What's the worst "Definitive Version" you've ever played and what's the best "HD Edition" you've ever played. Since everything made within the last 10 years is getting rereleased I need to know which ones to avoid

Silent Hill HD collection might forever be the worst. How you forget the fog in Silent Hill is baffling.
Best, I dunno. I know it's a meme to take screenshots of the bloom at full blast, but Wind Waker HD was great.
Gravity Rush was the best HD remake
I'm pretty sure literally every other one is arguable.
WWHD for instance looks like crap and is better off emulated.
>best
Beyond Good and Evil
Resi 4 (PC)
Zone of the Enders
MGS HD Collection was pretty good. As was ICO/SotC on PS3.
Like said, SH must be the worst one so far. It had so many technical errors and just baffling mistakes that really showed how incompetent Konami had become.

Literally no. Emulate or play on PS2.
Silent Hill is the worst by far. I think they lost the code for a good chunk of the originals and had to redo everything.
But its a very extreme example. Another good example is Bamham City re-release, which changed the engine and completely broken the lighting.
Elaborate or else no-one is going to listen to you if you have a valid point
Gamecube version is okay. The PC and HD console versions are broken as fuck.
Wind Waker HD is the ultimate in "I saw a screenshot and now it sucks forever in my mind". The bloom got toned down since the initial shots, shadows now actually exist unlike in the original, lighting in general got a really nice overhaul, the sky got improved pretty dramatically.

Most of what people cling to is the 'neon grass" and bloom which were a product of just pre production shots and that fact that side by sides look different because things actually cast shadows now. It's generally a flat asset improvement and nothing was ruined mood wise with the shader change like say the final battle in OoT 3ds was ruined.
That's not even beginning to mention the numerous gameplay improvements.
