I've picked up an early copy of World War Z, that will be released next week. Played it for a few hours, ask me anything

Some setpieces are really fun, for example in the second niyc mission you have to climb a huge silo while hordes of zombies are suicide juming from above to get to you

There is a skill tree for each class, you unlock perks as you progress, stuff like reloading faster or starting a mission with a shotgun or an extra grenade.

The skill trees are different for each class.

You can also upgrade weapons and their models change accordingly.

There are a good amont of weapons

Gunplay feels a little bit weak on the weapons sounds and recoil, but shooting zombies is responsive and fun

The only issue I have is that when fighting a huge horde you can see the body of dead zombies clipping and dissapearing a lot.

There is also minor carnage left behind when you kill a horde which is a shame.

Other than that the gore system is surprizingly detailed and responsive.

Looks really mediocre

Haven't read the book, it's exactly like the movie except you are actively fighting the zombies instead of running away from them.

But it is true that in some instances you have to run away.

It is in a way, its a 30 dollar game. But it is in the upper levels of mediocrity, it feels polished enough to have some fun for a while with it.

The book was about the slow descent into chaos. Zombies were not fast sprinters. Had multiple points of view about the collapse of society and logical solutions to fighting the zombies. It is a great book, as well as the Day by Day series.

It's like playing left 4 dead solo, not really fun.

Only played with retards at the moments which is quite bad. People sprint to weapons drop point to take gear before you do. Unlike l4d when you pick a gun up it dissapears. or rather it is exchanged with the gun the character switched it with.

how does the zombie destruction physics compare to l4d? From what I've seen it just looks like basic ragdolls.

Torrent them. Getting into Myanonymous is quite easy and gives you access to thousands of books.

If I recall correctly zombie destruction in L4d was pretty basic too.

It's the case here but they respond properly when shot, they crawl when you shot the legs, their faces fall of or explode on headshots and their limbs can be severed.

Since it's coming out literally 10 years after left4dead, is it a better game overall? Technically, it should be better in every regard. I have like 1k hours of gameplay between l4d 1 and 2. Will I like WWZ as much?

You can never like something new as much as something you have nostalgia for.

I would say that it is not but it is probably the closest we'll ever get from L4D3

Just noticed a nce detail, zombie models change depending on the mission, in Russia you have zombies with winter clothes and chapkas, in NYC you have firemen zombies, workers zombies etc

I don't have nostalgia for l4d, was just stating the fact that I have a shitload of hours played in those games and was wondering if I'd like wwz as much, since in theory, it SHOULD be better in every single way since it's had 10 years to improve on the formula. Being worse in any regards seems somewhat unacceptable.
