Out of all open world games I've played, it does it right. Its filled with a lot of reasons to explore the corners of the map without the need of a quest, like shrines, weapons, korok seeds, materials, etc. The climbing mechanic and actually being able to go anywhere on the map is really what makes it S-tier for me in the open world genre. It's not high in enemy variety though, but does have a fair share of mini bosses dotted around the landscape

It's not like Ubisoft games and it's not like most Zeldas, either. I don't really care for the Zelda series at all, and I was very impressed by BotW.
Samuel Lopez
Enemy variety doesn't bother me that much, the combat system is basic anyway right?
That map stuff sounds good.
I've seen quite a few people say it's like Ubisofts formula so I assumed it was.

Some people think the world is densely packed, some think it's empty. Truthfully, it's both at the same time. The shrines and side content are well spaced, but the problem is the side content is repetitive, and many shrines are either just a reward with no puzzle, or the same 1-on-1 fight against a robot over and over. Out of 120 shrines, almost half are filler like this. On top that, the landmarks and potential points of interest are usually only superficially interesting, with no depth or actual uniqueness to them.
In pure numerical terms, the world is nicely filled. In substantive terms, it's all so shallow that it still feels pretty empty.
Kevin Clark
The only thing its filled with is shrines and korok seeds. The shrines are too easy and uninspiring. They're just not fun to do. It doesn't help that they all look the same. The overworld is filled to the brim with a shit ton of korok seed that get mundane and literally useless after the 1st half. And that's really the only collectible. There'll be an insane amount of times where you'll go "I wonder whats over here" and it'll just be a korok seed. Enemy camps are always the same and always have the same enemies with no real challenge to combat at all. Doesn't help that combat is extremely boring. People will tell you to use other things other than a melee weapon to fight but there's really no point cause almost everything else does so little damage that it just isn't worth spending the time to drop a rock on enemies or hit them with crates.

I got it recently, it's pretty >fun I'm around 20ish hours in
Luis Barnes
>sale Retard. Buy used physical, so you can resell for the same price if you don't like it.
Ryder Ortiz
Its god-tier for the first 20 or so hours. After that it depends on how much you enjoy the act of exploring for the sake of exploring because there aren't that many unique things to find in the world.
Easton Cox
Get it, so you can see it is a Zelda's Creed. Its comfy at first and that's about it. Just get it so you can see for yourself.
Aaron Cooper
Its one of the most acclaimed video games of all time and constantly rides high in GOAT lists. This board has been in meltdown for two years because of it. So yeah, its worth picking up on sale.
Because of nintendo money and the gay agenda liking the fact that he looks like a twink and spends a good portion of the game cross dressing in a stripper outfit and passing easily.
Jonathan Garcia
wow, i never knew people like you really exist

You can buy a single physical game, then resell it and buy the next. This way you can play all single-player games you want for free. Or just borrow it from friend.

OP here.
Thanks for all your thoughts. Still not sure if i'm going to get it. Seems like it's only good for the first 20 hours like said, and then it's one of those games were you explore until you get bored then just finish the main quest.
Carson Lewis
What did it do to deserve all of that praise? If the only thing you have is "critics give it awards" then you have nothing.

You shouldn't be suprised. They're all kinds of poeple out there . Some are funny, some are tall, some are clever and some are retarded.
I really didn't like this. It's a great experience at, like, the first three or four hours. A game where the tutorial zone is the best part of the game. After this you are endlessly collecting useless items you will never use, killing the very same copy pasted enemy (with different colors) and every now and then finding a shrine that you can complete in about three minutes. The horses feel pointless when you can't take them with you on fast travel. And that's a big problem because you will need to fast travel a lot if you want to do all content. The quests are incredibly vague and most of them have no objective markers, but the NPCs themselves don't give you enough of a description for you to figure it out yourself, so you will either leave most of them uncompleted or look up a guide online. And ultimately most quests are not worth it, you will probably collect more items on the way there than the reward itself, and the challenge is never anything to speak something about. Finally, the infamous weapon breaking mechanic. It was badly executed, I have no doubt about that. Some retards keep suggesting to remove it but that would make the game even more boring. Thing is, there is definitely something wrong when you can't kill a boss because you ran out of weapons. That will happen a lot at the early and mid game if you are picking on enemies much stronger and bigger than you. Especially if you reached them after fighting other lesser enemies on the way behind. Another problem with that mechanic's execution was thus: by the endgame you will be carrying a bunch of fancy weapons, so you will face situations in which fighting makes you *lose* resources instead of earning them, because your special weapon will break and you will find no worthy replacement for it from the loot of your enemies. As result you'll feel forced to avoid fights or to find weak weapons that can suffice your opponent's weakness. So yes, not a fun game. I preferred XC2 and Bayonetta 2.
I wouldn't exactly call it teeming with discoveries but there's a lot to find. You can get at least 100 hours out of it before getting bored, if that's what you're worried about.
Gabriel Parker
People willing to call out you discord trannies? We’re all over here nigger
Chase Johnson
>You can get at least 100 hours out of it before getting bored This is definitely not true. I finished the main story in about 20 hours and I did go out of my way often to explore. After that I forced myself to milk like ten more hours out of the game and they were terrible. The discoveries are not many at all. The gigantic mazes? I found them before finishing the main quest. They were fun but not that much. And I guess that describes the entire game perfectly: it's fun but not that much. Dungeons, bosses, shrines, looking for korok seeds, there is no single activity that really made me enjoy myself, in fact it is very hard to realize whether I am entertained or bored, to the point which it becomes difficult to boot the game. Only discovery that made me actually impressed was that beach village. And guess what? It was fucking useless
Gabriel Carter
I wasn't defending the game i'm just in shock somebody could play a zelda game and come out of the experience with "the gay agenda makes people like this game."
Jace Price
I'm a straight dude, not that it matters if anybody actually believes the gay agenda is after your video games you are delusional and kind of pathetic
Mason Martin
It's not like an ubisoft game at all. That's the narrative which shitposters and Nintendo haters are trying to push, but it's not true at all. Try it out, it's worth the money
