It's just lame and lazy. If you announce a new race there's an implicit expectation that there will be both genders, and Viera had a lot of support whether you liked it or not. Hrothgar also look really bad, and neither them nor Viera being able to wear helms/face gear is a new low.

It's only 4 models but you're incorrect on how its distributed. Roe male, shared lala, all other males, all other females. They just distort the bodies with the rig / posture to get different body types between Au Ra / Elezen / Hyur.

Highlander males have their own chest model. Female lalas also do if its gear with major gender differences.

I don't think anyone at SE thinks they would be gross, I think Yoshi just didn't want male Viera because it'd be unique content. As in, FFXIV would have to be the first game where male Viera not only show up, but are playable to boot. So they took another fan service race in a similar situation to compensate.

the good thing about your first class playthrough is that exp has been massively boosted so you will only have to pretty much follow your main story quest without the need to grind sidequests, so the whole experience will basically be like a solo JRPG game with online dungeons and outposts to fuck around

So I'm super far behind and just beat og ARR. When do I get to the dungeons with prizes that actually matter? Not trying to shit on it I've been having fun, but I see people around me with crazy shit while all I got from the dungeons were shitty armor pieces that barely ever had better stats than what I was wearing.

the 51+ onwards dungeons always have decent gear plus you are guaranteed at least one piece per clear

What job should I play for Shadowbringers?
I was a healer main (specifically AST) but I've lost my sense of player identity due to being unsubbed so long (~12 months), and before that trying to rekindle my love for this game by leveling alt classes.

The only thing I know I don't want to play are physical DPS classes because I average 150ms ping and I'm too much of a brainlet for keeping up rotations while mechanics are going out.

decent looking gear comes from endgame stuff which, if you keep levelling now, you will be able to go back and do, mainly stuff like Trials (the single boss fight group encounters), Dungeons, Raids etc

now that you beat ARR you can glamour your gear which lets you use appearances of other gear over what you're wearing

yes, Red Mage is very newcomer-friendly while also being fun as well as good I recommend it

mounts are extreme trial and savage 8 man raid exclusive, though you can basically do the 50 and 60 ones unsynced and get them

Each major version's end game (2.x, 3.x, and the current 4.x) has content for its former level cap that drops cool shit. So, with ARR, you have some fancy cosmetic stuff at lv. 50 that you can get, for example mounts from Extreme versions of Primals. Lots of dungeons have minions, but minions are scattered throughout the entire game. There's not that many mounts/minions that are just handed to you as you level, you usually have to "target" those.

Every tier has raids with exclusive minions and most side dungeons after level 50 have them as well, exclusive mounts are generally limited to super endgame content that you'll see subhumans posting about dps values in reference to though, and they have a sub 1% drop rate in addition to still needing to be rolled for like anything else

I thought the raid mounts were guaranteed drops. Unless you're talking about ex primal mounts which are nowhere near as bad as sub 1%.

I think only current ex trials have a 1% drop rate or there abouts, everything else is probably like 5% except raids which is 100%

It's definitely not 1% even for current EX trials, it's like 5% minimum, probably closer to 10%. For older trials it's even higher.

there actually is lore behind it: the 1.0 aetherite network got blown up in the calamity, so the city states had to take a giant loan to pay the Sharlayans for a new one. So the fees are to pay back that loan.
The devs even planned to have cutscenes of you paying the fee to NPCs after teleporting, but that was dropped in favour of gameplay
