Console sales aren't everything. Most of the PS3 sales were just people buying a slim near the end of the life cycle to play a couple exclusives. Most multiplats had the 360 version outsell the PS3 version 2 to 1. The 360 was much more relevant as part of the overall cultural zeitgeist.

Luckily most of the games worth while on PS4 are also on other systems. Their whole movie shtick really doesn’t appeal to me. They already neutered one gameplay predominant series in god of war so I don’t look forward to their next infamous.
That being said persona is still Sony exclusive so I’ll probably need to fork cash over for a ps5 eventually.

Every couple of generations Sony gets it into their head that they control the consumers, and consumers tell them to fuck off (see: PS3, PS5). The only reason they weren't called to task on their various shit policies during the early PS days (RPG & 2D hate, for starters) was due to having literally no competition (SEGA shot themselves in their dick and Nintendo was a No Show yet) and "THREEEEE DEEEEEEE!!!!" marketing.
