>join up with the Reapers in an attempt to restore Rhyme back to normal only to get told that he has to kill Neku in order to prove his loyalty to the Reapers
>be unable to kill Neku anyway due to him showing kindness towards Beat and giving him Rhyme’s pendant
>gets told that he’ll die in five days due to not accumulating points in his time as a Reaper and almost fades away from existence on the last day

I was watching Itsuno's GDC talk about DMCV and he opens it with a thesis statement about trying to make games that replicate a feeling or experience in the player and working backwards from that goal.
I think TWEWY is a perfect example of that. It's so crystal clear the vision and experience of Shibuya that the devs and designers wanted to give the player. Even the fantastical elements felt like just another dimension to experience what the devs experienced more directly and explicitly.
Hence why I don't think SquEnix should try at a sequel: unless the team had a similar burst of inspiration they wanted to capture, I don't think anything could live up.

I emulated it on my phone when my ds stopped working. All you need is to bottom screen it and set your partner to auto. The only time I've needed to manually use the d-pad (turn on on screen controls) was the final boss, still very fun to play the only problem is that your finger will block the screen more than a stylus but you will get use to it.

I played through Switch version just fine with both touch and joycon controls. Playing with a capacitive stylus is even more authentic.
Coop can be played solo for an additional challenge. That said the difficulty is definitely not there when you get the hang of the controls because your partner is basically immortal.

TWEWY went out of its way to utilize the hardware in almost every way and the ports lose a significant portion of that thanks to the lack of dual screens. Plus it even creates such plot holes such as Neku being surprised that Mr. Mew is Shiki’s psych. In the original this made sense due to how the dual screen battles kept Neku and his partners from being unable to see each other but in the ports this doesn’t hold up due to Neku and his partners being able to clearly see each other in the ports. And that’s not even getting into how significantly nerfed some of the bosses got.

I've said this in my previous post. They intentionally made coop easier, this can't be argued with. And since you can play coop solo it trivializes gameplay a lot. But in no way it takes too much from the game to call Switch remaster a shit.
Both game's art and ost (which are the main selling points) were remasted and are much more enjoyable on bigger screens and sound systems. The game could've been better with actual combo system() or more straight forward motion controls but it is still a great game nonetheless.

Ending Final Remix on a cliffhanger was the retarded. Now the game's ending has been ruined.
