The ps2 was more powerful than the gamecube

The GC has what's essentially a baby Radeon 9000 in it, that was absolutely insane for a console at the time. I don't know how Nintendo learned all the wrong lessons from the GC, because Nintendo was absolutely killing it grafix-wise up until the Xbox, and even then, it traded blows with it pretty well for multiplats. GC games are loaded with technology

Nin simply figured that it's silly to compete with two industry giants in terms of graphics, and rather keep pushing the tech and fun forward, maybe snatch some sweet patents for whacky shit while at it. Not to mention older / weaker, but mature tech = lower manufacturing costs = lower retail price = people will buy more of their shit.

And it worked.

I know it's hard to stomach, especially on Yea Forums, but from a business point of view it made sense to ditch the hardware race and try a blue ocean strategy with a new market space. Say what you will about wagglan and casual cancer, but the wii sold like hotcakes then they tried something in-between with the wii u with dogshit marketing and, to nobody's surprise, it bombed

Am I the only one that emulate the gamecube version rather than deal with the shitty PC port?

Midnight club 3s online was sick dude

You sure you're not mixing up the current port with the old one? I heard the one up on Steam is good, and it has the HD mod too.

Exactly this, I was around 12-14 that gen and I remember it like it was yesterday. Xbox was the most powerful, GC was 2nd place and had those qt mini discs, ps2 just had better games.

>Unless they never read the system specs.
more RAM
more VRAM
faster VRAM
better float performance
massively superior fillrate

on paper the PS2 annihilates the gamecube. Though that rarely turned out to be the case in practice
