I used a guide for this

I feel no shame. The game is fun.

Had to go look for lore because it has close to no naration

Why even play then.

Tried to beat my chest and not use any guides. I caved in to know where the fuck the the double jump was, not knowing I needed the charge boost first in the crystal caves. The hole above in that area somehow did not exist in my vision.
For me, I got excited saying to myself "Wow, looks like I'm gonna have to explore there later on with more upgrades!" but this sentence played in my head so many times the exclamation mark became an elipses. I just reached the dreamer in the Teacher's Archives and caved in again. I did not know there was a buff that let you swim in acid. Thought there'd be another gimmick less simple than that to reach him. It's my first roguelike in eons. Fun genre, but are they all like this?

Bro, it's a metroidvania, and yes that's kinda the whole point is to explore. I feel like you missed out on like half the fun of actually figuring shit out, but at least the bosses are the other half.

Same, had to look up about what to do for true ending and a missed powerup.

Don't get me wrong, I did feel the brief dopamine back pat when I figured shit out on my own. I did have a couple of moments like OP though, because some sessions were just going back and forth around places and not finding shit. Stagbro helped a little bit with the the tedious backtracking.

>being shit at games so you have to look up a guide
Sounds about right
I hope you are happy with your tainted, hollow victory

So what do you gain stumbling 20h around vs simply looking up how to unlock other endings?
I like the boss fights and the hall where you simply get to fight them but i have zero interest wasting time trying to figure out where the boss is hiding to unlock it.

I admit my weakness and will live with the mark of the pleb
