I don't get it. The soul is right there

3 creative directors meant more committee design.

It was removed late into development. Go look at the alpha footage.

>Main black smith responsible for the Chosen Undeads success
Yes, why wouldn't they have him work in the shrine for the unkindled?

He has no reason to be there. It's 100% pandering.

I don't give a shit what anyone says when Gwyn's theme started playing I got all choked up

Except what I just fucking said you retard. Andre was among the last non-hollow blacksmiths in Lordran and was crucial to the success of the Chosen Undead. Of course the bell of awakening would call for him, he's the only known black smith to use the black ember/coal.

>Charges at you with 1 frame start-up
>Takes off half your health
>"REEEEEEE"
Even after like 10 playthroughs I just face check him with a 100% shield held up for 99% of the fight, fuck that fight.

>He never hollowed over the indefinite amount of time between 1 and 3

they had smiths in ds2 as well. so that's not really an argument.
also andre probably had to learn it from somebody in the first place.

Too much pandering to the rabid autists that obsess over Souls games

What part of the bell of awakening don't you understand? It bring people back to life even if they crumpled to dust as hollows. This is how Siegward returned even though he hollowed in I. The state of the DaS III world is so utterly fucked you literally have to bring people back from the dead to rekindle the flame.
Nobody cared about DaS II smiths, one was a bizzare Demon Souls reference and the other was a babbling retard. Also there was the Crow with the nice ass.

Siegmeyer != Siegward

>Nobody cared about DaS II smiths
i agree. they were just pandering. there was no actual lore reason or explanation that went into andre being there like:
>Andre was among the last non-hollow blacksmiths in Lordran and was crucial to the success of the Chosen Undead. Of course the bell of awakening would call for him, he's the only known black smith to use the black ember/coal.
you can't even assume andre is the best thing because the chosen undead isn't really important in dark souls. there's been tons of people who linked the flame, so why not one of their blacksmiths? i wonder what blacksmith yhorm used.

>ds1 onion is the same onion as 3
why are you even arguing lore if you have no fucking idea what's going on?

DS3 is tied with Bloodborne as the second best souls game.
Complaining about SOUL means that you have no actual arguments to discredit it.

Proofs that they aren't the same person?

The end of Siegward's quest in DaS1, at Ash Lake.

does Yea Forums hate DS3 because it's the highest rated/most mainstream one? I mean DS1 is an amazing and inspired game at least the first half but DS3 is also really good, and the combat (most important thing) is a lot more fun. It's worst part is weak fashion.

one is named Siegward
the other is named Siegmeyer

Attached: 57163350_p2.jpg (1000x707, 52K)

Ouch imagine letting yourself get so annoyed at this retard that you let him derail the thread

I thought hollowing didn't occur as long as you had a purpose in life, no?

>Why not their blacksmiths
It doesn't matter, the point is the plot establishes a device that gives a reason for Andre for being at the shrine.
Everything against that is just pure autistic rage that they decided to use that specific npc rather than just make up a new one even though it fits right
When the flame fades, the bell tolls, when the bell tolls people people come back from the dead for the purpose of restoring the flame.
Him going hollow doesn't mean anything, all the lords of cinder were burned alive yet the bell forced them back to life to be burned again.
This has more validity than "because Siegmeyer went hollow".

"""Yea Forums""" hates it because after ds2 """Yea Forums""" wanted a game that fixed the problems that game had, and ALSO was an upgrade from ds1. instead we got something that played like bloodborne while having a mixture of the problems present in ds1 AND ds2.

This is where /v's souls fans are complete retards. They should have listened to Armored Core fans.

>From seem to fix an issue in one game, only to completely undo it in the next for no reason
Was he right?

Attached: Matthewmatosis.jpg (900x900, 32K)

The best thing about the game are some of the bosses, but the world didn't have as much effort put into it as DeS/DaS/BB

that's not a reason, that's an excuse. you should know that difference.
like if we take your reasoning even further, why didn't they summon the literal cu and botc, or even solaire since he linked the flame in his timeline?
literally anything is possible with dark souls lore of convoluted time bullshit, but that doesn't make a decision to include a character satisfying inherently or make it not transparent as fuck.
you know what would have made andre more satisfying? if he actually was used to explore the plot or he actually did ANYTHING other than just fucking show up for a "HEY REMEMBER DS1" moment.
>Everything against that is just pure autistic rage

it's fun

??????????
You’re a poor judge of soul.

In this thread we list things Dark Souls 2 did that were far better than Dark Souls 3. I'll start:

>No bonfire and no death challenge where you can beat the game without resting at a bonfire or dying to gain a reward and bragging rights

>Non-linear first half of the game allows you to rush straight to the areas of the game that contain the items for your build

>Chugging Estus immobilizes you, and the heal isn't instantaneous meaning trying to chug while someone is sticking close to you will result in death

>Stamina regeneration is tied to weight, so a character at 10% burden will recover their bar faster than a character at 70% burden, giving an advantage and a reason to make a low burden character

>Poise exists and armor provides relevant, but not overpowering damage reduction, giving an advantage and a reason to make a high burden character

>Phantoms and Dark Spirits cannot chug estus, spirits can only heal via spell useage which is slow. This makes fighting outnumbered even without mob assistance possible since any damage you do sticks

>Can only perform four rolls before running out of stamina

>Can only perform 5 attacks of a rapier or straight sword before running out of stamina

>Parrying has longer recovery frames and consumes more stamina, making parry fishing riskier and makes parrying require higher skill

>Power stance allowing for unique combinations of dual wielding and unlocking an alternative moveset for weapons

>Being able to use the full moveset of a weapon in your off-hand including running, rolling, backstepping, etc. attacks rather than just being able to do a basic R1 swing and blocking with the weapon as it is in Ds3 (lmao who would ever want to weapon block)

>Bell Tower covenant providing two unique optional areas to PvP for Titanite Chunks, Slabs, and Twinkling, making farming for upgrades fun

>Bonfire ascetics to replay bosses you like and or gain items from NG+ and beyond without grinding through the whole game again

The problem with this is that Andre has so much space in his blacksmith room but only uses that one area

Attached: 1361057198676.png (130x114, 32K)

You meet him in the Smouldering lake.
I'm sorry user, just like the Dark Lord ending, Solaire succeeding is non-canon.

Imagine thinking this was a good post, or ideas or whatever
>cringe

>You meet him in the Smouldering lake.
literally WHERE and literally WHO?

a majority of this is subjective or just what you preferred rather than actual complaints, I prefer how closer 3 plays to 1 while also ramping up the speed and how the world design was handled, though I would've preferred it being more nonlinear and less warp-heavy like the first half of DS1

iirc the firekeeper was originally going to be there, in the prologue that room is where you see her putting on the mask

Didn't take enough of 2's legitimately good ideas like powerstancing but I thought it was fine. Going from 1 to 3 and completely skipping 2 until recently, the only thing that tripped me up or felt horrendously out-of-place was that shield parries' timings were fucked in comparison, but I just equipped a caestus and whoops I'm a parry god again. Ashes of Ariendel and the Ringed City had some cool stuff to 'em, but Ringed City's arrow-spam horseshit was, well, horseshit.

>Chugging Estus immobilizes you, and the heal isn't instantaneous meaning trying to chug while someone is sticking close to you will result in death
don't understand how limiting player choice with nonsensical stagnant design choices like this makes the game more fun. The player being able to move while drinking estus can be balanced by giving the enemy more mobility and tracking

don't understand how some of you spergs defend the worst parts of these old games

>how closer 3 plays to 1

Literal retard.

It's got a lot of soul, and is a great game.

Because actual blithering retards complained that DS2 was too far from the formula when they praise BB for the same thing, so fromsoft literally copypasted ds1 and now we have ds3.
There's so much cut content it's saddening

Think about it for a moment, you'll soon realize what eventually happened with Solaire and his "sun":

Attached: Leto II Atriedes.jpg (130x412, 15K)

3 is closer to how 1 plays than 2

It all felt so bland and drab to me. Every area was either grey or brown; the graphics themselves looked great, but there was no colour at all, everything looked so washed out. I get that that was the theme (because the world was ending, and turning into ash or whatever) but it all felt so boring to trudge through. At least DS2 had some colour to it.

>l'm mad cuz bad

>3 is closer to how 1 plays than 2

Careful, all this drool may short your keyboard.

>At least DS2 had some colour to it.

ok retard

Originally, that place would belong to Fire Keeper and that altar (where the axes and swords restiing) should be further inside the room.

I'm different user, Solaire isn't in Smouldering Lake maybe your talking about Horace.

3 plays nothing like 1. Stop being a brainlet.

Attached: Roll roll roll roll roll R1 R1 R1 R1.webm (960x540, 2.82M)

That webbum looks pretty similar to how AotA's Artorias fight goes desu

I'm not talking about Horace.

>animations and movement lifted directly from 1
>"buh it's faster so it's not the EXACT same"

This but unironically.

Is this the ranking for how much each game is praised by braindead PCocks who only got into the series after the "Prepare to die" bullshit?

Cursed

Objectively correct.

yeah why not give the player infinite stamina? why limit their options? just give the enemies infinite stamina too.
while were at it why not let players no clip through walls? shit the ghosts already did it in ds1 so there's a precedent!

He's talking about the fact that the giant worm is supposed to be solaire

His magic resistance made my pure INT character suffer quite a bit.

>scholar of the first cringe
>above demons's souls'

DaS3 was full of soul. Change my mind.

It didn't have the good exploration of Dark Souls or the fun combat of Demon Souls. It was too fast paced. Not fun and soulless.

Gael can teleport?
Wished we can have his hood with the big cape.

>That webbum looks pretty similar to how AotA's Artorias fight goes desu

Artorias fight typically goes one of the three ways:

-You sit behind a greatshield, occasionally lowering it to poke him or restore stamina.

-You poisetank through everything he does and bop him on the head with your greatweapon.

-I'm pretty sure optimized magic can shred him reliably too, but I've never played magic builds personally.

All these options were nerfed to shit in DaS 3.

And the thing people did as a self-imposed challenge, rolldodge everything by abusing your retarded amount of invincibility frames, was buffed, so (despite your assertion) you can roll like thrice as much as in DaS (for fuck's sake, if you just keep mashing button continously that will only result in relatively small delay between rolls after seventh and eigth, as in BB, in DaS 3 you only watch stamina bar to see if the enemy will die in one string) and made the only reliable way to keep yourself alive.

>Undeads literally get brought back because of the bell
>ugh i can't believe this guy is here!
reatard.
what the fuck is this? games can't even reference their own series without it being pandering?

Ahh.. the Dune reference?

optimized magic can incinerate anything in any souls game
>tfw killing aldrich with 6 fireballs in about 20 seconds

1 < 2 < 3
Prove me wrong.

All Souls games are great and DS3 is among the best. Roaches just shitpost about them because they won't admit Bloodborne could be topped.

>swordsman does a flip
>WOW ARTORIAS CLONE MUCH
Artorias is a Guts clone.

>Being able to use the full moveset of a weapon in your off-hand including running, rolling, backstepping, etc. attacks rather than just being able to do a basic R1 swing and blocking with the weapon as it is in Ds3 (lmao who would ever want to weapon block)
This by far was my greatest disappointment in DS3. You can't even really do a basic R1 swing in DS3 with your offhand. Not fluidly at least. The character has a slight pause where they revert back to a neutral stance before performing the offhand attack instead of naturally chaining into the attack.

Some of my most fun in DS2 was dual wielding a Manakin Sabre alongside the Espada Ropera. I could seamlessly swap between the Espada's lunging attacks and the sabre's close in sweeping attacks, along with both weapon's running/rolling/backstep attacks. Additionally I had the sabre's heavy attack and the Espada's parry. To top it all off, I could opt to enter power stance to gain access to a more aggressive light attack chain, the notorious 'spin to win', and still have the Espada's parry.

You practically couldn't hold all of those moves. Such a let down to get to DS3 only to see that the combat was so much shallower.

Brainlets won't grasp it user. The lightning breath and Lightning Stake drop was completely lost to them, as was the fact that the Catacombs of Carthas seem to be built over the last remains of Lost Izailith.

Miyazaki wasn't going to let Solaire win, so he made him and his maggot hat into a big worm, it's the most likely explanation for why the thing is even in the game.

gael is unironically more of a guts clone than artorias

Jesus christ you are a shitter.
I killed him first try with one of the slowest weapons in the game, without using a shield, and didn't go below half health.
If you had complained about the gank knights in front of his room, or all of the pus of men, it would make sense, but complaining about the Ocieros himself is like complaining about Vordt.

nobody said otherwise

>drakes in ds1 breath lightning too
i guess gwynson was really fucking those dragons

>all those fancy moves were dodged by spamming rolling
Whoa, so this is the power of the Souls series.

don't act like the insta charge isn't bullshit
also your weapon being slow doesn't meant it's bad or even hard to use.
there's a reason zaphander was so strong in ds1: you stun locked the shit out of everything within a mile of you

Comfy

>Souls shitposting
>Not all mustard race retards who think 2 was good
>People who liked BB not liking 3
>Using words that "Japan uses" because you heard some shitposting third worlders from /jp/ spam it
Everything about this post is amazingly retarded.

this gael fight would have been more epic if it was a qte event

It's too repetitive and doesn't really have much in the way of level design.

You literally called doing flips "lifted directly". It doesn't work that way.

Yeah, and rats absolutely are direct descendants of pigmies because they drop Humanities.

That was probably to show how they were fake dragons.
The Sand worm makes a big deal about it, from the wardens inventing resistance pills to its lightning to the fact that it drops a miracle known to dragon-slayers.
The location the worm is in and its powers combined with the fact that Solaire wears the sunlight maggot pretty much implies what happened. This is of course, the "dude remember DaS?" game.

The individual level design was among the best in the series. Only retards think that completely linear levels with awful layouts are better because you can do them in any order.

completely linear IS an awful layout

Uh user rats and doggos are going hollows. It's never specified but seems likely that the reason for this is their involvement with humans. eating corpses or perhaps just being beasts intertwined with humanity, Man's best friend and Man's eternal pest, hollowing with them.

>It's never specified but seems likely
based

Do you really not understand the difference between individual level design and level progression throughout the game, or are you only pretending to be retarded?

Solaire isn't the fucking worm you daft moron. Absolutely pathetic, the """lore""" people pay to be told instead of rubbing their two brain cells together.

That attacks pretty cool he teleports by popping up out of a summon sign close to where you are.

Well, and hollows don't have Humanities to spare, so what you're even talking about.

The reasonable explanation here is the same as with sandworm - eating humans.

It was a corporate cashgrab. Remember darksouls one? Remember?

Rats and dogs eat humans which is why they have humanity stored in them, and IIRC one of the hollow corpses in Undead Parish gives twin humanities implying that she was pregnant when she died
Quelaag also gives twin humanities because her sentient spider lower half was a human at some point

are you pretending ds3 doesn't have linear as fuck levels AND world progression? did you make it to irithyll?

alas, that is not the case, as much as I would love a solaire around.

Yellow Bug Pellet:
The grave wardens of Carthus used these to repel a great sand worm. The worm tumbled to the catacombs and proceeded to dominate its new home in the Smoldering Lake.

DaS3 lore is shit kek

quelaag more likely gives twin humanities because she collects multiple humanities for her sister, nothing implies the spider was ever a separate person
alternatively, she was also able to lay humanity eggs like her sister did as a firekeeper. bosses dropping humanity is also mostly a gameplay consideration anyway

>spam invincibility frames to ignore any attack
>hurr durr durr Souls series has the best combat mechanics in any RPG game durrrr
Bravo you based retards

Okay, so you didn't play the game.

the ramshackle segments which ended up being londor and aldrich are just fine

Level progression is far more linear, and each level's design is likewise linear or looping, made worse by the bonfire transportation system

okay so YOU didn't play the game.

I'd say it had 50% more souls than 2, and 300% more than 3.

why?

>The sandworm just ate a human that knew dragon slaying miracles and obtained lightning powers.
Yeah, except Carthas was saudi-arabia with pyromancers and the worm was fucking with them in their heartland. They didn't have a paladin with lightning miracles.
Seems more likely that Solaire went mad with the maggot, the maggot fused with him and over time it grew into a sandworm that raged around Izalith. Eventually Carthas formed on the surface and the worm escaped and ransacked the land until it was repeled back into the depths. Then the warping geography of the universe caused the swamps of farron to move on top of Carthas.

>dark souls 3 had 300 percent more souls than dark souls 3
Time really is convoluted.
I see what you were trying to say though.

Why bother lying when anyone can just look at maps of the individual levels and see how completely full of shit you are? DaS2fags are subhumans and shouldn't be allowed to post.

Dark Souls 2 ruined the series for me. I still have BB, DS3, and even Nioh wrapped in plastic. I literally cannot bring myself to play them.

The story arc of playing as the Ashen One is not stirring for one's ego.

>le ds2 was bad meme

epic

teleporting bonfires killed it

>Subhuman DaS2fag pretending his opinion is worth anything at all
"No"

literally every soulsbornekiro game except DS1 has teleporting from the very beginning

All weapons feel absolutely the same and the stupid arts dont help shit

It's a Bloodborne asset flip filled with cheap throwbacks to the original and a story as incoherent as 2's.

if you had access to hard proof the whole time why bother arguing? just post a link and save everyone's time or fuck off.

I've never even played DaS2 on principle because I was so disappointed by what it was released as.
With the exception of dead ends to double back on or teleport out of, and the occasional 2 way split route which joins together again at the end, the game is exceedingly linear, to the extent that it wears on me when making new characters (high wall, settlement, sacrifices, cathedral, farron, carthus, all required before I really get a choice). Even open spaces like farron keep swamp have a defined pathway, in this case the flames to the 3 shrines. This is compounded with the only world progression forks being cathedral/farron (church is a dead end) & yhorm/aldrich (a pair of dead ends, but LoCs are a nice conclusion).

nobody but you brought up ds2 amigo

are you some kind of closet ds2 lover

The transitory thread where the posts converge.

darksouls3.wiki.fextralife.com/Maps
Sorry, I was going on the wild assumption that everyone actually played the games and knew that while the order you do levels in is pretty fixed, the levels themselves in DaS3 were great.

>With the exception of dead ends to double back on or teleport out of, and the occasional 2 way split route which joins together again at the end, the game is exceedingly linear
See, that's just wrong. With the exception of a couple of levels, there are always multiple paths, side areas and open spaces to explore.

yes, and DaS1 is the most commonly praised

Yes the game had color to it to bad it's was blue grey green and brown that were alot of it

the problem is that the side areas and open spaces don't generally contain anything too useful, lots of shards and other chaff, and certainly don't lead to alternative areas like you could see with darkroot for example
The cathedral of the deep is my favorite level design on the whole due to its sensible looping design but the rest are largely a series of bonfire checkpoints and alcoves, where player progression is inherently on a bit of a corridor.

>the side areas only have materials and enemies and stuff
As opposed to what?

>even Nioh
You're retarded dude.
