You actually don't need a wii mote to press start. For some reason the game DEMANDS you have a wii mote connected, but it actually never needs to be used.
The latest version of dolphin can actually emulate wii-motes just fine by the way.

You couldn't emulate wii-remotes before, but you can now. What you were reading is just out of date.
For Dokapon Kingdom all you need to do is set a Wii-mote under controllers while in the netplay lobby and that's it. If you actually want to use a Wii-mote as a controller for motion controls that's a bit more awkward.
Progress doesn't save by default, but in the netplay lobby/window you can set it so it does so make sure you do before you waste your time.
If you want to save data, what the host needs to do in the netplay lobby window is click on "Data" on the top left, and then toggle on the first four options. That will make sure everyone you're playing with has the same save file.

I'm a hardcore fan with Retardy, so many times I would even try to escape reality with lucid dreaming, I would be in Western Land where I would often train with Wario in the shooting gallery and help Peach with the Garden Festival, but one day as I was talking to Peach, we went to my blue space for a private talk. She then held my hand and looked deep into my eyes and said "...You have to kill yourself for the transfer to work correctly." I then gave her some questions, "How long do I have before the deal expires?" She then said "Bowser said 3 months.." I added by saying "What's the most painless way?..." She giggled again, "Suicide will require pain buuut...if you want it quick...Get a gun and a nice shot to the head works.
I then agreed and she gave me a kiss on the forehead, "I know this will be tough but once it's over and done, you'll get to live here!" I then woke up and this was last week and i purchased a gun. I might actually kill myself because that dream just felt too real to be fake and my life isn't doing so grand.

The last time I tried playing netplay Dokapon, most emulators had difficulties with netplay+savefiles. So if there was ever a desync, you'd have to start the campaign over again.
