but battlefield 2 is dead in my region

Modern planes are gay but the only WW2 game that's not massively autistic is war thunder. And war thunder is dogshit.

Kotobuki made me play war thunder again to fly the hayabusa, but I haven't shot down a single fucking plane with it and get killed every single match. I've flown almost a hundred battles in RB and have five kills.

Should have flown a real plane, tovarish.

That's including Russian planes.
I just want a cool single player story based game with WW2 fighters. I want a Kotobuki game by Aces.

Multiplayer flying games are not good

it always devolves into people flying in a goddamn swarm of loops trying to pull tighter turns than the other retards

Maneuvering no longer matters because it's not a real pilot feeling real G forces

You can pull the tightest possible inside loops at the highest speed and get away with it over and over. Usually you'd just die.

It's like when a dog tries to chase its tail, but 10 minutes, and you're the dog and you're trapped. It's terrible. If they introduce G force limits to multiplayer dogfighting, then it might turn into something vaguely resembling reality.

Attached: 1539952746349.jpg (1920x810, 1.04M)

>You can pull the tightest possible inside loops
You loose your vision and, if you pull a tiny bit more, your consciousness and crash your plane. What the fuck are you even talking about. There is also a body adaptation - when you slowly increase your g-force you can adapt to it and then pull a bit more g's without negative effects. You clearly haven't played any plane games.

Attached: 1501334258491.jpg (1920x1080, 133K)

Nigger please, Aces high has you fucking blackout if you pull that shit. IL-2 for sure did as well. As did MCFS3.

Seriously though how do you get good at dogfighting. Every time I try, I read up on air combat maneuvers, try and absorb the gist of it (I can't get the specifics), go online, and then as soon as I see an enemy it all flies out of my brain and I end up pulling back on the stick and just doing turns until the enemy gets behind me and shoots me down. I can't even begin to think of what move to do since I have to dedicate all my time to getting the enemy off my tail. It doesn't help that it's so easy to lose the enemy and then they might as well be fucking invisible until they reappear behind me, shooting my plane full of holes.

I try but I don't feel like I'm learning anything from each death, just getting angrier. And it takes so long between deaths (respawn, take off, climb for like ten minutes) that I'm learning nothing very slowly.

How are you meant to fly the Ki43? Like, what moves are you supposed to do with it? Is it a turnfighter, boom and zoom, what? I just want to shoot down planes.

On it, I love the Strikers 1945 games!

Attached: Strikers-1945-10.png (224x320, 26K)

Imagine Ki-43 as a smaller zero. It has good climb, enough to outclimb Americans and russians. It has very good turn rate on low to medium speeds enough to out turn anything except biplanes. Good energy retention to the point that you can lure enemies into a spiral climb and come out on top. Ki-43 only kinda sucks on diving because of its light weight. Other airplanes will outdive you and good players will do so since hayabusas tend to lock up on high speed dives. Its guns are the only sad part about the plane. Go for stealth belt and practice hitting their engines instead of their wings. Also just because your plane can turn on a dime doesn't mean you flat turn everytime as it burns a lot of speed. Learn to manage your speed.

Thank you for replying.
Is it that good at climbing? It feels like it doesn't climb that well, I'm struggling to keep it at 200kmh or above when I'm climbing at what feels like a shallow angle. I'll admit that I don't know what the baseline is or how fast you should climb or anything like that, though.

Just finished AC4 a couple of weeks ago and I'm in love with the game
helps that I am an actual pilot so the game got easy

Doing it in a plane that's actually good and not a meme because it has a big gun

neat what plane is this? I fly civilian

I can't remember what's the optimal climb of hayabusas are but I usually go above 350+ kmh at around 15-20 degrees IIRC. 200 kmh is near stalling speed for a climb. They perform best low to medium altitude but still outperforms other planes up to 5000km high. Also change your speed indicator to IAS as it is more practical. IAS tells you what your wings feel as it moves through the air. Planes tend to become a brick the higher they are because of the thinner air on high alts. As long as you stay 300+ IAS your plane will maneuverable.

How do you tell your degrees of climb? Practicing with the plane now, switched to IAS. There's the vertical speed gauge which gives me 15m/s for 325kmh. Is that a decent climb speed then? Sorry for the stupid questions.

why not look up the planes V speeds?
theres:
>Vr
>Vx
>Vy
and so on

Try climbing at 220 IAS

Look into the concept of "energy fighting", and practice your gunnery.
It's all well and good knowing all the fancy stunts that might let you reverse a bad situation when you get bounced, but the "trick" to air combat is to set yourself up with all the advantages you can muster before the fight even starts and ideally end it in one pass, but otherwise only coming back around to keep pressuring your target into throwing his plane around to avoid your attacks until they're so low and slow they can no longer respond.
Getting caught up "chasing tail" at best gets you killed as often as it gets you a kill.
In other words, don't "dogfight" if you can at all avoid it; for every webm of a fancy reversal you see, I guarantee you there's a hundred unrecorded instances of being miserably crushed by someone attacking from a superior energy state.

Check the wiki but 15m/s is its max sustained climb I think. Go first person without the cockpit, there's an indicator on the left and right side of the virtual horizon.

It's easier and less frustrating to go with a friend in 1v1s and get the basics down

Practise aerobatics too since it's the exact same principles, you wanna be managing your energy state compared to his

I just tried but I couldn't find anything. I looked up what those were and it seems complicated. Plus I don't know how accurate WT's stats are to real life.
I'm trying to learn simulator battles, but I assume the indicator is in m/s as well so I'll shoot for 15 from now on, it seemed managable.

I don't have any friends who play flight combat games.

IL-2 46 chads assemble

Thanks for the invite, but I don't use discord. I mostly play on PS4 since my PC's dead so that's why I'm playing War Thunder (since there's nothing else plane related).
I used to play 1946 but all I did was set up flights of enemy Me323s to use as a shooting gallery.

it's strength in speed. climb and drop, it's bf109g6 of early days, great plane

In what state is War Thunder these days? I stopped playing in 2013 I think, are historical battles still a thing?

Attached: 1527670277297.png (668x600, 308K)

So the climbing thing. I set up a test flight with rookie AI. I put them in P36s since they seem to be the same tier as the Ki43. I got one on my tail in the middle of the battle and so I tried climbing: but they could still shoot me, and I ended up stalling. How long does it take for the other plane to not be able to follow you any more?
I'm trying not to do what I normally do when I get a bandit on my six (which is just pick a random direction and turn hard) but I'm replacing it with not much. I don't know what to do.

It's now called RB and has barely changed at all since like 2014.

This is kino even though I only wish the gameplay was more realistic instead of arcade-y.

nazis raus

what do you think happens when you try climbing when someone on your back? you lose speed=>easier for enemy to aim at you
climb before combat. it's same as IRL, ww2 was about climbing.

so they dropped all dev time into stupid tanks? mainstream likes tanks more, they are easier to understand I guess.

How high up should I climb? When I'm above the enemy, didn't someone say the hayabusa is bad in a dive?
I just managed to shoot down a bot. I found even when I was 100m or so behind him, it took me a minute or two to whittle his health down or get enough hits in, most of my magazine in fact. It feels like a lot of shots that should hit miss. I can upload the footage if you want, see what issues I'm having.

>it always devolves into people flying in a goddamn swarm of loops trying to pull tighter turns than the other retards
Try playing something else other than ace combat for once if you think air combat is just turn fighting lmao

you simply do not understand piston plane combat yet. watch a video. It's hard to explain you need to nail down two things.
distances are very important, learn aim at the lead and learn to see speed differences speed
if memory serves ki43 flatter is around 720km/h, that's a lot, you can dive in safely on anything in that class and shoot at around 200-150m mark, do not try to shoot at 500m mark, 300-350m is tops what you should press fire

If there's an enemy behind you doing a lag persuit meaning he's following you behind on a attacking distance and both of you have more or less the same speed, there's nothing much you can do since you don't possess enough energy to gain separation between you two. Either you go straight and pray your plane is faster, which is not most of the time. Dive, speed up, perform scissors and slow down and pray he overshoots or pull up and perform a climbing corkscrew while rolling of course and with your landing flaps on and pray he doesn't shoot you down IMO.

I'm other words, create bfm problems

Oh and you also can do flat turns against anything not a biplane just remember to also roll.

Do you have any recommended videos? I've watched a few but a lot of them seem to assume knowledge you don't have, and I can't really learn from watching straight gameplay, I don't pull anything from it.

There's my best gunnery so far.

The aircraft mods for BeamNG are surprisingly fun and realistic but theres nothing you can really do. Loading the AN cargo plane and crashing it with a load of cars or just driving trucks into the turbo props is fun. juvenile but hilarious
