If you played Sengoku Rance you'll know that it's the exception, in that the gameplay is great. It's the typical example of come for the porn, stay for the gameplay. Plus with the multiple routes, the score system and the free for all mode there's plenty reasons to replay it.
It's only for Sengoku (and Kichikou) though, other Rance games are more linear basic RPG.

just start with sengoku rance honestly. it's a pretty good predictor of if you'll enjoy rance or not, once you spend some time learning how shit works and get your cunt kicked. which ofcourse i still haven't done, cause i end up getting demolished eventually everytime i play and can't manage my time effectively to do dungeons or anything

I bought and finished Evenicle on Steam earlier this year. Took me 65 hours in total, fucking amazing game. I'll buy any other AliceSoft game they put on Steam, such as Rance X or Evenicle 2. Just do it.
