I used a guide for this

I feel no shame. The game is fun.

Had to go look for lore because it has close to no naration

Why even play then.

Tried to beat my chest and not use any guides. I caved in to know where the fuck the the double jump was, not knowing I needed the charge boost first in the crystal caves. The hole above in that area somehow did not exist in my vision.
For me, I got excited saying to myself "Wow, looks like I'm gonna have to explore there later on with more upgrades!" but this sentence played in my head so many times the exclamation mark became an elipses. I just reached the dreamer in the Teacher's Archives and caved in again. I did not know there was a buff that let you swim in acid. Thought there'd be another gimmick less simple than that to reach him. It's my first roguelike in eons. Fun genre, but are they all like this?

Bro, it's a metroidvania, and yes that's kinda the whole point is to explore. I feel like you missed out on like half the fun of actually figuring shit out, but at least the bosses are the other half.

Same, had to look up about what to do for true ending and a missed powerup.

Don't get me wrong, I did feel the brief dopamine back pat when I figured shit out on my own. I did have a couple of moments like OP though, because some sessions were just going back and forth around places and not finding shit. Stagbro helped a little bit with the the tedious backtracking.

>being shit at games so you have to look up a guide
Sounds about right
I hope you are happy with your tainted, hollow victory

So what do you gain stumbling 20h around vs simply looking up how to unlock other endings?
I like the boss fights and the hall where you simply get to fight them but i have zero interest wasting time trying to figure out where the boss is hiding to unlock it.

I admit my weakness and will live with the mark of the pleb

Literally why play this game then. You can play any other game that gives you instant action, why spoil the experience.

fuck wandering around though. what a waste of time.

you are only cheating yourself

Have you really never played a fallout.

good for you.
while i personally did not use one, i see no shame in using a guide for this game as the exploration is not particularly engaging.

Only thing I needed a guide for was how to get to the rightmost part of the map, where the drake is.

>It's my first roguelike in eons.
bait thread

you made a thread for it, you retard
it obviously bothers you to be so shit at games

Fallout:
>tons of things to pickup
>ppl to talk to
>random encounters

Hollow Knight
>same rooms filled with the same monsters in the same locations
>having to go through these rooms multiple times to find the stupid map NPC

Why would you even compare the two?

I wish I was. It's just a genre that stopped existing in my world for a very long time.

There's nothing wrong with using a guide if you've been stuck at one point for several hours (days)

Only retards who wasted even longer would say otherwise

You cheated not only the game, but yourself

There aren't that many games around. I played it normally to first ending then looked up what i was missing. It's straighforward up to the first ending and i've found some secrets myself like the bee hive, playing your first run blind is fun but i simply see no joy searching for the needle in the haystack.

I love this game.
Had around 45-50 hours game time when getting the good ending and 107% completion, started a steel soul mode right after that and got the 100% speedrun achievements at the same time without trying, dlc content makes it so easy to get %
Still haven't beat Pantheon of Hallownest, Markoth, Zote and NKG can go suck beetle dic

There's no reason to be ashamed. Hollow knight isn't like Dark Souls where you can become op in a matter of minutes if you know where to find good gear early.
