You don't since money is meaningless outside of buying property.

Is that really a problem? I mean, GTA game are hardly about the progression. As much as it sounds like a marketing phrase, they're more about doing whatever you want. So being able to do a lot with money early on isn't really detrimental to what the games do best.

>GTA game are hardly about the progression
Rags to riches has been a common phrase in describing GTA for ages, but it HARDLY applies to nu-GTA so I guess you're right

You hardly get any money from missions early game

Once you get it though you don't need it anymore for the rest of the game

First of all has a good point, the games are mostly all about becoming rich. Second of all there IS a lot of money to be earned within the realms of organized crime.

Weapon crafting / customization.

Hell, more customization, make it cost.

GTAV stock market could've been a nice money sink but since it's half assed like other parts of the game, only use it has is getting infinite money with Lester assassinations

Just don't give the player opportunities to make big bux outside of the plot, GTAV's singleplayer solved this

Remove money

>GTAV solved this
>2/3 of the protagonists are already millionaires at the start of the game and the nigger gets a mansion 10% into the story and drives a sports car by default

>get arrested
>posting bail bankrupts you
>get wasted
>medical bill bankrupts you

What do you actually want to buy with the money? All you need is guns

Except negro driving a sports car, everything you said was wrong

I think he meant IV.

In IV you get a lot of money really fast like OP says, and after the bank robbery mission you have near infinite money.

>organized crime
You make mad money working as fireman, or better yet, military heli minigame. Fuck, get a good chain on heli and you can max out.

The odd "you magically get money for destroying vehicles" thing never made sense to me.

Think of how people lose money irl, it's really easy to avoid in a game
>taking loans and failing to pay them back
>skipping work and not getting paid as much
>emergencies (car repairs, police tickets, surprise hospital visits that aren't bullet induced)
>buying stupid useless shit (newest brand of TV's and phones, newest car models)
>getting scammed or robbed or sued and NOT getting it back in some epic revenge mission
>taxes and auditing
>buying groceries and then eating out anyways
>children
None of those translate into a game in a fun way, not as mechanics, and I'm sure most people would be pissed if they got jewed in a cutscene

Actually it matters more now in gtav than it ever has before. 3 was pointless as the only thing there was to spend money on was hospital billsor car bombs because all weapons are at your hideout after getting packages

SA was just a matter of save scumming and blowing everything on blackjack or some shit. Las venturas city was game breaking

Same with VC but it had buildings too.
4 there wasn't anything worth buying at all except a few ringtones

V is pretty much all about saving all your cash for post game and flipping it on the stock market to buy cars and shit you rarely get in the streets plus buildings for passive income or post game content

>get killed
>medical bill bankrupts you

Who here /conecrazyto99999999beforeasinglemission/?

No actually if you know what you are doing all throughout the story you can flip all 3 of the chars money so you quad or more all of your earnings for even more post game assassination loot.
Last time I played all 3 chars were billionaires after buying all properties except the gold course because I wanted it specifically for micheal but also want him to stay billionaire

>Accepting deaths

Basically saints row

Why does shit cost so much? A burger cost 10 times irl counterpart

This
I dont accept deaths or busted

Isn't it possible to save scum early as in SA with horse racing?

Gamble it all away every night you stop playing.

Would be kind of immersion breaking since the MCs are usually supposed to be level headed.

I abused the horse racing the first time playing SA. Went there early on and then I had billions of dollars right away

You also drive over random people

No, that's just you.

It was kind of silly in GTA 4 when Nico kept saying he needed money, when in reality there was nothing to spend it on.
The best way to fix that problem, though, is to have the writing acknowledge that money is just a way of keeping score, and not really all that useful.

>immersion breaking
Have you seen the crazy shit they do for missions?

Rockstar will never learn as it's almost at parody levels in RDR2. You can have thousands of dollars and constantly bankroll the camp with donations but nothing ever changes because of it, even though the entire game is about getting more money.

In 5 they made it a bitch and a half to make enough money to buy the properties. If you missed gaming the stock market you pretty much had to cheat to get enough.

It's the usual action hero shit, what are you talking about?

>make a game about being a criminal
>only way to actually make money is to not spend a single penny throughout the game and then cheese the stock market with the assassination missions in the post-game
What a fucking joke.

>he doesn't drive carefully
>he doesn't obey the speed limit
Horrible

all they need to do is have the same goddamn onwership system that online does for properties and vehicles.

they let you buy tons of vehicles in V and sure you can save them in your character's garage or a handful of other special locations where a character was temporarily living, but what's the point in spending all your money on a sports car and fully modding it in singleplayer when you start a mission or you get killed while using it and then it's just fucking gone.

I can't recognize this pattern at all. I got money for property just fine by doing missions and side missions.

What's worse is that, after you did buy all the properties, all you got was nagged on the phone to go defend that shit or run errands.

You don't get enough money to buy all of the properties for all three guys unless you save Franklin's assassination missions for the aftergame, which let you make some investments that multiply your money.
I don't know if they patched it afterwards, I played it back when it came out in 2013.

the only gta i played where i remember money being an issue was Vice City. and to drive it home, I've played all of them besides V using cheats. you never needed money in III and San Andreas had money codes. Hell, maybe VCS did too I don't remember but I'm sure you never needed money in LCS.

But Vice City required you to buy several properties to finish the game. I remember buying malibu and then needing to grind a bit to get the printing press.

*cop drives up to you*
STOP
YOU'VE VIOLATED THE LAW
PAY THE COURT A FINE OR SERVE YOUR SENTENCE

A lot of the things you do aren't something a level headed person would do.
The point is, gambling your money away isn't immersion breaking.

>go outside
>get shot
Truly a biting commentary on the current state of america. How do these scotch cunts even know?

I didn't buy everything, but the game finished earlier than I expected so I thought I was going at a respectable pace.

Playing gambling minigames for longer than you play the actual game isn't fun though. And it's more likely you actually win money from gambling if you're trying to win.

The most money you can reasonably finish the game with is about 30mil per character. The golf course costs 100mil. There's no way you're getting that much money without abusing the stock market.

Make end game stuff require grinding to buy. That will probably make some people angry because they can't play superhero.

In SA you could gamble all of your money in one go at the horse race. You can't do that in 5?

why would they patch it? the point of the assassination missions IS gaming the stock market. or do you mean making it so it only changes for franklin? because yeah smart people invested as Michael and trevor as well

wow I got every trophy in this damn game save for one of the multiplayer ones concerning coming first in an assload of gametypes. i think i somehow blocked all the properties and their tasks you had to do with them from my memory. .

well the game in your picture is san andreas, and for the first 10 missions you only get $1500 so...

Saints Row had that first. Buy a car once, and you'll have an infinitely spawning supply in your garage.
The vehicle modding was fun too.
I really wish Saints Row wasn't dead.

Don't know abou the new ones, but SA and VC do money progression really good.

GTA is garbage anyway. Literally turd world brazil nigger shithole-tier of vidya.

he literally said this in his post but outside of the story its fucking useless. it takes forever to make some money.

VC already solved it. Expensive properties which unlock real quest paths (a text message telling you to go to A and kill a couple of dudes isn't a real quest).

>not suing them and making them pay
LMAOing@lyfe

>why would they patch it? the point of the assassination missions IS gaming the stock market. or do you mean making it so it only changes for franklin? because yeah smart people invested as Michael and trevor as well

I think you should have been more of them and spread more evenly throughout the game. I thought they were pretty fun missions and they're the best way to make money. Actually it could be fun if it wasn't just scripted missions, if you could for instance intercept shipping trucks belonging to some company to get their stock to tank, or stumble upon some CEO shopping for clothes and murdering him etc...

Of course during subsequent playthroughs you know that you only have a few opportunities to capitalize on these missions and you know what to do but during my first playthrough I mostly missed the opportunity. I didn't have a lot of money as Franklin (and I didn't invest all of it because I was worried that it was a trap), I didn't bother to invest the other character's money etc...

>Actually it could be fun if it wasn't just scripted missions, if you could for instance intercept shipping trucks belonging to some company to get their stock to tank
This works apparently, if you destroy a load of Redwood trucks for instance, their stocks will plummet. Never tried it myself though.

Bail and hospital fees are a clean 25% of income.

Reoffending incurs a court trial where that figure is increased to 60%.

>GTAV's singleplayer solved this
lester's assassination missions that let you manipulate the stock market say hello.

Uh, that's pretty cool, wonder why I never heard of it before.

It's a hold over from the older games where you had to reach a certain amount to unlock the next city. It was just. Scoreboard with a $ in front of it.

Nick needed a big stash of money so he could stop being a criminal and sort his life out. Since he wanted to live off it he needed a lot of savings

I kinda remember struggling with money in SA as a kid. Like a lot
I remember the mission where you had to buy the airfield for 100k or something, i spent weeks trying to earn the money.
Then i discovered cheats, and the horse racing exploit and never looked back

>taking loans and failing to pay them back
youtube.com/watch?v=MzxnY01K-6A

>even the protagonist wants to stop playing the game
Worst GTA.

what was the reason he got a free mansion again? I kinda forgot, was it some assassination?

Funny because money is more valuable in GTA online since missions barely give anything while cars, clothes, and property costs you a liver
