Professor Pester is clearly a spic and you can build a big, beautiful wall to keep him out.

Its really fucking stressful. Especially the late game. Expect to get your shit pushed in.
Also dont be fooled by the box art and manual. The game is actually an industrial farming/ animal breeding simulator. this is how you play it.,
>unlock all of the basic tools and fertilizers and the chilli
>start new garden
>plant a tonne of chillis, literally fill your garden with them
>fertilize them as much as possible with red fertilizer
>water them and wait
>harvest and sell back to shop for big bucks.
Or
>get a load of tafflys in to your garden and breed them as much as you can
>have a whole army of tafflys
>get a torch
>put them all in the torch one by one and then water them to put the fire out
>watch them turn in to reddhotts (worth big $$$)
>sell them all and use the money to buy more chilli seeds

also note to use one fertilizer spray on multiple chillis as seen below for maximum economic gains. This seriously does break the game so maybe only use it when you're desperate

The first game is only worth if you want it for free on PC. Otherwise if you have a console with TiP or Rare Replay than just play that.
It was literally just a question of "Hey making Viva Pinata was pretty fun, should we take 6 months to do some DLC or 18 to make a full sequel of shit we want to add?"
