Sanicball is a blast with strangers if its even active nowadays.

64's GP is the easiest in the series by far. You can retry any track you fuck up on an unlimited amount of times by just placing 5th or below.

Super Circuit has loads more tracks though, and the coin system and rankings.
64 is also way too slippery, the controls are the worst thing to defend. CTR and DKR prove you don't need to slide around like butter to make a good racer that gen

64 has some redeeming qualities like the fact that you'll rarely if ever get hit by a blue shell in single player despite it being the first game to have it.

Love both. Unlocking T.T. was a fucking chore and a half, but when it finally fucking happened I had to celebrate for doing it.

By the way, is the DS more powerful than the N64? Because on one hand, the graphics and CPUs of MKDS are more advanced than MK64, but on the other hand Super Mario 64 DS sucks dick in every single way compared to SM64, and most DS games are 2D

I grew up with all Mario Karts on release, 64 has a good battle mode and a few decent tracks but that's where the positives end. The use of sprites for the racers is awful, it has the smallest roster of tracks to date, began the Spiny Shell bullshit (though to be fair it was used well in this game) and dropped Koopa Troops.
Thankfully the good tracks were salvaged and ported to better games. I'm not gonna pretend Block Fort isn't the best shit around, though
