why the hell was Xenoblade 2 just shoved into the Xeno series (and marketed as a sequel no less)? it plays and feels absolutely nothing like XBC1 did and it honestly would've worked better as a standalone game
same goes for X, the battle system was similar in a way but the whole plot felt like something out of Final Fantasy and don't even get me started on the mechs
I never finished either game (but do own them and have played a few hours) and they felt like something completely new with Xenoblade tacked onto the title. am absolutely not shitting on these games but I'm wondering why they were shoved into the Xeno series when the only things tying them together are small references
Should I use all the legendary cores I got from the Expansion Pass?
Julian Perez
xenoblade 1 is the one shoved in the xeno series, not 2
Jason Reed
Because Takahashi gets bored and likes switching things up. He's said before that all the 'Xeno' prefix doesn't necessarily mean anything more than just being something that shows up on games he makes. And Xenoblade 2 was marketed as a sequel (though they still made sure to mention that it was a different world with different characters) because it was a return to the Xenoblade 1's story heavy game design after Xenoblade X's open world focus.
Isaac Price
uninstall the game
Luis Sanders
that's fair enough, honestly I didn't know about that (though I did know about the game design part and the directly reoccurring spoiler character) but it just feels like nothing else in the series.
I think my point was I wish it was something similar to Final Fantasy: most games all share something in common despite being standalone in story aspects, characters etc. while Xeno2 not only feels completely different, but also has 2 entirely different directors and wouldve, IMO, been received much better as a separate title
Thomas Nguyen
t.brainlet You can easily like your waifubait shota self insert simulator without putting the first game down.
Easton Gray
user's actually not wrong. Xenoblade Chronicles was not developed as being a Xeno game. More relevantly, the game wasn't intended to carry the Xeno- moniker, but was later suggested by Satoru Iwata near late development to be renamed to Xenoblade.
Aiden Stewart
xenoblade 1 has none of the themes the previous games have aside from loose gnosticism, unlike 2
Jeremiah Campbell
Yes. It's not like there are going to be any more dlc Blades.
Cameron Wright
I just started the game, I’m on chapter 2, that’s why I am asking, I don’t know if it’s good to use the legendary cores that early in game
Ryder White
Because is not a sequel, is an "interquel".
Aiden Long
OP is a faggot, better talk about this: >youtu.be/w0yWCCJgjXo What was your reaction?
You're basically "promised" starter rare blades and "pity" blades. Use them now if you want to blow your load early. Save them for post game when you're trying bust open 99 of those fuckers at a time.
>I never finished either game I recommend you do. As for the shoving in part, XBCX and XBC2 could have been a stand alone or maybe even named like "Xenoblade Alter" or some shit like that with the "sword usage" being the thing that ties 3 different games together. To answer your question it's a simple: bait the oldheads in and they'll enjoy it because they get the references; assure the newfags they can enjoy it without previous experience.
Connor White
this
Matthew Gomez
>"If you try to ask a question about my favorite video game you are a faggot. Anyway guys check this ebin clip out:DDD" seething
>it plays and feels absolutely nothing like XBC1 did This is a stupid thing to say and you are probably an idiot for saying it.
Tyler Kelly
Xbc1 and Xbc2 are so interconnected that is not funny. Remember the ending of xbc1 where Alvis show shulk how klaus fucked the universe? Well turns out that fucked universe became xbc2 universe while xbc1 exist as an alternate universe that came to be when the former was destroyed. Both games plotlines happen at the same time, with an important Character at the end of xbc2 telling you to hurry up because shulk is about to kill the final boss of xbc1.
Thomas Rodriguez
Played 2 when it came out, but haven't gotten around to Torna yet. Is it as long as the main game?
Sebastian Hernandez
I'm not sure why it was marketed as a direct sequel, but it's way more enjoyable than XB1 ever was.
Colton Long
Main game took me 60-ish hours to beat. Torna took like 15.
Oliver Sullivan
Nope, it's about 15-20 hours for the main story. Maybe 30 if you do everything.
I mean, how else were they supposed to market it? >"An alternate universe saga based off of the original Xenoblade!" They skipped the technicalities and simply called it a sequel. It worked too.
Ayden Nelson
They all share weird religious tones and man's search for meaning
Gabriel Taylor
Where does the food she eats go?
Oliver Morris
Nope but it's awesome and worth a play
Joseph Morgan
Not going to lie. Those vouchers have me tempted. Got mine for $80 so I view it as getting one Nintendo game at regular price and another at $20. Wasn't a huge fan of xcx, but this has cuter waifus
Juan Bell
Explain this coupon meme?
Easton Baker
Don't waste them all on Rex, he gets enough good Blades from the story. Open a few on Nia until she gets an healer or two, then a few on Rex until he gets an attacker, then keep the rest to divy up between Nia and your future party members you get at the end of chapter 4 and midway through 5.
Juan Long
in the US, people who have nintendo switch online can pay $99 for two vouchers that can be redeemed for games - basically saving $20 if you get two full price games. in japan, it's 9,980 yen for the vouchers, and the game prices aren't as standardized, so if you use the vouchers on really expensive games like xenoblade 2 (8,618 yen) it's an amazing deal. because of this, japanese xenoblade twitter started shilling like mad and made a bunch of fanart to advertise the deal. now xb2's on the eshop best sellers list over there again.
Isaiah Howard
This. Xenoblade 1 had the Xeno name slapped on to it last minute and has practically nothing to do with Xeno. It took Xenoblade 2 retconning the ending and lore of 1 to drag the series back into proper Xeno territories, and bladebabbies have been REEEEEEing ever since because they're not real Xeno fans.
Liam Barnes
Well, it's not so much the memes as it being the best value pick from the coupons deal money-wise. Don't underestimate the average customer's tendency to buy shit they don't need or even know about just because "but I get the biggest savings from doing si!"
James Powell
The clip directly answers OP's question you absolute moron.
Brandon Perez
Why so autistic? Xenoblade 2 has more to do with XB1 than any FF has to do with each other. I don't see people bitching about FF, Dragon Quest, Persona, etc. There are plenty of RPG series like this.
Owen Lee
That clip magically answers OPs question asking why XBC2 is so drastically stylistically and fundamentally different from XBC1? Fucking brainlet.
Adam Hill
it worked because japanese games are more expensive, so this deal is actually better for them than us
Eli Rivera
the main difference is the art style and overall difference in tone even though settings and characters change in the different installments of the series you mentioned, they typically don't have as the same kind of shift in things like character design that we saw going from xenoblade 1 to 2. that's not necessarily a bad thing, though. I like how xenoblade switches things up, and i'm a little disappointed that takahashi seems to want to find a single artist to handle all of their games instead of continuing to bring in new people.
Jonathan Wood
Wait so “Chronicles” isn’t in the titles in Japan? Why do we get the faggy Chronicles? Xenoblade 2 sounds cooler
Brayden Cox
Localisation choice. "Chronicles" is commonly added to titles in the West to indicate an long, adventurous story.
Jonathan Long
Ask the european team who localized the first one 10 years ago why did they do it
Camden Butler
Marketing team at NoE probably had an unpaid intern produce a marketing study that revealed JRPGs sell better if they have two-words titles like Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Kingdom Hearts, etc.
Evan Long
Didn't we just have this thread? Get a life, please.
Noah Cook
>XC2fags support happy merchant tactics because it makes their game sell Sad
Hunter Campbell
That just seems unnecessary. Worst of all the western fanbase defaults to calling it by the localized name too. Whats next, Xenoblade Origins Chronicles Re:monado Unleashed Odyssey?
Gavin Parker
>wanting a franchise you like and want to see sequels for sell is happy merchant
So if Xenoblade became a mobile only gacha game that sold millions, you'd be happy, just because it sells?
Juan Evans
I missed XC1 when it came out because I thought it was a spin off and wanted to try the original Xenoblade when I had the time
Tyler Foster
>Worst of all the western fanbase defaults to calling it by the localized name too. this has been a thing since forever in pretty much all medium of entertainment
Christopher Davis
I bet you call Resident Evil "Biohazard" you fucking weeb.
Andrew Gonzalez
>Final fantasy share lots in common This used to be true but hasn't been the case since what, FF11? MMO's and real-time bullshit combat action games?
FF1-10 were all kindred titles, but you can't possible pretend Nu-FF is anything but tied together by anything other than 'LOOK MOOGLES, LOL MOM ITS A CACTUAR'; we have a literal road-trip press x to awesome action game (ff15), a real-time reactive parry simulator (ff13-3), pokemon (ff13-2), Dragon Age: Final Fantasy (ff12), and literal MMORPG's (ff11, ff14).
Just sayin.
Evan Bell
Similar thing happened to me, at first I nearly skipped it because I thought it was directly connected to the past Xeno games and I wasn't interested in them at the time.
Leo Jenkins
Chronicles is still an overused and unnecessary subtitle Biohazard does fit the series better, Im first exposed to RE so I cant help but think of the series as that name too
