The end of the Ultima retrospective was the beginning of the end. Initially he was trolling and mocking people for taking this shit so seriously. Then he literally starts crying on camera complete with mascara about how a shitty distant sequel to a PC game series ruined his life.

How does he even live? Genuinely asking. His Patreon's down to trickle (though it being above zero is a miracle). April doesn't appear to have an actual job. He doesn't make any new videos. He hasn't been formally employed for over a decade, so no workman's comp or disability. His streams are sub-1,000 viewers. And despite having a CS degree from ASU, the math requirements for which should at least qualify him for some entry level data analyst job even if he hasn't kept up on his certs, he doesn't appear to have any sort of day job. Is he on state welfare?

I know very little about America's economics but 100k~ dolarioos a year for maybe 2-3 years at his peak popularity doesn't sound like a lot in certain parts of the country. Considering he was also a loser who lived with his parents and couldn't handle a real job I'd say that money is completely gone.

I think Cr1tikal's going down, unfortunately. I used to think he was genuinely admirable for openly acknowledging that YouTube is a hobby, not a career, and donating tens of thousands of charity. A couple years back he stopped donating to charity (fair) and refused to get a job after graduating college (no). He now seems to live entirely off of YouTube. He did mention in an earlier video that the only job he could get really get was "exercise trainer" (he has an exercise physiology degree) which he hates. So maybe. But I was surprised because he seemed like just about the only big YouTuber with any sort of self-awareness. In his podcast he even once brushed off his co-hosts complaining about YouTube being money-grubbing by pointing out that YouTube is a net loss for Google and anyone depending on it for a living is on shaky ground to begin with.

The longer he waits, the less psychological incentive to look, and the bigger experience gap opens on any CV.
