Only played Sekiro and DaS 1 so far, but I gotta say DaS is pretty shit. Retarded levels of backtracking until you get the Lordvessel plus it's deliberately made to be frustrating with how far away each bonfire is to a boss. And it actually wouldn't even need to artificially draw out its length because it is a rather long game anyway.
Sekiro improved so drastically over this.

How are DaS 2 and 3 in that regard? Because from core gameplay point of view I liked DaS 1, but I'm not gonna bother spending so much time running around anymore.

Considering your complaints, i'd say you'll enjoy DaS 3 over the first. It's faster, bonfires are closer, you can teleport from the start and there's little backtracking.
