Did Witcher 3 really deserve a 10/10 Yea Forums?
Did Witcher 3 really deserve a 10/10 Yea Forums?
Yes.
absolutely
No game deserves a 10/10.
How the hell did Pro Skater 3 get a 10/10?
Only my opinion matters
/thread
I hate this mentality. If you don't believe in max scores, don't have scores. A max score doesn't mean a flawless game, it means a game that managed to execute what it set out to do without compromise
Which W3 definitely didn't since it had been downgraded significantly.
If you believe every game you liked deserves a max score, then don't have a max score. you are putting a ceiling on a scale where no game can ever surpass your first 10/10. You will very quickly have several 10/10s which are not equal, and then the score is entirely pointless.
It is arguably the best action rpg to date so yes
Yes, and it should have been given more than it got. People who didn't like it were people who don't play or enjoy that type of game in the first place.
>If you believe every game you liked deserves a max score
what is this strawman
It came out during a dry spell
it got what it deserved
No.
You've completely missed the point of review scores if you somehow expect them to be objective measures of quality.
Was that ever confirmed or did they just release a bunch of bullshots/pre-rendered upscaled gameplay to fool people into buying it
It's a nice game but not the "best game ever made" like it's fanboys claim.
Yes
Yes. Now on the other hand, no Nintendo game has ever deserved a 10 and they really do only get them because of shill reviewers.
If you only look at the positives then Witcher 3 adds up to amazing and then some. But when you subtract for all the shit that actually gets in the way of the game, then not so much. I can hear you asking what the fuck I'm talking about, so let me use a food analogy: Imagine a buffet versus a hamburger. The hamburger is actually amazing, but the buffet has several pretty good hamburgers as well as a myriad of other foods of varying quality, some are good and some are more of the filler variety. The Witcher 3 is a 11/10 value but it's hard to play it without filling up on the bread and lose your appetite for coconut shrimp.
Yes. It's one of the few games that really deserved it.
Seething & Rent Free, Nintendo isn't even relevant in this conversation since it's about a PC Game
They are supposed to be, but they have stepped away from that and that's why we have the fucking 7/10 it's okay IGN meme where review scores don't mean anything anymore.
No, most games GameSpot gave a 10/10 didn't deserve it. Journey, SoulCalibur, OOT & Galaxy 2 are the only ones that deserved it
>the coffee is the dark side
Wtf I love the emperor now?
Look at the OP pic my dude.
I have beaten the original game and have just started the Hearts of Stone expansion, but the gameplay is not very fun anymore. It's way too fucking easy at Death March and level scaling. Any fun vanilla speccs to play? I am going fast attack/alchemy right now.
Obviously it did.
It just gets a lot of hate now because the kind of fag that posts about videogames online also tends to be a half-witted contrarian. You can't be smarter than "the masses" if you're just agreeing with them, so anything that goes past a certain popularity threshold has to get shit on.
I'm pretty confident that it deserves it.
Witcher 3 is multiplat
Yeah & that doesn't change the fact that this thread is entirely about Witcher 3. You are literally crying out of desperation because Nintendo games are rated higher then anyone else's games
no, it's not even the best game in the series
an ARPG with awful combat can't be a 10/10. just make it a turnbased rpg if you don't know how to make a half decent combat system.
No, i think the game is really boring. If you give this game 10 you might as well give to Ass-in Cream too
Yes
Dead genres can't ever be 10/10.
I hate shrimps anyway so it's ok
Yes. Witcher 3 is the best game of all time and anyone who says otherwise has shit taste or never played the game properly.
I like the axii build just because it offers me less fucking around in dialogue. Igni and Aard are also damned useful in sword fights. The crossbow is a hot piece of shit if you ask me. Wouldn't bother upgrading any of that.
>awful combat
I'll never understand this, it worked fine for me. I don't want every game to be some twitchy ass, Dark Souls horseshit. Especially not an RPG.
with that garbage combat it deserved a 7 at best
fpbp
9/10 Sure, but 10/10?
No. I wish there was random Monster Hunter mission generator in the game so i could fight big fucks all over again.
Eat shit griffins.
After cleaning bandit camps most of the map became empty and boring. Nice to walk through but nothing to do. No random encounters.
Also Cat gear for maximum mobility.
All will be invalid if a patch reworked it. And mods do not count.
It's also because Sekeiro just came out and fuckwit weebs are trying to draw comparisons. I noticed the frequency of threads calling Witcher 3 shit went up considerably around release.
They're only vaguely the same type of fucking game.
Yes.
Cry more, weeb.
How do you not play the game properly?
its pretty crazy how much stuff in the witcher games was entirely CDPR's input from history and folklore
there really isnt that much lifted from the books other than key characters, a few locations and a handful of monsters
they made it all seamlessly meld with sapkowskis works and for that you have to give props
>mods don't count
Maybe not if you're on a console. They're a staple of PC gaming that devs think is an evil boogeyman these days.
Yes but only with the expansions included, base game alone is a 9/10.
Witcher 3 is very soulful, ubishit games are not.
Does anyone here actually believe that?
Pretty okay Skyrim clone, 7/10 imo
witcher 3 has been shat on for over a year, it has absolutely nothing to do with sekiro or any other game released in 2019.
You only play it for 2 hours and drop it before "getting into it". Mind you, you can understand that you won't like it in that 2 hours, but that counts as being shit taste.
The first step is going into it expecting some From Software bullshit fodder for "let's play" videos.
It's an RPG, and a really great one. But whenever a game gets popular, for whatever reason, people start to think they'll give it a whirl, even when they know they don't like the genre. Next thing you know, you have "oh gosh, that combat tho!" posts.
8 or 9, not 10, if you think otherwise kys cuckold
Yeah, dumbass contrarians have existed since before Sekiro.
I played it for 130 hours. It was a fine game, it wasn't the best game to ever exist though.
Wrong list, less users & Critics actively pay off employees to review games higher
Solid 7/10 all points subtracted are from bad gameplay
What's the difference?
Yes. It's one of the few western games( I consider Poland western) that the devs actually looked like they gave a shit.
Bloodborne with good netcode and pvp dmg adjustments is 10/10
It's an excellent game all-around, but it worries me CDPR can't get itemization right after the first Witcher. Way too much shit to sift through and wonky stats because you're supposed to just use a Witcher set, invalidating 90% of loot progression once you get it and start upgrading. My personal would've also been they learned more from how Gothic did encounter designs versus going with easy shit like enemy levels and such. It is still an INSANE accomplishment considering it was studio's third game.
what do you think is the best game to ever exist then?
>It's an RPG, and a really great one.
What about it is good out of an RPG viewpoint? It's not an RPG where you have a lot of choice, it's not an RPG where you really get to play as the character in social situations that much or that often, it's mostly combat driven. As far as RPGs go, it's pretty barebones. It's low on the roleplaying and big on the action, cutscenes and storytelling.
Have you heard of Tetris?
Taken from a website with a horde of weaboos.
unironically soviet propaganda.
It's full of choices, though. People simply expect monumental game changing "choose A or B" kind of choices with immediate gratification and consequence. That was never what CDPR did and W2 was honestly the exception with a major story fork it had.
It's been downgraded cause apparently these settings would make the game for too many people potentially unstable, but if you really wanted them THAT MUCH you could've unlocked them via game setting AFAIK.
the difference is that of they actually downgraded they compromised their vision. The other move is just marketing
>It's not an RPG where you have a lot of choice
What choice are you talking about? I felt like I had plenty, at every turn.
>it's not an RPG where you really get to play as the character in social situations that much or that often
Are you sure you played the right game? There are roleplayable social encounters every other minute.
The problem is you apparently didn't play the game, or have a cartoon standard for these things. Every RPG classic ever released, if released in 2019, would get shit on for not being RPG enough.
Truly do not enjoy the gameplay. I don't like investigating small rooms in clumsy third person. Don't find action rpg leveling to be compelling. Geralt will be an agile swordsman with spells no matter what. Don't like the clunky consumables system. The crafting system's best feature is that it is unintrusive. Don't like the enemy's shitty AI that makes hard fights easy and random ghosts insufferable.
That said, the whole mediocre game system is dropped into a beautiful, engrossing world that's got like 4 good seasons of primetime television in it. I start to crave combat after being stuck politicking in Novigrad for two hours until I realize the combat is shallow and unfulfilling. I like to immerse myself in the Witcher contracts but all the fights are pretty samesame and the hunts are very straightforward, find footprints or scent and go.
To me it's an 8/10, idk the last game I'd rate a 9 or higher.
Honestly? Yes. The only games on GameSpot's list that don't deserve it are MGS4, and possibly GTA 4 as well.
They did it for 2 reason. Parity between p.c and console versions and because only 1% of the p.c market could actually run the game at those setting; everyone would just set it to max and complain about optimization. The console fags that jumped to p.c gaming have no concept of future proofing so they reeee extra hard when their 3000 dollar system cant play at max settings.
According to GameSpot, it's these

> 2. SoulCalibur (Namco)
> 3. Chrono Cross (SquareSoft)

> 5. Final Fantasy VI (SquareSoft)
> 6. Chrono Trigger (SquareSoft)
> 7. StarCraft: Brood War (Blizzard)

Good story and world.
Shit Gameplay
8/10
If fromsoft or platinum made the combat it would have been a 10/10
>no non-weebshit in the top 9
That's gonna be a yikes from me, kemosabe.
>What choice are you talking about? I felt like I had plenty, at every turn.
>Are you sure you played the right game? There are roleplayable social encounters every other minute.
There are a very select few instances where you can say something that has an actual effect on the story. Like the main story where you have 5 chances decide the ending, and also who you let win at the end of djikstras questline. A vast majority of it does not work this way though. Almost everything is solved through combat instead of dialogue, or having different options of solving said problem.
Have you never played a proper RPG before? Witcher 3 is more of a cinematic action game than a proper RPG. Even the new deus ex games do a better job at being an RPG.
how is starcraft weeb? It's made by americans.
>If fromsoft or platinum made the combat it would have been a 10/10
This statement is gayer than actually sucking dicks.
I remember getting THPS3 release day.
It truly is a 10/10.
>*whistles for magic horse*
>autoruns on road to quest marker
>*toucan sam vision activates*
>"Mhmm....giant slash marks all over the victim....a Drowner™, gotta be"
>"Come on, Roach"
>*follows nose*
>guys in Drowner™ costumes appear
>"OY BLOODY 'ELL FUCKING CUNT SHIT FUCK CUNT, IT'S A FUCKIN' WITCHER IT IS! GET "EM"
>"Shit you stink" ALALALALALALALALA *sets guys on fire and they stumble and recover immediately, does a cinematic slash and cuts guys in half"
>"Mhmm....Bandits™ pretending to be Drowners™......better tell the village head about this"
>"Come on, Roach"
>*autoruns on road back to village*
>"OY BLOODY FUCK CUNT WITCHAH, WOT ABOUT DA CONTRACT WESE PAIDS YA FOR YA BLOODY FUCKING CUNT?"
>"Just some bastards posing as Drowners™, here's proof *shows flipper*"
>"OY KURWA, HERE'S YA REWARD DA WHOLE VILLAGE CHIPPED IN"
>"Drowning in Danger" Complete AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
>10 crowns received
It's fucking terrible.
hes right tho. If Witcher had Sekiros gameplay it would be considered the best game of all time.
>what do (((you))) think
>According to GameSpot
Based pasta poster
which Tetris? Fucking NES tetris becomes unbeatable due to input lag after a while.
Even on PC mods don't count.
Mods are just aftertaste. Vanilla Skyrim is flatout unplayable.
I've played RPGs since before you were born.
If you think "impact the story" means "you get a different ending", then sure. But that also means you don't understand what "story" means.
There are plenty of opportunities to resolve things through means other than combat - if you didn't get any, that's because you picked combat.
> Bayonetta 2
Why? Why do critics obsess over this game so much?
see, you're exactly what that user above said. if it's not a major choice impacting the main story it something doesn't count. do you not remember lambert's side quest where you track a witcher he was looking for and decide his fate? what about that cat school witcher that massacres a village. you don't think those decisions don't matter they're self-contained?
Any game (or anything else, for that matter) can be summarized to this point, if you're gay enough.
Nah, keep coping
>I've played RPGs since before you were born.
How old are you?
LMAO this is so accurate :)
>If fromsoft or platinum made the combat it would have been a 10/10
Only good part of platinum games is music and Fromsoft doesn't have even that. 1/10 made me reply.
Witcher 3 and God of War and Yakuza 0 are the only good games this entire gen.
>what about that cat school witcher that massacres a village
that's not even in the main game, that's DLC released like a year after the release of the game.
You make a strong argument.
I played it for 500 hours so as a AAA title yes it was definitely great. The only 100+ hour games anymore are on PC, Witcher 3 is literally the only AAA since 2010 that did this that I can think of.
All overrated shit
41. Which gives me close to three decades on the most generous estimated age for anyone who thinks "impact the story" is just code for "get a different ending video".
If Fallout 2, or Planescape Torment released for the first time in 2019, you'd get monkeys on Yea Forums complaining that they aren't RPG enough.
Post games you think are better from this gen. This gen was shit. Hardly any good games
Of course not
>41
Bullshit, no one is this much of a loser. Prove it.
>prove it
Only on Yea Forums can some knuckle dragger not understanding that a two minute ending video isn't the sum total of a 40 hour story, turn into "a/s/l?"
Stick a gun in your mouth.
Lmfao
That's a nice attempt to try to get away with your ridiculous claim. No, please do prove that you're not full of shit.
Ok, I'll post my driver's license on Yea Forums, one sec.
Hiroshima needs to bring back the like system so I can upvote this post.
Yeah alright, you're not 41. Nice attempt though.
No, bacause the gameplay was lacking, and the skill trees were almost useless.
If you don't consider some massive gameplay innovations mandatory for 10/10 then yes. It's extremely well made game, actual AAA without bullshit.
>no games deserves max 10/10 score
>which makes it 1-9 scale
>but no game deserves max 9/9 score
>which makes it 1-8 score scale
>...
how does it make it a 1-9 scale where 9 is max just because the 10 should be left for perfection? That's a faulty logic.
Definitely not.
>Geralt's shit gravel voice and broken sentences
>more fucking dialogue cutscenes than action
>shitty horse handles like a retarded hippo on ice
>all female characters are the same but with different hair colours
>story is boring as fuck (no, the Red guy's baby wasn't impressive)
>same trees, fences, and drowner-filled coastlines copypasted everywhere
>repetitive shitty combat
>only about 6 different base enemy types
>loot a chest- NO FUCK YOU LIGHT A CANDLE INSTEAD
>map markers don't account for height/depth
>pointless RPG item system
>a whole section of one map where the army's tents are is blocked off and just a skybox for no reason
>every plot point is "help me and I'll tell you that Ciri left ages ago"
>far too much time wasted on in-game sex scene options
>shitty quest decisions result in completely unconnected consequences
>Witcher senses parts of quests are fucking condescending and just outright tell you what you're hunting
>constantly repairing items
It's a bad game that had potential, but got memed into success, which idiots believed.
>I Think It's Good Because People Tell Me It's Good: The List
Because in that case literally nothing can achieve a score of 10. So why is it there?
why would anyone vote a game on metacritic because they heard it was good, you absolute brainlet
>People said it's good therefore it's proof they're only parroting an opinion: The post
Chrono Cross is really underappreciated in the modern era.
Its a shining example of the video game as an art form. You can get so much out of it just by loading up a new game, talking to the random NPCs in Arni Village, and listening to their monologues about multiverse theory and perception of self.
Because it's the sort of thing that idiot would do. Idiots always think their behavior is normal.
you're literally retarded
Is that Emma Stone?
Low tier feet tbqh
Why would anyone vote a game on metacritic in general, user?
You mean Far Cry clone with bamham's creed combat.
Could not play more than an hour of this insufferable game,
>Geralt moves like he's on ice skates.
>The dialogue is absolutely butchered for what I can only imagine is an effort to reduce voice lines.
>The plot makes no goddamn sense and almost every event is Geralt showing up late and fighting some monsters while other characters solve whatever problem needs solving.
>Hey this crucial information you want and is extremely time-sensitive? I'll only give it to you after you do a task that could take weeks by which point my information will be worthless to you.
>BTW nothing you did was particularly special or noteworthy, anyone with eyes could have done what I asked you to do but we needed to make the player feel speshul so PLEASE GERALT ONLY YOOOOUUUU
>Combat is literally braindead mmo tier rubbish, fucking Terra had better combat than this garbage
>Oh btw it's totally a roleplaying game even though leveling up barely matters and you can't actually roleplay anything because "muh lore", but we'll also ignore the lore and the setting at every fucking turn because fuck you, that's why.
I'd say it's an 8/10. Aside from the really fucking dank expansions I only liked the Baron questline and several other stuff. There are really bland parts in the game I don't want to revisit ever again.
It was a masterpiece at the time and still hold up as a good game today. Between the fluid gameplay, decent graphics for the time , and an absolute stellar soundtrack, it shouldn't surprise anyone that it's a 10/10. The THPS series in its early years kicked the 90'a skateboard craze into high gear and kept it alive Into the early 2000's.
