Crusader Kings 2 Thread

I've united the French, German and Italian empires as Charlemagne into the HRE. Then it turns out my daughter was leading a secret Slavic faith society, and that my grandson and heir was into it.
It was so absurd I just stayed in it to see what would happen. She made everyone go public, including my character, now the HRE is a pagan mess

What succession laws do you favor? I’m partial to having my youngest male inherit.

How long did it take for you to accomplish that? Just taking Alba was enough for a defensive pact to be formed against me.

Princely elective is amazing, you get +20 vassals, can pick your heir, and as there are around half a dozen electors, you only need to buy favors from 2 or 3 tops to get the sucession guaranteed

What even is the purpose of gavelkind?

Chaos.

It keeps your family happy. But it’s pretty awful.

Aggressivness caps at 50% max per war. As Charlemagne you don't have to fight many wars.
Getting the German Empire requires you to take Saxony, which you can do through the events, and Bavaria. Which you can take by pressing one of your cousin's claims to it.
You get a free strong claim on Lombardia, but to form the Italian Empire you need the kingdom of Sicily too. You can form it by taking over Beneveto, I requested a claim from the pope. I was one province short of forming it, took it from the Byzantines.
With the three empires on your hands, when you form the HRE it'll have all their lands as de jure, you can mop up the rest. Threat gets reset when you form it too.
So basically after you get Lombary there won't be many Christians left, and you only need to attack them (Bavaria, Beneveto, Pope and Byzantines). Just don't attack when your threat is higher than 75%, as then all the pagans and muslims will be pulled in too.

Significant demesne bonus. If you keep to one duchy, one kingdom and one empire, as you should, it only punishes harshly players mid-blobbing.
