A lot of people just don't know it's even out or can't be bothered to hack their DS

Attached: gina cute.png (400x240, 115K)

I've taken a bit of a break but as I hear, there isn't a lot to really discuss without having the context of the second game to flesh out the story.

Literally just finished it 10mins ago. I enjoyed it. Can't wait for the 2nd one.

I was procrastinating on finishing trial 5 until I saw this thread
Really not feeling it but I will go finish now

Christ user. I have a job. I only just finished the 2nd case. I can't fucking NEET life this shit anymore. Be patient.

Attached: 154758254751309010.gif (400x225, 1.96M)

have they released an APK for android yet? Im not paying

does it work well with citra?

no. no one is willing to buy and give to us that shit

If you don't mind playing it at 60% speed, it's fine

Good news, piratebros. The game can be emulated on citra, only the beginning animation of the first case runs at 60% speed for some reason, then the rest of the game runs flawlessly.

Attached: citra-qt_2019-04-13_18-34-27.png (1920x658, 1.91M)

I honestly didn't even know the patch was released until days after. I'm at the beginning of the third trial right now, it's been so-so. Kinda lame that chapter 2 didn't have an actual trial.

oh shit sweet, when I tried it citra wouldn't load the game. got any tips senpai?

Your thread isn't very popular.

sorry user, Yea Forums is for corporate shilling and consolewars, you're not allowed to talk about videogames

Sometimes I worry Ace Attorney popularity in the west is dwindeling. It is not as much discussed as it was before. Very little fanfare around this fan translation as well. Hopefully ths trilogy can rejuvenate the series. Some of the later games have been bad however so a part of me is ready to let the series die before it gets worse

The least interesting game int he franchise is AAI1 and they pulled out of that before it became too tired.

Wait what!?! Where?!?

Well Ace Attorney is pretty niche even though quite a lot of people love it here. I think quite a few of them still don't know that the translation came out like the other user said since if you don't really follow their progress this is like the only place that talks about it and even then it quickly gets drowned out by the other threads. Not to mention that the trilogy came out on other platforms so that certainly doesn't help things.

here's all you need, bro

APK please

there is no need user, I was planning on doing android as well but just do citra. took me 5 minutes just follow that anons link

There's no android version of Citra.

What build are you using? I tried using the newest version of canary but I heard it ran like ass.

Citra canary 1275
I don't think it matters though, you should just give it a try since it's pretty fast and easy to setup.

>not a single upload of the OST without extended versions
what the fuck is this?

I emulated the game and finished it just fine.

Is it only the intro anime that runs ass? If so I feel like a fool for trying to fix that.

Really? That's good, I heard a lot of people complaining about slowness.

So far, yes. The animated intro of the second case didn't lag at all which is weird.

Translation or the game? Cause I wouldn't know an answer for either, but I heard the translation is low quality compared to AAI2.

AAI2 had an absurdly high quality fantranslation
DGS just has an ok fantranslation, not amazing but more than good enough

>AAI2

Attached: 1259800850301.png (400x400, 21K)

It might bother some people, there's a lot of minor slowdown during the trials whenever the camera pans out showing the whole courtroom, and the music almost never plays at the right speed, but I'm used to that kind of thing having played emulated N64 games since I was 13 or so.

Well I feel like a tard for not trying past the intro

Thanks user

Attached: 1555034085950.png (399x544, 207K)

Too fucking late. Maybe it would have gained more traction if they released it two years ago. But now, everyone no longer play their 3ds. Not even DQM series fan-translation is this slow.

I remember hearing it was a pretty mediocre at best title to begin with.

>he hasn’t played the best AA game

>People don't bother to make LayeredFS patches t all, only prepatched CIAs.
I hate this sometimes.

It is actually pretty good, i imagine people hated it at first because there was no second game and a lot of sequel-bait during the cases

I think it does too and Capcom is literally only one to blame for it. Their inability to innovate with series means stagnation and very little space for newcomers to hop in. No one in their right mind would start off with fucking 6th game in the title of a story-based game. But those who did stick around for Ace Attorney all these years are fucking tired of little to no innovation or very selective character development, retcons and being told what we want to see with the series. The series simply got complacent and Capcom is content with milking the die hard fans who'd buy anything Ace Attorney, but also wouldn't move forward in little chance newcomers would want to try it out. We are at the dead end of a franchise, so unless upcoming new game does something legitimately new I might stop caring to buy it too.

Also, the trilogy remaster is trash that appeals to no one. The redrawn sprites look like shit, to rejuvenate interest in the series for newcomers they'll need to take more drastic measures towards remake, to make it look really good, not just fucking upscalling GBA artwork. My brother was actually interested in buying it on Steam, but looked at it and his interest visibly died when he saw the price tag and what Capcom is offering for that price.

literally just finished replaying AA6 just now
surprised an update for the translation hasn't come out yet, I assumed a small one with some fixes would have by now

well time to start in bed now

I never forgot, my hands just hurt while using my 3ds.

The only reason I don’t frequent these threads is because of massive spoiler-posting faggots. Can’t wait for DGS2 to come out.

I just got to the fifth case, and is it just me or are Ryu and Susato somehow giving off more of a married couple vibe than two literal couples in the 4th case? They're so ridiculously supportive of each other that I wonder if it's some kind of advanced bait or if I'm finally going mad with delusions.
Also, I really warmed up to their characters, they seem boring at first but they get ridiculously likable after a while. I especially like how they actually both swap between boke and tsukkomi all the time, and how they both are fairly competent and yet complete dorks.

>Capcom is literally only one to blame for it
I disagree. I think much of the blame can be put at the feet of retarded elevens as well. The last time they tried to give Phoenix significant character development was in AJ, and it was poorly received in Japan. So they reverted his character completely.
In addition I think that it’s very difficult to add gameplay features to something that is ultimately a visual novel.

Waiting for someone to releaae a cracked android version

That's what happens when you are surrounded by gaijins

I'm literally playing it right now. In fact, I came to look for an AA thread because I'm retarded.

In the third case's testimony when the miliner and banker are insisting that they didn't know the victim and he couldn't have gone through the skylight what exactly am I supposed to be pointing out? Just looking for a hint other than "it's the decisive evidence, of course."

the hat in the picture

omg...
my first kiss....

>this blood coloring invention bullshit
Iris was a mistake

Gotta make an objection to that user.

In terms of gameplay I think they've done pretty good. The Mood Matrix is pretty interesting and Divination Seances were really cool to take apart as well. I haven't played DGS but I've heard that some gameplay elements are pretty neat.

They introduced Athena way better then Apollo, actually giving her motivations and a great heartfelt backstory then when Apollo as introduced. She then, with help from Blackquill, learns to better stand up for herself in court. Apollo on the other hand saw a lot of development with him struggling with his inner doubts in Duel Destinies, and he's really matured by the end of Spirit of Justice. Meanwhile Phoenix sees a lot of him reflecting on the past, the trials he's done and it's great watching him act as a mentor towards Athena and Apollo, yet still kind of a prankster. Spirit of Justice did Maya good, showing her despite being a child at heart, she actually really is mature (The entire dialogue between her and Rayfa really shows it). Trucy has become a better magician, and though she struggles with the realities of the danger of her profession, she is determined to fulfill the Gramarye legacy. There's a lot more.

there’s a bloodstain in the skylight

At least you can barely use it as evidence because people don't trust it

Well fuck me. I looked directly at it too.

For the trilogy which version looks the best? PC/PS4/Switch version 3DS version, or the originals?

They make a point about it not being court-approved evidence.
I wish they had cut the scifi shit Iris and Holmes pull out. It clashes against the general artstyle.

Originals. Sprites look a million times better than the redrawn shit.

I haven't played the others but by the looks i think the ds one looks/feels less cheap, at leat when played on a ds

I know it's out. I just been too lazy to dick around with 3DS emulation or god forbid android emulating

I played the entire game with massive fps drops and constant audio slowdown. For some reason it never occurred to me to try to tweak it, even though I played Spirit Justice with only slowdowns in cutscenes just a week before.

Attached: 1543997402603.jpg (338x450, 40K)

Some of the redraw stuff looks hideous and the UI is ugly but overall i think the remasters are better for the big screen.

I was stuck on that for a while too, that whole thing is hard to inspect.

I wanted to play it on phone, do you guys have a link for that?

DS or 3DS. 3DS upscales the art a little but it's fine in that resolution. Plus, having it handheld is really nice. You can also emulate the games really well with Drastic on phones.

>AA4: We get the most based phoenix in the world, literal law god

Oh man, I can't watch.

You have to buy a 3000 yen Google Play gift card and get the game. No pirated versions yet

They should've had a complete reboot in Apollo Justice instead of keeping Phoenix around. Now it ended up with worst of both worlds with large and undeveloped cast.

Only good thing about DGS is how sexy Asougi is

i want to fuck watson

aaaauuUUUUGH FUCK FUCK

WHEN IS THE NEXT ONE FUCK WFUCK FUCK THREE FUCKING YEARS TO MAKE IT AUUUUGH I WANT TO EXPERIENCE THE REST OF IT GOD DAMMIT FUCKING CLIFFAHNGER BULLSHIT FUCKFUC FUCK FUCUUUUUUCK FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCMK

Not even that, it would've been fine if Phoenix just stayed in the mentor role after AJ, maybe with like one fanservice case for him. But Capcom is too scared to have new protagonists.

Most people just haven't finished it, I assume. As for the game, I'd honestly rank it around the middle of the series. Cases are lacking but the characters are fun.

game fun
post yer tiers

Attached: pwtiers12.jpg (1171x4500, 661K)

I don't miss the jury, but goddamn the sequel baits are like salt in wounds.

Was there anything else besides the motive for Watson's murder, the Jap who betrayed van Zieks and the government list?

I would've been fine with Phoenix around if he had some character development, like ending up with Maya or something. But the events of Apollo Justice might as well not have happened.

You into old guys?

What emulator works for this?

I really liked it, it was fun and all but why did they force a forensics loli on me? Iris felt forced as shit.
spoilers below
sucked that there wasn't any mastermind though, with a name like "hart vortex" he completely sounded like an aa villain and setting up such a cliffhanger at the end was bullshit

Attached: 1552158334573.png (109x112, 48K)

I liked how different it was to resolve the cases without fingerprints and other technologies, the twists on the third case were also pretty good
There are 2 npc in the 4th case that appear but are irrelevant, but i saw them on the trailer of DGS2. Also Susato has to explain how she knew about the hound of the barkervilles

Iris in general feels like a real awkward character in a relatively grounded game, she's not *that* bad by AA standards and would slip right into T&T or DD or some of the more offbeat games, but in DGS she really feels like the odd duck.

>I liked how different it was to resolve the cases without fingerprints and other technologies
wait until case 5

Attached: stereoscopy.png (400x240, 99K)

I'm assuming the first one is the unnamed guy who talked about power levels of Shakespeare characters with the defendant. And second one being the victim whose name wasn't confirmed.
I assumed Susato saw the name from the manuscript by looking through the peephole, but on further thought that makes little sense if it was still in the chest.

Spirit of Justice was so good compared to Dual Destinies. I'm not really a fan of the new gimmicks they keep introducing, but seancing felt appropriately challenging. If only the game had a better soundtrack and prosecutor, Nahyuta was like a boring version of Franziska for the fujo audience.

Attached: evidence.png (761x164, 172K)

>falling for tricks and gimmicks

I loved the Seances, they're one of my favourite gimmicks. They feel more appropriate as a Minority Report type deal, and they force you to think spatially. Particularly cool was the case 3 lantern one.

Nahyuta would've been a lot better had they properly played up the monk and fish-out-of-water-abroad aspects. And you know, some real personality.

Attached: blackquill desperate.gif (334x201, 1.45M)

There used to be plenty of regular uploads, but Capcom went on a copyright takedown spree at some point and now only the extended ones remain.

I lost the game at almost every seance but yeah it's a cool gimmick

this is such an annoying thing when looking for OSTs on Youtube

Attached: sherlock die.png (400x240, 105K)

Wow is Revolution really that good? I've been playing through SoJ and the cases were kinda eh. Is it a JFA situation?

Consensus, as far as that exists for these games, is that case 3 and 5 are pretty damn great, and case 2 is very good.

I liked the overall quality of the cases besides the first one. It's definitely one of the best final cases.

So they're gonna announce a new game for the switch soon, right? I mean, there had to be some reason they bothered to make another season of the low budget Ace Attorney anime.

i beat it. i thought it was excellent.

i love this game

Attached: top_3607.png (400x240, 100K)

I sometimes forget how bad Nahyuta was
>only emotions he shows are either smug cunt or being BTFO
>dumb chanting voice line that plays too many times
>boring animations like the dumb mantra poses and the butterfly landing on his hands that are way too long and play way too many times
>unable to perform basic logic, gets BTFO over minor stuff all the time
>never has any decent counterarguments, he either gives up or comes up with retarded ones that very obviously don't make sense
>entire approach to trials is bringing in witnesses, show autopsy report and laugh at the defense while spouting insults, then he quickly goes from smug to "lost the trial" in no time at all
>everyone sucks his dick, calls him a nice guy and a genius prosecutor even if he is retarded and unfairly prosecutes people he believes to be innocent
>big twist is how he was merely pretending to be retarded for the past 9 years and doesn't hate lawyers at all
what a shitshow

Attached: 👌.gif (256x192, 494K)

Just finished the third case. They just introduced the loli, I can feel she is gonna annoy the shit out of me. Also, I can understand why they wouldn't even try to localize this in the west. Everyone are so racist to Naruhudou and Susato, plus Sherlock is borderline retarded.

Attached: 13_2.jpg (759x397, 56K)

>rise from the ashes in godtier
>turnabout sisters in midtier
>turnabout reclaimed in demigod-tier

Attached: 1553428858543.jpg (670x499, 53K)

dude I never know what people mean with these posts, there's so many opinions here that it's impossible to tell whether you wants that shit moved up or down

Not him, but personally:
Rise From the Ashes is too high
Turnabout Sisters is too low
Turnabout Reclaimed is too high

i think they do a good job expanding on iris and making her more of a character rather than a nuisance in the fifth case.

Ryuunosuke gradually gaining confidence was a really good showcase of the character animation.

I think the lack of localization mostly boils down to Capcom being too pessimistic about the sales of a spin-off title that is probably somewhat costly to port in English + 3 other European languages.

Like last thread there was someone saying Reclaimed was too low and should be near the top

I'm kinda sad I lost the tierlist template

Am I the only one that fucking hate Farewell, My Turnabout? Shit just feels so off when I know my defendant is guilty.

it gets the reputation it has because of its subversive quality relative to the rest of the cases in the series up to that point.

Really? These games are traditionally more of a howcatchem than a whodunit, so it doesn't matter that much. It's a nice twist on the usual, but it's mainly the character interaction that sells the case.

Attached: adrian shoe.png (480x640, 257K)

I feel like the only fan of the series that doesn't remember case names

here's a template of all the cases that aren't DGS1 or 2.

Attached: 1473811558022.png (1693x2446, 1.96M)

>first game doesn't make sense without the context of the second game
Based Capcom

to be fair that seems like a takumi thing
then again apparently he wanted THREE games for the whole thing

Prove me wrong.

Attached: Ace Attorney Case Rankings 2.png (1801x3423, 3.49M)

The subversion is great. If you think about Agatha Christie's novels, the more memorable ones are the ones that break the mold when it comes to the murderer. Murder on the Orient Express had every single person on site collaborating on the murder, The Murder of Roger Ackroyd had an unreliable narrator as the murderer, Ten Little Niggers had the murderer stage his own death in between the murders, Peril at End House had the detective's comissioner be the murderer and Murder at Nile had the initial suspect as the murderer. Whodunnits are all about playing with the reader's expectations and that case does it well.

Replaying with pc release, did the older versions always let you skip text boxes? Big Top wasn't nearly as bad as I remember it being but speeding through the clown's lines might be the reason why.

pretty surprised at not having 1-4 all the way up top with the rest of them, and succession being there

I would move Goodbyes, Samurai, and Time Traveler up by one but that's it.

For those who played DGS2, do they reveal why Holmes is always forgetting stuff?

>racist character pulls out a glass of wine out of nowhere
I hate shitty memes but I couldn't help it and chuckled

Attached: 1554554463914.gif (256x192, 2.22M)

The Orient Express one really pisses me off. Surely the joy of murder mystery novels is figuring out the killer, and even having two killers feels like a cop out to me. IMO Agatha Christie shat the bed on that one big time IMO.

Holmes is incredibly eccentric, but not only do I think that's a lot of what makes him charming, but it's also a fairly accurate interpretation of the original character, in contrast to many other modern takes on Sherlock Holmes.

It was good tho. Barok is 2nd best prosecutor next to edgeworth and the OST is one of the best in the series. also, no supernatural powers bullshit is great

It's a reference to Conan Doyle books. Holmes states that he immediately forgets unnecessary information, so that it won't take room from new and relevant info.
There is a bunch of other stuff that they kept like him playing violin, practicing boxing and and his introduction in the ship being a parody of the moment he met Watson in the books. They didn't keep his heroin addiction though.

I think it's clever and the culprit becomes clearer the more you think about how airtight the alibies are.

Even in the source, Holmes doesn't have room in his brain for anything but mysteries.

lol

Uh, can anyone help me with the English patch installation? Every time I try to install the cia on Citra, it says "installation aborted."

there's a zipfile in this thread

the weird schtick of him doing something ridiculous and then apologizing for it is pretty damn funny
he feels like von Karma if von Karma was a bit more goofy

Yes. It's got a fantastic story and the case itself is very intriguing with a lot of tension an intrigue.

Could not agree more. In terms of the prosecutors in the two new games, the difference between him and Blackquill are night and fucking day.

>The Virgin Last Shites Prosecutor vs. The Twisted Chadurai

let me be fair- it's not that i don't remember anything about the big top turnabout, it's that it was boring shit.

Attached: my tier list.jpg (1936x2072, 1.06M)

I installed that one, nothing happened.

>Holmes clearly explains to Naruhodo about the automatic camera in the shop
>doesn't bother to investigate it before the trial
Just how dumb is he jesus

Attached: 1554579838547.jpg (400x240, 20K)

because it's established that the camera only works in 30 minute intervals so naruhodou intelligently assumes that it might not be that relevant. of course, it ends up being the most relevant thing in the case, but no reasonable person would assume that before it becomes apparent.

>that climax tier
I mean, the idea is to show your personal opinion on these cases, and there's definitely a difference in quality between final cases

DGS spoilers:
DGS's isn't even really a final case anyway

Ayy, it's working now.

Nice, have fun mang

Does it stop running at half speed ever?

sure, i agree. in general i like the climactic cases the best. this is true for almost every game. some climaxes are obviously better than others, but the only one that i think is downright worse than the rest is apollo justice's. it didn't impact me to the same extent. hence it's not in the same tier.

Is there a gif of him throwing the cup at the candles or throwing the bottle behind him?

I didn't play in Citra, but according to other people it's only the opening that's slow

I'm trying to run it on Citra with the patch right now and I'm getting about sub 86% speed, just between dialogue in the courtroom lobby. Any tweaks or things I can do to help this? This is the first time I'm using Citra actually.

cant forget something i didnt care to know existed

>i didnt care to know existed
what

citra takes a lot of cpu
close the browser

Well this is kind of a problem. Anyone know how to fix it?

Attached: 1527607887592.png (656x737, 541K)

>Yea Forums download filename
also that's an emulator issue it runs fine natively

Yea Forums x randomizes filenames.

that's kind of helpful I guess
didn't know I could do that

No one else in the thread has complained about the problem, though.

Attached: top_2624.png (400x240, 71K)

I guess I can play it like this if I need to. Still sucks, though.

I patched and built Citra with a hack I found on official github, and this made my shitty ancient laptop go from 40% to 100% with occasional hiccups.
Here's the link to pull request.
github.com/citra-emu/citra/pull/4089
Obviously, this might fuck up other games (it fucks with Paper Mario) which is why it isn't merged apparently. You could solve slowdown without hacks but apparently it's a lot harder.

Ah yes, the classic line "I will sell you my house for two donkeys"

Ah yeah, also hack needs a couple minor edits to work. All trivial, but might confuse people not used to patches.
I would post my version of the patch but I can't at the moment.

Okay, this is really a problem. I can't read the Court Record at all. Does anyone know why this is happening and/or how to fix it?

Attached: 1527233256288.png (644x752, 629K)

I heard stuff about the .cia file requiring a copy of SoJ during the patch process to be able to copypaste the font into the game but I odn't know if that's true
Try to find a prepatched .cia maybe

Without 2 that game is pretty mediocre/shit.

What's the best investigation/trial gimmick and why is it Joint Reasoning?

The presentation is just so goddamn stylish.
