Honestly, too little too late. I can't imagine how few people actually play anymore and the ones that do are probably just sunk-cost spacewhales. Even BDO didn't fall off that hard, steam release really gave that game a second wind. If only something like that happened for AA, it's a much better game imo.

It's enjoyable. If you are looking for something to stick all of your time and future into, I don't think anything like that exists anymore. But I feel it'll be a fun ride until I get to max level, and maybe then some.

The thing I enjoy about it is that you get to mix 3 different classes of your choice to make some fun shit you want to play. There's min/max shit of course for synergy play, but I'm just having fun with it.

ESO does story coop well, but it's not much of a RPG since everything scales with you, making gearing pointless and you even get weaker the more levels you have. GW2 suffers from the same problem of gear being pointless.

I firmly believe Blizzard will sabotage it. One of the reason why Nostalrius was so popular is because it Free. The Classic server will require user to pay just to play, so there goes a good chuck of the player base. Allen Brack is still butthurt from that infamous QnA, so he will do something that would make it worse. He will fuck it up and tell everyone one " I TOLD YOU SO!"

I think archeage is the biggest case of squandered potential in history next to spore

I might be one of the few people who is happy it's p2p. The less chinks and BRs I have to see in the game the better. $15 a month is a good enough price tag for me to achieve that bliss.

Stormblood is really a shit expansion. The combat changes it brought were pretty unnecessary, the plot is shit, and I fucking despise Lyse.
Even with the slow start of Realm Reborn or HW I liked them enough to push through, but Stormblood just doesn't make me want to keep playing it at every single turn.

I bought Champions Online when it was being sold in the DVD cases because I was a huge fan of the Superhero MMO genre City of Heroes instilled into me. Needless to say, I was heavily disappointed. And my subsequent returns to the game in later years have been met with equally disappointing results.

I really, really, really dislike DCUO but it seems to be the only decent Superhero MMO out there.

Sega still will not answer this in an interview, and will go out of their way to cut one short if you try and press them for it. Seven god damned years since they announced it and toured the game around the U.S. and they still can't manage to say, "Yeah, it's not happening." It's clear as day it's not ever happening, but the fact we can't get a straight answer from them about it is really sad. They've been doing pretty decently the last few years with games/announcements, but this is one they've forever fucked up.

I played and liked the JPN version of the game up to Episode III's release, but I just found it puzzling why they even announced a localization in the first place when they know the cost for running it was weighing to much on them to actually do after the failure of PSU.

Not the first time Sega let a site of theirs die, but they really just don't care and assume people know the answer. They just can't be the ones to officially announce any of course. They had the perfect, and really, last chance to bring it over when that anime series came out and PSO2 was coming out on the PS4 and other bits. Even the Switch version as well was a chance, but it's done.
Which is weird when they announced it. It was fairly popular and the lines were decent to demo the game for most of the summer, so it was strange that they went radio silent around that September about it. Even three months after people were pretty much assuming that the Western branch in-charge just didn't see the merit of the game with all of the competitors in the field at the time.

BRs in ToS will exploit any possible bug or hole in how the game works to get ahead, and they all congregate to work with each other and ruin the game for everyone else because there's a large delay between the KR team being aware of issues the BRs find and the NA team being able to implement fixes. A BR got banned recently for using 50+ accounts to transfer event items to himself as well as multiboxing to afk farm and his guild flooded the in-game forum with posts trying to get the guy who banned him in trouble.

The PS4 release was the real last opportunity for it, and the coming episode/anime could be one in some realm of madness. The weird part is how quick we got companies localizing and bringing over some of the merchandise and anime series, but just not the game.

All in all, the game is dead in the West, and hopefully the next episode won't be a complete fucking disaster again, but I'm not holding my breath.

Sith Warrior was pretty good, especially if you play as a more level headed rational Sith, it baffles Jedis and make them go crazy.
Sith Inquisitor isn't as great, but you can have fun being Sheev with zapping everyone and you get a Togruta gf.

thats a good excuse but sega and the phantasy star team never gave a shit about the west. The original PSO was like "PLAY WITH EVERYONE AROUND THE WORLD" in the beta ad but not long after launch JPs got their own servers and the global servers were left to rot. Happened again with PSU. You can just look up eternal christmas and see how well they treated the non JP servers.

Leveling was irrelevant, you could max in 2 hours if you wanted to. The few people left doing high end dungeons/raids were only playing to not let each other down. If people started leaving, groups wouldn't fill etc.

A handful of it. There was this spot in tatooine where there was a cave full of bandits or something that aren't max level, but its still profitable to sell stuff from it. About a month of solo farming there, there was suddenly a dozen of afk farmers killing everything, leaving nothing for me to farm. Luckily, I already got all my SEA for my main character by then, and because she was a bounty hunter, I could just farm bounty hunter quest. That shit annoyed me, however, since I was farming for my alts.

The Sith Warrior one is awful. She can be either Light or Dark depending on what you are. Her Dark version is super cringe and super edgy. Her light version is okay. Inquisitor gets a cute Togruta. I don't recall if she has two versions, but I believe she stays Jedi all the way through, the different routes are just whether you become good and treat her properly or stay evil and treat her like shit. She's cool tho, or at least was. If the storyline for her in the latest expac wasn't changed she becomes garbage that acts completely out of character. But that won't happen until you meet her in that expac.

Couple hundred players here and there, but yes, it still active. If you haven't play it since 2016, they added more events, content, QoL power update, and open world raid bosses that always attract players to that location. They did a lot of stuff within a couple of years.

You could can completely do end game with the Archetype, although not as 100 percent effective compare to a Freeform user. They revamped the Archetype so they're not as bad as they're use to be.

For the both of you, they pretty much have one time pack sell call the Premium Pack that off whatever is in this list. No free form slot, however.

MMOs are not playable anymore to people without a tight circle of online gaming friends, or real friends who are still interested in gaming (of which most of us don't have anymore, since we're not teens anymore). You could remedy that back in the day by the inhernet social nature of MMOs, which completely died with the advent of social media and excessive QoL features. The only way to make MMOs good again is to bar progression behind socializing.

Yeah a p2w player can one shot squishy builds or people with mediocre gear. It's not a 1v1 game though, and most guilds have a few token swipers in them. It is very odd that you're trying to tell me how the game works when i'm the one who has actually played it.

Black Desert is a fun time burner, but it isn't something worth actually investing time and effort into.
The best of Black Desert for me was setting up the infra-structure and building a big boat in order to go on big fishing trips or just running a caravan from one city to another.

Emu or Basilisk is pre-NGE, so it skill based. Think Runescape/Morrowind. There no real "classes". You just get the skill and form it. Legend is NGE, which is basically a WoW Clone, to put it bluntly. There classes and you have to level up. It has those skill tree system within those classes.

I think the crux of the matter is that WoW was just too successful for the genre's good. Most people and companies gauge how well a game is by how it compares to WoW in 2009. Investors and CEOs think that MMOs need 12 million subs to be successful when most players just want a decent, semi alive game. XIV as shit as it is had the best bet to dethrone that logic but years upon years of shitty ideas and half assed support killed whatever chance they had. The age of MMOs is almost over.

Man, last MMO I played was Atlantica Online. That game felt like it was born to die, which was a goddamned shame, cause aside from a miserable grind, the concept behind it and the way it played were really unique and legitimately interesting. I still wish I could find something like that again.

Why does every "magic" system in vidya have to insist on elemental powers and then focusing on them. Why can't I summon swords or use mindblade or just persuade people. It's been years and even TRPGs haven't caught up with this.

The only fun thing about PvE in this game was grouping a dozen enemies and AoEing them all down. Glad you're somehow having fun with it for now though, I truly loved the game and wish it didn't go the direction it had.

ffxiv for all it's issues. having more fun now that I got a melee dps (sam) to 70 and get to play around a lot more. I love DRK and many classes are good and all but dps is a lot more fun for sure. Sad I probably won't get to Baldesion Aresenal for being late to the party but yeah good fun. Waiting for Shadowbringers and the free transfer for NA so i can move my alt back to EU. As for what I'm hating.. a lot of the community, Eureka's grind being slow as sin, the amount of redditors and other filth and so on. I'd say the MSQ model but I'm thankfully done with it for now personally. Still hate it since it makes a lot of newblood give up.

It's really divisive. Some people like it because it has a higher skill ceiling than a lot of mmos, with animation cancelling and having to weave in basic attacks between abilities. I hate it because it feels floaty as fuck and optimal DPS rotations boil down to cycling through dots and buffs with fillers in between, with little differentiation between classes.

A true RPG multiplayer in its core, at least the old content from the 2000's. Play it if:

>Enjoy exploration
>Don't mind some outdated combat system (and the brutal death's system if you play in a PvP world)

>Somewhat enjoy MUDs - you can start dialogues with every NPC and find more about the lore, their personalities, secrets, etc

Play on the monoaccount server. You may have to change manually since the game may puts you directly to a normal server.
Milk the free trial as much as possible and then you'll probably have enough in-game money to buy a sub for one week. After that if you're not retarded it'll be easy.
On the monoaccount server everybody's very helpful, it's super great. Don't be afraid to ask for help because you'll need it.
Don't click everywhere and use your keyboard to play faster.

Really i've been hopping around old NWN servers to get my online RPG fix in because people actually RP on some of them and I am tired of MMORPGs that are just single player anti-social grinding games turned into second jobs to keep you paying for subs and boosts.

I do still play EVE online, but I don't consider that as much of an RPG as much as a game where I can troll russians who have trillions of ISK in assets with a cloaky cyno gank ship.

it's really a shame. even as someone who loved wildstar i can only imagine how many players were lost due to having to sift through so much clutter and bloat, they never even got the chance to see how fun the combat was and how challenging the dungeons.

I really wish there was a comfy MMO to play where you can just chill out and grind with friends.

My only hope is classic, since Nostralius was the last game that gave me that vibe, but I have a feeling blizzard is going to fuck it up, the demo version of westfall was already pretty offputting since it didn't have that classic WOW bloom, but the new graphics

It shouldn't have been an MMO. It was clear from the outset that all the developers cared about was instanced raids, so all the standard MMO stuff was just wasted development time and blew out the budget too much.

Exactly, the biggest problem with every WOW clone is they don't understand that WOW was designed as a proper open world RPG first and foremost, the whole instancing and end game stuff came -after- they launched the game.

You hook players in by giving them an interesting world to immerse themselves in, but by either giving them linear cinematic quests where you kill 20 boars then get 5 minutes of cutscenes and NPC RP, or 500 billion map markers of 'do this for EXP" then they will never have a chance to immerse themselves.

It is but only if you already know the game specially since you can restat whenever you want when you're sub. For your first time, don't. It's easy enough to level up doing quests, challenges and success. Press U to see what I mean. This will give you a lot of xp. Also if you want I can just boot up a character at inkarnam and play with you to show you the ropes though I don't think it's really hard to learn.

2 almost killed kralk too in the last update, but he ate Zhaitans undead magic and came back to life. And not officially, but it looks like guilds do arrange them themselves.
