DMC4 and DMC5 have painted a very clear picture of Nero. Specifically, what he thinks of weapons and combat. He does not really give two fucks about wielding different weapons so long as those weapons allow him to hit things harder. You can let him use Yamato, sure, but I guarantee you that he would just treat it like a Red Queen that doesn't rev.

I love Nico, and what she brings to the table but HOPEFULLY, DMC6 allows Nero to showcase his own ingenuity again. Again I like Nico, but she kinda took away from Nero's whole "design and tweak my own weapons" thing. user, he didn't even make Red Queen. Agnus did. He just took one of Agnus' rev swords and said "You know what? This doesn't have NEARLY enough unga", so he made it rev harder. He just removed the weapon's limiter, something Agnus added in because most people wouldn't be able to handle it otherwise.
Blue Rose IS Nero's creation, but it's also pretty stupid and clearly shows what Nero's all about. Also, a quad-barreled shotgun feels like it would be inferior to Dante's "I put fucking magazines on a double-barreled shotgun purely for the purpose of making Fireworks a little easier to pull off". There are already tri-barreled shotguns, so adding a fourth barrel seems kinda pointless, especially since Nero wouldn't even need it. Color Up+charge pretty much makes Red Queen a miniature shotgun anyway.
Nero generally seems to have a "simple is best" mentality. He modified a revolver to shoot two bullets because he wants to be able to do in one motion what would otherwise take two. He modified Red Queen and removed its limiter because he wanted to hit things harder. Plus it's stated that Nero's Red Queen was breaking down because he couldn't really maintain it properly. Apparently, its internal mechanisms are a little more complicated than what he's used to. The first job Nico did for Nero was fix Red Queen.

People in our world wouldn't actually do it either way. It's a stupid idea but it fits Nero. Nero's imagination seems to be limited towards very specific goals. Like his Devil Bringer has so many possible applications, but he mostly just uses it to throw things and do wrestling moves. This is what Nero is. We know this is what Nero is because the only uses he had for a magic demon blade that can cut through literally anything was A) shoot sword lasers or B) hit things really, really hard.
Well of COURSE Nero could do it if they made him smarter. Also, Trish could have beaten Urizen if she were stronger, Vergil could have avoided twenty years of demon aids if he weren't an autistic manchild and Dante could consistent running electricity and water if he weren't the worst businessman in two worlds. These things COULD have happened, but they didn't.

It gives the level some flavor, which is desperately needed in later levels. Not that it needs to be limited to only superficial environmental changes; you could make it possible to sequence break if you go fast enough or you get around the obstacles by doing whatever movement tricks you want. There would have been level shifts or movements during fights (they do this a little in V's shipyard level where Gilgamesh's legs are bursting in through the ceiling for one fight). They could have put in some dumb demon reason for trains to be running during the V and Nero's subway level (retool Cavaliere or something since pieces of him have been shown to give vehicles demonic sentience to some degree) so that during fights on the tracks, subway cars scream by every now and then, damaging player and enemies alike.

It was pretty shit, to be honest. I wish that DMC used "puzzle" areas to teach players about its deeper combat mechanics. Like someone in the thread mentioned that Nero doesn't have any defensive options and then another person brought up that once you get DT, Nero can do Hold, which uses an enemy like a meatshield. One, this comes up at the very end of the game and two, this is a mechanic that I don't think ever really gets introduced to the player in DMC4 or 5. A simple "puzzle" like Empusas or something weak being shat out in front of an area where one of the bosses or some other demon is shooting damaging projectiles at the player nonstop, so Nero has to grab the enemy and use it as a meatshield to run through all the projectiles to get up close to the enemy.
These kinds of small teaching moments would serve to not only break up the pacing of levels so you aren't just constantly moving from one combat room to the next, but also help players explore combat more efficiently too by introducing them to combat techniques they never would have tried before. Grim grips are a small example of this.
I actually liked the small areas in M15 where Nero can use Gerbera to platform, Ragtime to slow down the spikes, and Punchline to ride up slopes. There were alternate solutions to these "puzzles" too, which was an added bonus.
The game needed more of that kind of stuff.

I slightly agree here that most of her personality is "she's extremely kind/caring, altruistic and forgiving" though that's not necessarily a bad thing when she's mainly a side character. I don't think their relationship itself is badly written, more like they haven't had a chance for us to see more interactions between them. This is mostly coming out of my ass but I kind of thing that maybe Itsuno took a lot of people complaining about Kyrie in 4 too harshly and shafted her kinda in 5, I wish she had said more on her phonecall with Nero at the end. And maybe something like how some people were suggesting Nero call her throughout the game?

to be quite honest we don't know how long exactly the anime takes place after 1. In one of the episodes Trish implies her and Dante were working together for years. Though that was in the english dub and I'm not sure if that line was in the japanese language version. And yeah I know what most people consider canon in DMC is the english voices (I do too) but it might not be the case for the anime, since I think the sub came first and the dub was kind of half assed. Also Patty is confirmed to be 18 in 5, and she was like 8 at the youngest in the anime. So maybe Dante is more like his early 30's in the animu. Dude, Nero could probably swing the sword with his own arm far faster than the propulsion mechanism could. Red Queen's rev simply adds to Nero's already explosive raw power. But a sheath that shoots out the sword to enhance iai? Nero has no need for that, he could probably hit things harder and faster without it.

I'm pretty sure Agnus invented that. Nero just put three of them on a huge sword. IIRC normal humans can't use the RQ without ripping their arms off, same with the BR. Nero's just throwing more dakka into his weapons and is too stupid to realize that his inventions would have killed him if he wasn't part demon.

Part of the reason he uses it this way is not only because of how heavy it is, but also how it would fly out of normal people's hands. There's no reason why someone as agile as him could not use other styles, he pretty much matched dante agileness with one arm in DMC4. And used a completely different weapon in the opening.
