Days Gone

I've got an early review copy of Days Gone because I work at Kotaku (don't tell anyone).
Five minutes into the game, you're in a tunnel and a tutorial tells you to put on your flashlight when you're in dark areas.
Took me a second or two to figure out what felt wrong - but the light source for the "flashlight" comes directly out of the camera. It points where you as the player are looking, not where your retarded character is facing. There is no light source on the character. It may as well be the light of God himself. You can flick the light source on and off during combat while he's fighting monsters with both hands and it looks like a strobe light going off behind him.
Is this the best Sony can shovel out for us? I thought this was meant to be a AAA tentpole release. Its amazing how suddenly demotivated I am to get through this even for work, when I was pretty neutral about it before playing.

Sry for autism rant.

Is anyone hyped for this game though?

It came out a generation too late, when everyone is not only tired of zombies, but REALLY fucking tired of zombies. The only thing it seems to have going for it is the number of enemies it can put on screen at once, which is negligible against the tons and tons of other elements clearly borrowed from other games. It honestly just looks like Sony Bend is trying to make the most fucking generic game they possibly can. No, I'm not hype, I hope it flops so that developers will leave the zombie fad alone for another two gens.

wtf? The graphics don't even look as good as Horizon Zero Dawn, an exclusive that came out a full two years ago. It doesn't even look God of War tier. Why did Sony feel the need to show this shit off for years at a time? If I was at Bend right now I'd be terrified of being laid off.

Holy shit dead on arrival lmao

>because I work at Kotaku (don't tell anyone).

Writing to Kotaku's PR right now. Rest in piece OP.

if you really work at kotaku, you really shouldn't be posting this here

Yeah and it's competing directly with resident evil 2, which let's face it did zombies as well as they could possibly be done.

Wow wtf that rustles my jimmies. I wasn’t even planning on buying this game but shit like this makes me hope it fails miserably. Wtf were they thinking?

yikers

Autism: the thread

Not to mention the action and animation of your character just looks like a rehashed Last of Us

After 4 hours of play so far, possibly the only unique selling point its got is that you have young children zombies in the game available for killing, whereas most zombie games try to avoid putting kids in for some reason.
If that gets you off, maybe there's something here for you. Otherwise its like someone watched too much Walking Dead and Sons of Anarchy and thought both of those things were popular with the youth and tried to make money out of them as one combined idea.

The protagonist is terrible so far.

Days Gone?

More like

SALES GONE

I'm just going to go with the perspective that Sie Bend worked on portable games as their last three releases, so things might be a little clunky here and there for Days Gone since its their first console game from the ground up since Syphon Filter the Omega strain all the way back in fuckin 2004.

Aside from hiccups and things they could've done better with details like the light there, especially since it was done much better in recent games like RE2 Remake (seriously, they couldn't have looked at that and said 'well we can do that but lets put the flashlight on Deacon's chest pocket instead of having him hold it'?') I get the feeling the game will get an 'Okay' rating. They gotta get their bearings back for big time console games it seems but Days Gone might be a good start. At least they aren't using a date engine like Fallout 76.

Considering how much bend borrowed from nd I'm not surprised they didn't lift the flashlight tech from tlou to achieve the desired effect
weird

It feels less weighty and impactful in melee combat than Last of Us did.

Most of it is Knife-slash combos that staggers an enemy back and eventually you do le epic death kill animation on them cause you're a badass biker, part of the 1% and so on.

this looks fucking awful
any mention of CRAFTING INGREDIENTS just makes me sick

From what I've heard the game is good but forgettable, another 7/10 game you can waste a week or so playing and will never play again

why are you such a fag? OP obviously knows he shouldn't be posting this, he's just leaking some shit to try to save us some money. You're a fucking boot licker, this isn't government secrets, it's fucking video games. Gas yourself.

The crafting wheel and equipment wheel are on the same thing so I keep on snapping onto the crafting part of something when I just want to equip a certain throwable.

I tried to have a thread about this game yesterday if people actually care for it in a serious discussion - It had like 15 replies

Today there was a thread shitting all over this game with 360 replies

This board just wants to see shit burn, over the smallest most retarded things. And of course nu-Yea Forums doesnt care that OP claims to be from kotaku. Fuck this gay site.

No, but I've paid 5k rubles for deluxe edition and shit like in OP pic is not what I want for that fucking high price.

Oh I also found this kind of funny: you don't have Quests, divided into Main Quest, Side Quest or whatever.

You have "Storylines," which get completed through certain missions. Its an interesting idea, but it does feel like they're openly running with the "muh cinematic narrative game" thing and not even trying to hide it anymore.

Why would you want to discuss this? How could you take an effort so flaccid seriously at all? It's laughable. If you want serious discussion, go to fucking /vg/, Yea Forums is for shitposting and unbridled vitriol.

>How could you take an effort so flaccid seriously at all?

Good questions, why do people take actual effort to shit on things but not in DISCUSSING VIDEO GAMES ON A VIDEO GAME BOARD you fucking newfaggot

just gb2reddit, dude. You're the newfag. People will discuss a game if it looks like it has anything worth discussing. What are we supposed to discuss about a game that's not out yet? 'woah dude look at those zombies' 'hey man it has crafting' 'you like, repair your bike, dude!' we don't know anything more about it than you can deduce from watching ten minutes of gameplay. seriously, go back to fucking reddit, if you can't handle a little shitflinging you can go hide in your UPBOATED hugbox where no one can say anything disparaging ever.

Shit like that pisses me off to no end

You know Uncharted and TLOU do the same thing, right?

>Someone work on Kotaku that browes Yea Forums

This is clearly a design choice you mongrel. You think Sony's AAA teams don't know how flashlights work? It's obviously so you can search in different directions whilst still being able to see what's on-screen.

No they don't. In both the flashlight is a visible object either held or attached to the player character that projects an arc of light in one direction, depending on where the torch is facing.

In Days Gone there is no actual torch and the light appears as a circle directly away from the camera, regardless of how the character is positioned.

God of War looked phenomenal. Also with current console architecture you don't see better graphics as gen progresses due to developers learning to use it.

Bikers are about as boring a protag as possible, very unappealing. Just give me a random office worker instead.

Then they shouldn't have had your best friend Boozer shout at your character (Deacon St. John), to tell him "hey, this corridor is really dark. You should turn on your flashlight."
And then instead of a flashlight, have a light appear from absolutely nowhere that behaves nothing like a flashlight.
And then they also shouldn't have added in entire features focused on managing dark indoor and external environments via your flashlight, if they were only going to ruin that all for a "design choice," as you put it.
And finally, they shouldn't then have made the overall effect function and appear worse than The Last of Us from 2013.

Anthem 2.0 here we go

You need an audience that was actually looking forward to the game in order to qualify for something as "Anthem 2.0". Was anyone really waiting for zombie survival crafting open world game #342?

fucking kek this looks terrible
these cinematic pieces of fucking trash only have their generic B tier hollywood stories and MUH GWAPHIX going for them, and this is what they do?

>Don't tell anyone

I don't have anyone to tell anyway...

Attached: 1512237528407.jpg (354x276, 22K)

ok this looks seriously awful
even the UI looks terrible

I wouldn't say hyped or even looking forward to but April is a pretty barren month for a PS4/Switch user. Plus, and I know I'll get shit for this, the whole "too white" thing kinda got under my dark skin and the game sort of has my attention now because I really don't like game journalism

I think it's more telling that you feel compelled to defend this game... Thanks for taking the tour, now get out.

Attached: 120021.gif (360x202, 3.11M)

I don't really mind the spooky flashlight that much. However that health/stamina bar looks like a placeholder. Hell that entire section of the UI looks like it isn't finalized.

same thing was in tlou, flashlight was fucked up there too

>Days Gone
>Gone from our memory in days

the ironing

Are you retarded? Look at the size of the pics he posted. Despite being .png files, they're compressed. Let him post 3840x2160 and then you can criticize the graphics.

So it's just a survival game? What's the end game supposed to be like?

Have you even played them?

Oh, I don't care about Sony or Kotaku, I just hate all of you.

I ain't tired of zombies, in-fact, I'm happily waiting for dying light 2. I really liked the first one.

Dimes gone

>comes out at the end of the PS4 life cycle
>days gone

In that case you have the character hold a physical flashlight and make the camera move their arm to aim the beam, like this. Bend is just fucking incompetent.

Attached: Screenshot_20190413-154706.png (1280x720, 662K)

They took it from uncharted instead. The light comes from the camera in uncharted just like the pics of days gone.

Loser

How’s the motorcycle stuff work/feel?
