That's understandable, personally I think that the new trailer did a great job of demonstrating some of the more high octane parts of the game and it looks like several stages have their own set pieces, just without transforming cars and changing tracks between laps.
He's just a placeholder for the villain team to be the Power type, and he apparently has his own motives in the story of the game.

the transforming was pure cancer, I don't understand why people likes that feature. In online it means that a single mistake and you would be send to the last places. And I got stuck a lot during the boat sections because I sucked at them.
