What is 2FA?
>that gross profile pic
Yeah I'm sure its account was "hacked" by no fault of its own
2 Factors Authenticators, basically they send you a code if you log in from a different device.
BTFO
Tranny alarm
How much money you wanna bet that these guys who got hacked with 2FA use Authy?
There's a reason Google Auth doesn't give you the option to backup your verification codes. That shit is extremely exploitable.
>597 accounts
HAHAHAHAHA
You are like little baby

What 2FA method was used? I doubt it was possible with actual 2FA, but if it was email (with maybe the same password) then it would've been trivial.
>2015
They send you an email code like this
Imagine how high it is now!
I was talking about that person specifically, because Epic also supports Google Authenticator, which would require their phone to be stolen.
Probably lower as most Steam users probably use the 2FA.
**********
woah
4channel censors your steam passwords
try it out
Just like they "probably" used the 2FA when the article was written LOL

It really does work. Thanks kind user!
$bbc4megabenewell
So you're telling me that there are as many people on the earth now as there were in 2015?
This is how my Runescape account got "hacked". Fuck that dude.
I'm telling you that Valve's security is even worse than Epic's.
this guy's lying don't post your passwords
Doesn't work dude, I see your password. Better delete that post right now.
I'm sorry for your loss
Do you mind telling the password then?
ilovejustinbieber
did it work?
>Just like they "probably" used the 2FA when the article was written LOL
>when the articles talks about attemps before 2FA was enabled
You should really start to read what you post, Chang.

did you just actually do it though?

How many times are you going to BTFO yourself, Valve drone?

>Not mentioned
Hmmm.
Dude just log into your Yea Forums pass, everyone can see it, it's only censored for non-pass users
I hope that user didn't.
I REALLY HOPE.
It's more likely people started using 2FA after it was required to get full marketplace functionality. There's logic to it.
Stfu Sonytard.
>one-time event in 2016
>251,661 accounts
>Valve has 70k hacked accounts monthly since 2015 at least
>that's at least 3,360,000 hacked accounts
Hmm, REALLY made me think

Based, I love the chocolate Noggers.
Rosecranz1234
didnt work
Epic accounts have been hacked since that event as well, I'm just saying that Epic's security is observably worse.
I use Steam since 2010, never got hacker nor recieved emails where someone tried to enter my account
I used the Epic Game Launcher for Fortnite in 2018, i recieved emails that my account was locked for numerous failed log in attempts every other day.
password
Based on reddit-user's 800 player "leak", we'll say worst case scenario 800 a month and we'll even apply it all the way back to 2016. We'll round up and that's 20,000. Let's tally them:
Epic: 27,1661
Steam: 3,360,000
Yep, Steam is still objectively and factually worse for security by a long shot.
Cool story. Never happened to me. Maybe you shouldn't pirate so many games with malware-laden cracks

>I'm just saying that Epic's security is observably worse.
Yeah, but Valves is STATISTICALLY worse.
>Confronting data from 2015 with data from 2019
You can't just say that because you don't know all the numbers, that it's lower.
Based on only Valve's numbers, that's not how good statistics work.
Never did.
If I was that dumb I would probably use the EGS as of now.
Yeah suddenly everyone's getting hacked
Then provide some numbers to prove me wrong. This is all with data provided by you Valve drones, which is the sad part. Go ahead, try and change the narrative some more.
>I thought it was impossible to hack an account with 2-step verification
Lmao.
Nothing is invulnerable. Don't put your life dependencies online, kids.
>signed up for an epic account to play UT when it was still alive
>At one point in 2017 was receiving emails daily about unsuccessful login attempts
>Thought it was spam trying to phish me.
Turns out it was real, huh.
I already provided data to prove that Epic's security is worse than Valve's. Besides, people getting hacked is more about their security than the service's security.
Where?
In this thread obviously.
orangemanbad@fuckdrumpf69
testing
2 FA is actually a pretty shit security method nowadays with phone vulnerabilities and sim card spoofing.
Where?
Most 2 factor is done through email
Most people use the same password for multiple accounts
My younger brother got hit like that once. He used the same username and password for every single account he made on the internet. And when his Origin account got hacked, the hacker went down a list and essentially hijacked my brother's entire online presence. Took him nearly 3 weeks to get almost everything back.
honestly, typing your actual steam pw here wouldn't actually do anything if you don't have an account name to go with it
>type password
>use rainbowtable for the username
It would add it to the list, and make it an insecure password. But yeah, you'd probably be safe for a bit. I wouldn't take that gamble.
>find username
>access account
>account only has hatoful boyfriend on it with 40k hours playtime
Based and steampills

>Use same password on Steam/EGS and email

123cheesecake
multiple pass word attempts can lock the account
but guessing the username doesnt
and besides i already the password but not the username
even though i would never break in to someones elses steam account
I remember checking my emails and seeing someone used my email to create a fucking fortnite account, so i looked it up and found out I was not the only one suffering from this, so I tried to delete it and couldn't find the button to do it, so I just "forgot password" that account, changed the password, and never looked backed at it again, but I still see someone trying to access that account every now and then.
hey that's my password
A data breach is Epic's fault, hacked accounts aren't, moron.
>Access denied. You have exceeded the maximum allowed login attempts for this session. Please try again later.
Good luck you'd only need a billion times the age of the universe to get into even one account.
>It's not Valves fault Steam's security is so shitty!

Steam doesn't hack my GOG Galaxy, browsing history and private documents.
>mfw the option to pirate and have games without drm has always been available but people choose to pay their money for "service" games
I don't blame Epic and Valve, even Microsoft, praying on people so gullible
You're an imbecile, hacked accounts means someone got sloppy with their password. If you write your creditcard number on a public bathroom wall it's not Visa's fault someone used it to buy Dragon dildo's from Amazon now is it.
The Epic data breach on the other hand was entirely Epic's fault.
retard alert
>You're an imbecile
>follows up with a long-winded non-argument
VALVE DRONES LADIES AND GENTS
Steam has had one of the worlds biggest leaks in history, what the fuck are you talking about?
>i bet they set the backdoors intentionally
Considering US American company's track record with that, I wouldn't trust anyone.
Cisco is probably the most famous example for that. Secret backdoor admin accounts on practically everything they have ever sold.
Google, Microsoft and Facebook don't even need to do that. You give them everything in plaintext anyway.
Iabortedhiskidin2017
That still doesn't explain why EGS searches the file localconfig.vdf, which is a Steam file.

VaIvedrones are tech illiterate that knows nothing about computers, more news at 11.

Are you even trying?
Only dwarfed by Sony's leaks huehuehuhehuehue
Why have two factor if you don't even fucking authenticate emails you fucks

Must be hard trying to learn Engrish from just browsing Yea Forums and /mlp/ to earn those sought-after 50 cents.
>one of the worlds biggest leaks in history
Not even close. and it was all expired cards from historical sales data. I know its asking a lot what with how hard you are trying already, but please try harder if you want people to be on board.
You are posting data from over 3 years ago, and you call me out on posting "old" stuff?
Same here. I swear they just leak the info to chinks so they can try and steal CC details. I disabled my account because of the spam.
How are they getting into accounts with 2fa? How do you fuck that up?
The webm isn't fake, you just don't understand what's happening in it but you present it as if you do understand. Classic dunning-kruger effect. Educate yourself.
It was literally around the 30'th biggest leak in history, I have no idea how a single person can still trust Steam's security.
I wasn't aware of that one, it wasn't listed on HIBP. Probably because there wasn't any evidence that encrypted credit card numbers or personally identifying information were taken by the intruders.
>can't even count his own sentences
double digit IQ ROFL
Holy shit, and these Steam drones call Epic's security bad. Shame on you for defending this shit, Valve drones.
>he has a gmail, paypal, facebook, twitter, reddit account
>he has his phone number tied to any of these
>his details, money, everything can be stolen on a whim
big yikes fampai
It's correct though. You don't say a certain lock is shit because you tape the key to it, you say the guy that taped the key to it is a retard.
Don't forget that you are FORCED to link your phone number to Steam if you want to use the marketplace or play ranked modes in some games.
hmmm...
Why do Redditors and Resetera hate Epic store so much?
>FORCED to link your phone number to Steam if you want to use the marketplace
Imagine telling lies on the internet.
What's wrong with your phone number being stolen? And your name and shit is inevitable to be shared if you want to buy things.
>Use the exact same email/password on all your DRM accounts, emails, games, everything
>"Wowwww how I got hacked????"
Betting OP's pic is just a salty shitter that fucking sucked several games in a row and wants to get their rank back, though.
>who cares about privacy bro, lmao just click agree
i'm out of the loop
what does OOTL stand for?
I'm not sure what they could do with my account information, I don't have my card details remembered on any of the services.
What else do you use?
>my corporate overlord is better than your corporate overlord.

Not at all what I'm saying, I'm asking how it's a privacy breach if your phone number gets out there.

>better side with the store that's destroying my hobby
Reverse false flagging. Gotta shill them epic dollars through any rational insanity
>trusting China
To all epic niggers thinking they are smart because they say"oh look steam accounts get hacked too".
No, not really in fact gaben's account password is moolyftw and no one has been able to access it.
In order for you to get hacked you litterally need to have a virus on someones phone send you the data from the steam app at real time(user's fault and android/ios security fault).
