Tried this today. Anyone else thinks this is a really strange game?
I didn't have any bias or expectations going in and I'm not a Yea Forums contrarian who blindly hates anything remotely popular. In fact my mind was very open and I was excited to finally see the new Doom iteration and I don't even hate it but...
This REALLY doesn't even try to be like Doom. It feels very clean in design (the enemies look like smooth polished putty warriors from Power Rangers), the world feels very video-gamey like a Star Trek kind of station and I know they tried to make Doomguy seem badass, but the narration feels like a self-parody. (the worst is the computer voice in your helmet speaking like a waiter taking your order) I can also sense a bit of Serious Sam in this. I'll continue and play through it, but I'm genuinely surprised how 'not Doom' this is. Also I thought they would include a heavy metal kind of soundtrack, but this sounds like some subdued industrial tune.
Am I just an old, boring boomer or did you think something similar about this?
Honestly, I feel the same way. The gore kind of feels too...clean for want of a better word, the arenas don't feel big enough during combat, and the music...kind of sucks. BFG Division is probably the only memorable track.

I don't even like nudoom but you're obviously some kid pretending to understand video games if you complain it's not doom because it's video-gamey
DOOM II was my favourite game back in 1996 and stll is. Played the shit out of it when i got my first computer and then in zDaemon era. Sometimes i go to cacowards to see if there is anything interesting to play this year.
And I have to say that new Doom is fucking amazing. It doesnt play like old doom but in my opinion it has THE FEEL of it.The overall quality of game is something i didnt expect from bethesda. Its visually stunnig, graphical design is very appealing, music is killing it. Its basically brutal doom on steroids.
