal while I relax.

Adventure RPGs with puzzle elements and lots of humorous dialogue options.
I just want to explore an interesting world and engage in comic mischief.
Immersive sims, I guess.
Crazy action and fighting.
FPBP
You guys, no, you're not supposed to actually give an answer. The Spartans were all in agreement of who they were the moment they joined up to fight in the army. They all just acknowledged that question with a collective chant...
...even though they never actually gave a legitimate answer.
2d platformers with action when well done, stealth is also really fun. Katana ZERO fit perfectly and now that there's the speedrun mode I can't stop
Not him but 9 is considered shit because they went for the open world meme and didn't do it well in most aspects. You can get 8 Xtreme Legends on steam and its a decent game to get into the series imo. Avoid Empires titles for your introductions to the series, they're spin offs sort of that turn the settings into a strategy game that has a very different tone and can turn people off if they don't know any better.
There's a bunch of PS2 and PSP games you can emulate pretty easily if you want to try things out without risking any cash. I'd recommend 4 or 5 for the PS2 games because those are what I grew up with and are generally agreed upon to be decent. 6 was kind of funky because it tried to overhaul a lot of systems and is an acquired taste, 7 is also on steam and it was more of a return to form but I really don't remember it very well because it blends together with 8 in my memory. The Samurai Warriors games are also good if you need a change of setting.

I would probably say strategy, but Action games like Ninja Gaiden and Devil May Cry give me immense joy. So Action.
JRPG master race.
That sounds like fun.
