why the hell was Xenoblade 2 just shoved into the Xeno series (and marketed as a sequel no less)? it plays and feels absolutely nothing like XBC1 did and it honestly would've worked better as a standalone game

same goes for X, the battle system was similar in a way but the whole plot felt like something out of Final Fantasy and don't even get me started on the mechs

I never finished either game (but do own them and have played a few hours) and they felt like something completely new with Xenoblade tacked onto the title. am absolutely not shitting on these games but I'm wondering why they were shoved into the Xeno series when the only things tying them together are small references

xenoblade 2 a shit

This is now a XC2 thread

Should I use all the legendary cores I got from the Expansion Pass?

xenoblade 1 is the one shoved in the xeno series, not 2

Because Takahashi gets bored and likes switching things up. He's said before that all the 'Xeno' prefix doesn't necessarily mean anything more than just being something that shows up on games he makes.
And Xenoblade 2 was marketed as a sequel (though they still made sure to mention that it was a different world with different characters) because it was a return to the Xenoblade 1's story heavy game design after Xenoblade X's open world focus.

uninstall the game

that's fair enough, honestly I didn't know about that (though I did know about the game design part and the directly reoccurring spoiler character) but it just feels like nothing else in the series.

I think my point was I wish it was something similar to Final Fantasy: most games all share something in common despite being standalone in story aspects, characters etc. while Xeno2 not only feels completely different, but also has 2 entirely different directors and wouldve, IMO, been received much better as a separate title

You can easily like your waifubait shota self insert simulator without putting the first game down.

user's actually not wrong. Xenoblade Chronicles was not developed as being a Xeno game. More relevantly, the game wasn't intended to carry the Xeno- moniker, but was later suggested by Satoru Iwata near late development to be renamed to Xenoblade.

xenoblade 1 has none of the themes the previous games have aside from loose gnosticism, unlike 2
