>No analogue triggers
but it's just an inferior xbox one controller and the d-pad is so garbage i'd almost rather use joy-cons for 2d games
How do you play racing games with no analog triggers?
>STILL NEEDS AA BATTERIES
>BETTER THAN ANYTHING
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHSHA
it's literally an xbox controller that's less comfortable
The d-pad is unbelievably garbage
The Switch has no racing games. But the few games with driving I played had awkward acceleration controls, especially L.A. Noire.
>playing racing games with anything that isn't a wheel
if it had analogue triggers it would literally be the best controller ever made. it fell so short.
A button to go forward. B button to brake. Not that hard.
It doesn't though.
>Shit d-pad
lol i honestly forgot it even ran on batteries, but i'll admit it's a minor inconvenience that you need to buy the charger separately
I love it. So damn comfortable over long term. My only complains are that the start/select buttons are small and uncomfortable. The triggers not being analog doesn't matter, how many FPS games are on the Switch anyway?? Basically none.
This is ESSENTIAL for anyone with a Switch. The Joy cons just don't cut it for home use.
If you're worried about the price, its $52 at Walmart.
I'm sure it is, it's just that I don't see what the difference is between that and the joy con grip that comes with the console, hence I don't have a reason to buy one.
Except maybe for the d-pad...but a fucking d-pad isn't enough of an incentive for me to shell over cash for a pro controller.
Maybe not the best but certainly the most underrated. There's nothing better than playing CIV from the couch.
You're crazy nigger.
The face buttons are small as fuck, and the Pro controller is sweat resistant, and the extra heft feels wonderful. Try it and you'll see.
>The triggers not being analog doesn't matter, how many FPS games are on the Switch anyway??
You'd want binary for those anyway mate.
Bigger face buttons, more controller shaped rather than being flat like the Joy-Cons, actual analog sticks
how so? i think it's relatively alright. dpads aren't really utilised as much as main sticks and buttons etc these days anyway.
I miss the Sega dpad...
It's not accurate. The whole reason of using a d-pad is to be accurate. It's also the biggest reason to upgrade from the joycons in my opinion.
*for consoles
The dualshock4 is the best controller ever made, but because Sony is retarded it's not used correctly, so you have to use a PC. I mean the fucking stock browser doesn't use the touchpad. A BROWSER doesn't use a feature designed to control a mouse pointer.
Honestly the wii u pro controller is infinitely better and fuck analogue triggers and fuck you.
that's a bit of a vague statement, does it just not accept inputs?
That shit felt flimsy as fuck. Buttons were terrible as well. Wii classic pro was Nintendo's high point in controllers.
How is it vague? If you press a direction, it should only report that direction to the console. It doesn't always do that. It's inaccurate. There's a mismatch between what you press and what the controller reports to the console.
>pro controller drifts
>joycon lose connection if a butterfly flies in front of it and blocks a direct los to the switch
Why are the Nintendo controllers this gen so fucking shit?
ahh right, that makes more sense.
Isn't the dpad notoriously shit?
The games are also getting worse. Nintendo used to make good RPGs but they haven't made any good ones in a few years except for some really generic fire emblem games.
Sony also haven't made jack shit. I've been sticking to PC recently desu
no wonder, they copied from the best
After the tape fix yes.
Fucking insane how Nintendo will make amazing products yet has the most retarded issues fixed by equally retarded ways.
>Bro my d pad is over sensitive
Bro just put some tape over it.
>Bro my Joycon is drifting!
Bro just blow it out with canned air then recalibrate sticks
>your post is now invalid
now what?
>...is a good thing because they're a downgrade unless you're playing sims
For drifts
Canned air
Stop eating chips while playing Vidyas you fat fuck
Recalibrate sticks
It’s a bit annoying but the whole process take me about 5 minutes if that
The best controllers have analogue triggers with the option of shortening the pull anyway, giving them the best of both worlds. Having a long pull isn't that big of an issue anyway, you should always prefer more options.
What about if the joycon is really slow in registering up on the stick? Mine doesn't really drift, it just takes about a second to register up.
>you should always prefer more options
sure, but I absolutely don't mind only having digital because I don't play racing games or sims, and if I did I'd buy actual specialized hardware for them
Just realize that you're settling for a worse controller then.
Your d-pad sucks, you don't have analogue triggers, your face buttons are raised too high and you cost too much. Have a nice day.
nintendo is a hive of scumbags
microsoft has cursed us all
sony is worthless
death to nintendo
>eating chips
Literally incapable of doing so for over half the time I owned the controller. It also happens I couldn’t play the switch either so it wasn’t even overuse or anything.
>canned air
Doesn’t always work, didn’t work for me
>calibrate
It’s so fucked it can’t even recalibrate.
worse for not having a feature that'd get in my way? ok
I've had all kinds of controllers and never made use of the analog triggers on any of them
>no analog triggers
>weirdly shaped face buttons
Ill take the chad xbone controller
>a feature that'd get in my way?
Not if you'd have a better controller.
Uhhh sweety there are wired xbox one controllers.
The D-Pad is unreliable.
It's really comfy, probably my favorite controller I own.
Fucking expensive. Had to pay around one hundred leafs for mine.
>not just using an adapter so you can use an xbox controller
>that dpad
Playing Tetris 99 with that thing is a nightmare.
>he has an OG Pro Controller
Glad I got the fixed one, but the two people I know who have OGs but have never brought up that issue to me
Everything is great about this thing. The only thing I’d discount is
D-Pad 8/10
L and R Triggers 7/10 - theyre a bit mushy for some reason, and require more pressure than you’d expect
All pro controllers have inaccurate d-pads. Yours is just not as shit.
Just use the right analog stick for accelerating/braking
How do you look around then?
L/R
That's worse than analogue look though.
Not really, in fact it's much quicker because the camera snaps too that side immediately rather than slowly panning around.
In what way? You usually look full right or full left anyways.
And if you're somewhat serious about racing sims, you use a PC with a steering wheel anyways
>rather than slowly panning around.
That's not how camera control generally works in racing games. Pressing right on the stick immediately snaps the camera to there. It's not a pan.
Not really, you generally look slightly back. You can see to the right of you without camera input.
Get a wheel you fucking poorfag twat.
I'm so god damn sick of poor pieces of shit willingly ruining controllers for a single genre that isn't even all that popular that even has specially made controllers just for it.
There's not a single benefit to analog triggers over digital, and kill yourself.
Why the fuck do you need analog triggers on a system that doesn't even support it?
This, but less killing yourself. Analog triggers are so specific and not even necessary
feels weird to hold
There are racing games that play like shit with racing wheels though.
This is about it being the best controller, not the best controller for the Nintendo Switch.
It's good, but not with that shit + and - placement so close to Home and Screenshot
What the FUCK where they thinking? If at least they could reverse their placement, it wouldn't be so bad.
That's on the developers, not the console/controller manufacturers.
An issue that was only created because wheels aren't the standard an expected controllers for racing games pretty asinine when you could be complaining about the root instead of the symptom.
They don't play bad with wheels because the devs are incompetent, they play bad because they're arcade games and shit. It's not something that can be fixed.
>arcade racing games weren't born in the arcade with wheels
Who are you quoting?
>Pressing right on the stick immediately snaps the camera to there. It's not a pan.
That's not how it works in modern racers. They haven't had snapping cameras for about two generations now and even if they did having them at a tap is still superior.
That's literally how it works in Forza 7, how is that not modern?
I agree OP. It's my favorite controller ever made.
As long as you get a later model with the fixed dpad
I'm not a nintendo fan but I agree. The battery is great, the design is good, and the weight of this controller makes it enjoyable to hold because I like when it has weight to it.
the d-pad is trash though, that's the only thing holding it back
Blocks ur path. Here is the best controller available for PC.
How does this compare to the Xbone Elite controller? Obviously it has the touchpad extra, but aside from that.
If the next Nintendo console’s Pro Controller does nothing but improve the D Pad a bit and add grip buttons, it’ll be the GOAT
>another $20 for a battery pack
epic
Looking over the site it seems thats only available in burgerland which si a shame as it looks quite interesting.
Here’s my thoughts on this
>they obviously took the Switch Pro controller as a base for this design, given the handles and trigger design
>swappable analog/dpad is awful. Don’t. Just asking for problems
>$200. Not only is it obviously going to have improvements when it costs as much as a console, but the cost of a controller should be weighed in its “best of all time” consideration. Could a $1000 controller be considered the best? Maybe functionally, but not overall given it’s cost-prohibitive.
>that aesthetic
I would like to try one though. I want official controllers to fucking add grip buttons already. This shit should be standard
>buy an Xbone controller and 4 rechargable batteries for the price of one switch pro controller
lol?
Based.
>only one stick which can be ignored anyway
Friendly reminder that sticks are absolute abortion of controllers design.
>can customize touch menus for each trackpad to be a mini keyboard
>trackball mode + gyro for perfect comfy aim
>that absolute niggerfaggotry of a d-pad
Why did the do this? This is objectively bad, unreliable, uncomfortable, ugly piece of shit.
I'm with you, analog triggers are pointless. Anyone who plays racing sims properly already owns a wheel.
What about arcade racers?
Can this shit be used on a console in any way? Like with those usb/bluetooth adapters? Id like to try it out
I play Ikaruga with mine and can almost 1cc the thing. Theres clearly a bunch that are perfectly fine.
Damn shame they stopped supporting Steam Hardware, my Link and pad have been acting weird late
They don't need analog, if you're not drifting at top speeds then you're playing wrong.
YOU ARE FUCKING EXPENSIVE, YOU DAMN PIECE OF SHIT.
Should i get one of this?
There are cases where you need to let off the gas so you don't need to break even in drifts. Again, you can always work around this, but it's a problem in the first place because the controller doesn't work well with driving games, arcade or otherwise.
No, I'm not 100% sure but I think I heard that the d-pad is not good. Also, it's not fucking wireless.
So what do i get? The pro controller is 60 fucking euros in my country, and 60 dollars is just 3 or 4 euros less, nothing else.
pls get a better dpad its the only reason i stopped using you
I bought a mayflash adapter to use an xbone controller on the Switch. That might be an option. I also considered buying a Nintendo Joycon and modding a dpad in myself.
I'd just wait for a sale. The controllers drop down to 50$ every once in a while on amazon. They are really good. I personally prefer everything about it over the xbone controller, except the dpad.
>people actually want analog shoulder buttons
Fucking why? They're the worst thing about modern controllers. It's a blessing when one -doesnt- have them. 99.9% of games dont use them which makes the analog lart just a bunch of pointless travel time. And for the fee games that do use them you're generally better off using something other than a controller anyway (like a proper wheel setup or a flight stick)
Fuck analog shoulder buttons
100% this!
>which makes the analog lart just a bunch of pointless travel time.
Just shorten it then.
What about games that have sections where an analog trigger is better, like driving in GTA?
There isn't a multiplatform video game that exists where your choice between Xbone/PS4/Nintendo dual analog controller makes a difference.
Comfort matters across all games.
