All hobbies are expensive and technically time wasters, but why does playing games as a hobby has a social stigma?

I heard two ladies on the bus the other day talking about Assassin's Creed
Ok, I just posted this image to the thread asking for expensive video related items I own. Because I own a video game development company and I posted a picture of their front door. How do I own a video game development company? By tricking them into thinking they own me. Yay!
Oh and I didn't even notice you used the word expensive too. What do we do now detante?

There isn't a social stigma to gaming in general
There's a social stigma to everything now. There's not one activity that isn't get sprayed haphazardly with the shame cannons. Society isnt. Where's the society! Donde esta? Just a bunch of third world country traumatised escapees.
Because for the longest time "gaming" was a hobby occupied almost exclusively by men of the lowest social status, and since there was no social credit to exploit it kept out women and poseurs.
That's changed a little now, but it's never going to fully shake off its stigma because by its very nature it can't exclude low-status, undesirable men.
Maybe you just have anxiety
Theres a social stigma against anything as long as you're ugly.
If you're good looking no one would care.
cos you don't really learn anything from it or do anything cool with it also loser men (lowest of the lowest) play games cos it doesn't take great strength or great things to play games it's nothing but pure waste of time you gain nothing from it yeah you got esports now but still
